The Destiny

The Destiny
Special episode: Yohan and Rachel (Nana)

The rain during the day makes activity disturbed. Some people seemed to be running around looking for a place to shelter.

The body feels more shivering when the wind blows strong, hitting anyone who blocks it.

Rachel clings to Nana, trying to protect the three-year-old from the reach of wind or rain.

"Mother, mother—Nana is cold." Say the girl.

"Yes, baby, I'm sorry. I should've accepted your aunt Ana's offer to take us home." Rachel said the more her embrace.

Both mother and son stood hitchhiking in one of the shophouses. Several times they were kicked out because of Rachel's condition which was soaked and also looked messy, making people think if they were abandoned people who begged for money.

At a time like this, Rachel felt like crying to mourn her fate. Sad to see his son who had to be cold and also hungry because he had not had lunch. Not because he has no money, but because there is no place to rely on for help when both are caught in a rainstorm.

Rachel could have asked Ana for help, her stepbrother would have helped her. But, considering he was a lot of trouble Ana. Of course, Rachel won't ask Ana for help anymore. Under these circumstances, Rachel thought, could it be better if she had a companion who would help her take care of Nana?

"Mother—"

"Be quiet, Nana, I know you're cold and hungry. Please don't say it, hearing it makes mom sad." Said Rachel in a sobbing tone.

The woman clutched her son again, stroking his daughter's hair with affection.

His gaze continued on the highway, hoping for a taxi to pass by. If you had to rely on the bus, it would not be possible. The bus stop is still quite far away, and again, maybe now he and Nana have left behind the last bus that goes to his house.

The sound of car horns from the direction of the highway is heard breaking the sound of heavy rain.

"Rachel!" Call someone who says his name.

Rachel narrowed her eyes, sharpening her vision from the cracks of the raindrops that were still pouring down.

"Rachel!" The voice sounded closer and closer, from the right direction Yohan was walking with an umbrella in hand. The man seemed to run small to immediately approach Rachel and Nana who were already shivering in the cold.

"Sister Yohan." Said Rachel in a trembling tone from the piercing cold.

"Why not ask someone else to pick you up at a time like this? If Madame Ana hadn't told me that you were stubborn enough to choose to go home alone in those cloudy moments, I probably wouldn't be here." Yohan.

"Sorry, I just don't want—"

"Here you go, let's get in the car. Let me take Nana." Yohan interrupted Rachel's words.

Rachel nods her head to Yohan's words, she immediately runs towards Yohan's car parked on the side of the highway.

They got in that car. Rachel sits in the middle of the car with Nana. The woman was still holding her child, giving the little girl warmth.

"Pertain this for her." Yohan said, she took off her thick coat and gave it to Rachel to slip the coat on Nana who looked shivering and pale.

"Thank you." Rachel muttered, still heard by Yohan's ears.

Yohan takes Rachel and Nana to her apartment. He deliberately brought the two because the location of his apartment was closer than Rachel's family home.

After all, after Yohan's mother died a year and a half ago, she felt lonely and rarely returned to this apartment. So, bringing these two women who are very dear to him, might be able to bring a bright color back inside his dark and gloomy apartment.

"Drink." The man gave a warm chocolate to Rachel who had changed clothes. Rachel wears the clothes of Yohan's late mother.

"Thank you, oh, where's Nana?" Asked Rachel, when entering the apartment, Yohan immediately told Rachel to take a warm bath and change clothes in the room of her former mother first. While Yohan, he helped Nana to warm herself. Luckily the little girl was not wet at all.

"There's in my room. After eating a sandwich and a glass of milk, he fell asleep." Reply Yohan.

The man looked at Rachel who was wearing her late mother's clothes.

"It looks like my mom used to be skinny huh, her shirt stuck perfectly in your body." Yohan said sadly remembering her dead mother.

Rachel placed the glass containing hot chocolate on the table, then held the man's hand, giving support to Yohan who looked more reserved after her mother died.

"Everyone will die if God wills it. So, don't dissolve in your grief. I've never been in your position, but that doesn't mean I don't know how you feel." Rachel.

Yohan smiled at him, she nodded, her hands moving gently rubbing the woman's face.

"Thank you." Her speech.

"Em, I'm also grateful to you. Thank you for always being there for us. Thanks for everything." Reply Rachel.

They looked at each other, as if they were looking at every inch of each other's faces. The smiles of the two men never faded from their faces.

Yohan again stuck out her hand, tidying up Rachel's hair that still looked wet, with her gaze that never separated from the woman.

"Rachel." Yohan lirih.

Rachel smiled, though,

"Kak—" No time did Rachel mention the man's name, Yohan had already silenced Rachel's mouth with her lips.

Long they dissolve in a kiss, until then a voice calling Rachel with a mother call makes the woman suddenly release their kiss by pushing Yohan away from her.

"Sin." Rachel said awkwardly, in her heart wondering, Nana saw the scene just now didn't ya?

"You awake?" Ask Rachel again.

Nana nodded, and then walked over to her mother and Yohan. The little girl sat among them.

"What did you do with your uncle?" Nana asked like a plain little boy.

"He saw it." Rachel muttered with a face towards Yohan.

"Nana, that's—paman blowing your mother's eyes in the dust." Yohan gave her alibi.

"Oh." Nana replied, she also did not see it clearly because it was blocked by Rachel's back.

"You still sleepy?" Ask Rachel.

"Yes. But it's late in the afternoon, mom says don't sleep in the afternoon." Answer Nana.

"Smart kid. After the rain subsides, we'll go home." Rachel.

"Going home? Why not just stay here? Nana likes to be at Uncle Yohan's place. Later Yohan's uncle will read the book to Nana while Nana will sleep."

"Book?"

"Yes, uncle said, it's book—"

"Nana, do you want a snack?" Tanya Yohan interrupted.

Nana nodded with a happy smile.

Yohan then stands up from the sofa, she holds Nana and takes her towards the kitchen, leaving Rachel still wondering.

•••

Afternoon passed, now night was present among them. Rainstorms have not subsided, although they can actually break through it by car, but with strong winds like today, it will be very dangerous. Yohan must also have trouble driving. After all, Nana kept whining to stay here one night.

"Nana, it's night, it's time for you to sleep. Come on Nana." Invite Rachel, when the child is still playing a puzzle with Yohan.

"Let's mom." Nana.

Rachel sighed, Yohan turned to look at Rachel who looked like she wanted to get angry, even though she didn't, she just put on her face.

"Sin." Call Rachel again, this time with a warning tone.

"Nana, it's night. Nana sleeps first yeah, we can play this another time." Yohan said softly.

Nana looked at the man sadly,

"But I want my uncle to read the book again before I go to sleep." Nana Pinta.

"That book again?" Rachel asked who was still curious about the book.

"Alright, then you sleep in my room. There's neater, I haven't tidied up my late mother's room in a long time. It's not dusty." Yohan told Rachel.

Without waiting for a response from Rachel, Yohan then carried Nana and took the little girl to her room.

Rachel sighed again, for a moment she was silent on the spot, seeing Yohan's attitude that was always good to her son and herself, making the woman feel happy and also sad. The problem is, even though the man cares about them, and looks interested in Rachel, but until now Yohan has never said anything about the future. Rachel only wishes one thing from the man, Yohan marries him. But, is it possible?

After thinking about all that, Rachel stepped her feet towards the man's room. When entering it, Nana is seen lying on the bed and Yohan is sitting on the side of the mattress with her hands holding a book.

Sounded Yohan was still reading the contents of the book even though Nana was asleep in her sleep.

Rachel walks over to Yohan, who is curious about Nana's favorite book. Then, he took the book from Yohan's hand without permission.

Rachel's eyes widened, then a slow breath sounded from her.

"You read this book to her?" Rachel asked who was astonished at Yohan.

"Why? It—"

"He's still a kid, doesn't understand stuff like this."

Yohan smiled as she took the book back, then saw the book she bought with her first salary. Magif of Thinking Big by David Schwartz. A book that contains the basic science of big dreams to achieve success, where ideals start from a hope and dreams.

"Sometimes children can surpass adults, do not underestimate a child because he is still far below us, let him develop and achieve what he dreams of, do not judge him, but understand him and support him." Yohan.

"meaning?"

"Nana said to me, if one day, she wants to be a successful entrepreneur and also an art expert, she wants to have an entertainment company like the one she saw on the billboard. Then, he wants to make a house for you to take shelter in. That sounds absurd, but it's still a big dream." Yohan replied, her gaze was fixed on Nana who had entered into her dreamland.

Rachel was moved to hear it, all this time she was just made busy by work, preparing herself to continue college and also take care of Nana. Never once did he take the time to ask his son about such a thing.

"Sometimes you need to take the time to talk to her." Advice Yohan.

Rachel smiled, though,

"Surely, thank you for telling me."

Yohan nodded, though,

"I think he's going to be an amazing kid someday." He said, with a view that still continues to be directed at Nana.

"I hope so." Rachel muttered, she also looked at the little girl who had fallen asleep in a beautiful dream.

Viewed from any point of view, the two of them were currently like a parent looking at their child with full hope in their hearts.

May you be happy Nana — Heart says.
