Gerald did not respond to Cathleen's question. He just walked out of the room with a face that remained flat with minimal expression.
“Am I wrong to pay attention to people? Doesn't that show the human side. Or Gerald doesn't like it when I pay him attention?” Cathleen struggles with her own thoughts because the words that come from her husband are not able to understand, while Gerald did not explain in the least.
Of course his speculation made Cathleen bend her face. “I can't be as indifferent as Gerald, anyway that I noticed also my own husband.”
In fact, what Gerald meant was not the man's attention, but Cathleen who still showed concern for Edbert. While the woman had said she did not want to return with Edbert because he had a grumpy and forced nature.
