Edbert chuckled softly upon hearing the question from the woman he loved so much. “Nothing to do with my pain, Cath.”
Cathleen raised next to an eyebrow, still with her face looking puzzled. “Then why are you like this now? Did your head just hit something?”
“No, ever since you chose to leave me, I started to try self-introspection,” explained Edbert.
“Do you have to leave first and then you want to change? Why not from the beginning when I told you that I don't like your constrained, rude, uncontrolled emotions?” Cathleen never asked Edbert to change her vices. Before deciding to leave the man's life, he had protested many times, but still Edbert did not change in the slightest. Thus, with a heavy heart Cathleen chose to go in a way that is not good and forced herself into the life of Gerald.
Edbert smiled. “Let me answer, we sit by the lake, shall we? The atmosphere there is quieter and more comfortable to chat,” invite him while pointing towards the expanse of water surrounded by tall trees.
Cathleen nodded her head in agreement, and the two of them went down alone, walking unilaterally even though Edbert was eager to grab the woman's hand.
“I didn't bring a mat.” Edbert told me as he put the jacket on the grass. “You sit here only.” He pointed towards the cloth.
“Then you?”
“I have no problem on grass.” Edbert sat down first, he pulled down Cathleen's still-standing hand to sit down immediately as well.
The two men stared at the clear water that looked calm. Make the heart and soul more peaceful.
Before answering, Edbert looked at Cathleen first, still the same, there was a radiance of love that never faded. Then switch straightening the eyes forward again. “Maybe the way I loved you was wrong, Cath. I'm too scared to lose you. You know I was orphaned because my parents were in an accident and my grandfather was sick. All forms of restraint because I love you too much. Sorry if only now I start to change, I think you will be able to understand my condition like that.” His head lowered, showing regret for changing too late.
Cathleen had been observing since then as Edbert explained. “Your change is too late, Ed, I already have a husband.” He shows the left ring finger with a ring.
Edbert's head nodded slowly, throwing the small stone that was near where he was sitting towards the lake. “I know that the chances of us coming back are very small. My hope for you is not too high, can we be best friends or friends from now on?” his message reached out to Cathleen.
Cathleen stared at Edbert's hand, then turned to highlight the face of the man with the roar's face that seemed to be softening. “It looks like good friends are not bad.” He just returned the hand.
And Edbert was widening his smile. “Thank you you don't hate me and still want to be friends.”
Slowly Edbert changed his position to sleep on the grass. He crossed both hands behind his head as a cushion. Both eyes now face a stretch of sky that does not show blue. “Cath, may I ask you something?”
