That afternoon, Shera invited Via to a one-on-one talk in a park in front of the hospital. While the mother and Wira waited while watching Lyla who was playing in a special area for children available in front of the hospital.
"I'm sorry if my presence has been bothering you all this time. I'm just jealous that Lyla would prefer you over me, her own real mother" Shera said. From his face was already a deep sadness.
"I can understand for that. Lyla is not a child who is receptive to new people" explains Via trying to quell the sadness of the woman beside him.
"Until now she hasn't been able to accept me as her birth mother."
"I'm sorry, but I tried to persuade her. Maybe I need some more time. But I'm sure one day Lyla will accept you."
Shera wiped away her tears. He began to remember the past, when he and his wife were still tied up in marriage. The woman took a deep breath, before continuing her words.
"Wira married me as a form of responsibility for the accident that killed my parents. I thought of him as a murderer, so I hated him. For the sake of avenging her, I bound the Hero with guilt, and I succeeded. The hero bent his knees in front of me. He gave me whatever I wanted. Dad was right, between me and Wira there was never any love. What He felt for me was only guilt, so he was blind to all the bad things I did and thought of it as love. And now, I can see the love in the eyes of the Hero for you. And I was envious. In the past, many times I deliberately made mistakes, but he still forgave me. Now I've lost everything.
"I've even said I don't want any children between us, because I don't want to be attached to a Hero for the rest of my life. That's why I threw Lyla away. I don't want my son. But my hatred for the Hero is too great, so it blinds me."
Via was stunned to hear Shera's words. For him, there is no reason whatsoever to justify a mother throwing away her child.
"Me and Lyla had the same fate. Dumped by our parents. That's why I love her so much, and to me Lyla is everything."
Silence is created. Via and Shera dissolve in each other's minds.
"May I ask you something?" shera looked at Via, and was immediately answered with a nod by the woman. "You'll have your own child with the Hero. Will your love for Lyla remain the same after the birth of your child?"
Via was stunned again. Shera's question made her body crumble, as if the woman doubted the magnitude of Via's affection for Lyla.
"Lyla is my son. And always will be," said Via.
"But a mother will surely love the child born from her womb more. You will too." Both of Shera's eyeballs are filled with clear fluid considering that Lyla will have a half-brother. "Lyla is just your adopted daughter. Of course you will love your real children more. And my son will feel left out?"
"That's not gonna happen. Lyla knows I love her more than anything."
"You're sure he won't feel left out?" shera asked doubtfully.
This time Via felt that Shera's question had gone too far. He stood up from his seat, intending to avoid that senseless talk for him. "Sorry, I have to leave immediately. It's late, and I don't want Lyla to get tired of waiting."
"I don't have to answer any of your questions" exclaimed Via cutting off Shera's conversation. "You have no right to doubt the love I have for Lyla. You don't know anything about me and Lyla. So-so"
"Yetoo!!" The sound of Lyla calling from across the street, made Via and Shera turn their heads.
Unwittingly by Wira, the little girl was detached from her supervision. Seeing his mother in the park located across the street, he half ran, no longer paying attention to the vehicle and then passing.
From a distance not so far away, a car drove at high speed. Realizing the danger, Via and Shera panicked.
"Lilma!!" yell out Via calling. Without a second thought, the woman ran to the road where Lyla was. Shera froze in place. Between surprise and worry.
Suddenly, the shadow of Mr. Gunawan's words flashed back. A few days ago, Shera met her former father-in-law to dispel her doubts about Via's sincerity for Lyla. Even though the middle-aged man had explained everything, but he still hesitated and wanted to make sure himself by asking Via. Now he has found the answer to his doubts. Again, Via sacrificed easily for Lyla.
You don't have to doubt Via's affection for your son, Shera. Via was even able to sacrifice anything for Lyla even if it had to be with her life. The reason why Via was once a woman of the night was for the sake of Lyla. After all those sacrifices, what else do you doubt? the long words that still imprint Shera, along with the tears that fall.
Via's body crashed when a sedan car hit him. Luckily, she pushed Lyla down onto the sidewalk before the car touched her body. Not far from there, Wira who had just realized Lyla's disappearance from her surveillance immediately searches for her daughter. His entire body felt limp, with a clear liquid that soaked his face, when he found the scene in front of him.
"Via!!" wira shouted blaringly.
