Memory Trajectory

The ten-year-old little man sat pensively under a tree, occasionally his hands rubbing his coarse eyes.

"Hi." As the little girl smiled at him, the little girl offered her ice cream to the little man.

"I don't like ice cream."

"Es cream is comfort when you're sad and angry, it's my mama's saying." Said the little girl while sitting next to the little man. After sitting down, he returned to the ice cream.

The little man finally accepted the ice cream. But, it turns out that he received it not to be eaten but discarded.

The little girl simply looked at him expressionlessly, then smiled towards the little man.

He gently rubbed the head of the little man, gently,

"What's wrong, everything's gonna be fine. It— said my mother when I was sad."

The little man snorted annoyedly at hearing that, he was really bothered by the presence of the little girl who still looked to be six years old.

"Did your mother also teach you to be disrespectful to others?" Ask the little guy.

The little girl shook her head, though,

"No." The answer.

"Then don't touch anyone's head, I'm older than you!" Said the little man while clasping the little girl's hand.

"My mom always strokes my head when I'm sad."

"I'm not sad!"

"I saw you cry earlier." Said the little girl in her innocent tone.

"I'm not crying!" The little man continued to refute every word the little girl spoke.

"I wasn't lying, I actually saw it earlier, you were crying."

"I said no yes no!" Refute the little man with his high tone.

The little girl who was being yelled at by the little guy just remained silent expressionless, she blinked her eyes a few times. Then then, a smile came back engraved on his face.

The little girl took something from her bag, she took out a handkerchief which was her beloved handkerchief. Then, slowly, the little girl wiped away the remaining tears on the little man's face.

The little man was surprised by the little girl's actions, but although surprised, he remained silent.

"If you want to lie, you have to be smart." Said the little girl while giving her handkerchief to the little man.

"Is that what your mom said, too?" Ask the little guy.

The little girl shook her head, though,

"No, that's me saying it myself." Answer the little girl.

"What's your name?" Ask the little guy.

The little girl was seen displaying a wide smile when she heard the question.

"My name is An.."

"You okay? You're making mama worry, baby." Said the woman while hugging the little girl.

"I'm sorry, because it's worried for my mom. Oh yes ma, this is my friend." Said the little girl, she pointed towards the little man.

"Oh really? Hello— what's your name?" Ask the little girl's mother.

"Hello aunt, just call me Ray." Said the little man named Ray while bowing respectfully to his mother little girl.

"Angel, your friend is very polite, he seems older than you. So— you should call him brother ya."

"Halo— brother Ray." Said the little girl.

"Ah yes, hello Angel."

"You're gonna call me Angel, too? Only my mother has called me that. Mama said I was like an angel to her, so she called me angel." Said the little girl.

The mother of the little girl named Angel just smiled to see her son who was talking to little Ray.

"So that's not your name?"

The little girl shook her head, "My real nickname was— An~"

"Master. Signore. Mister." The little girl's words were disguised by a call from someone, making Ray open his eyes slowly.

"Is your master okay?" Yohan asked, she accidentally woke up Ray's sleep, as Ray kept mentioning the word 'Angel' repeatedly. Yohan thought her master was having a bad dream.

"I almost knew his real name. Why did you wake me?!" Shouted Ray annoyed.

Eighteen years ago, after getting to know the little girl, he often came to the place to meet the little girl. But their closeness only lasted for one year.

Because of that time suddenly Ray's mother began to be seriously ill, Ray had to go to accompany his mother who was about to seek treatment abroad. Before leaving, he waited for the little girl to say goodbye. But apparently, on the last day of his meeting with the little girl, the little girl named Angel did not come.

Angel is like an angel of life encouragement, he is someone who gives him spirit when he feels depressed with the condition of his family. Actually that day he was crying because his father suddenly brought home a woman and a boy who were four years different from him. Then, suddenly his father said that the woman was his second mother and the boy was his sister.

"I think you're having nightmares again. You're calling Angel's name again."

"Did I call that name again?"

"Yes sir."

"I haven't dreamed of it in a long time."

I wish we could see Angel again, and I wish I could know your real name. Hah— if I knew your real name, maybe now I have found you. — Inner Ray.

"Yohan."

"Yes sir." Reply Yohan.

"Have you heard from him?" Ask Ray.

"I'm sorry sir, we've been trying to find him. But it's very difficult, because the information about him is very little, and also— we don't know his real name."

Ray was silent, he knew that looking for someone he hadn't seen for a long time, it was very difficult. He did not even know the girl's real name. Ray just keeps hoping that someday God will predestine them to meet again.
