- B's PoV--
*Raffles Hospital Singapore 2003*
"You managed to see him?" I looked into his eyes as the question was uttered from Aditya's paled lips. Lips that kissed me several times without warning.
"B???" Aditya said my name again, because I never returned his words. A few seconds later, I replied by shaking my head.
Aditya exhaled his breath violently. He took his grip off my hand before saying something.
"I don't need your mother's feelings or your guilt. Didn't I tell you that I let you go?" Aditya stared at the ceiling of the hospital room.
I don't know why my heart throbbed as he mentioned the word 'detach' again. Does that mean that he doesn't want to deal with me anymore?
I realized that I had made the fatal mistake of putting pepper on her food. Aditya almost died because of my actions. It should've been a risk to me, if he hated me and didn't want to deal with me anymore.
And... Isn't that what I've been hoping for all this time? Isn't that what I want? But why do I feel hurt by his words?
Aditya straightened his body suddenly. I was aware of his movements and then tried to help the man.
"No need! I can still be alone." Aditya said as he raised his hand.
I was finally forced to remove my hand from Aditya's body for fear of disturbing his comfort. And by the time that happened, I again felt that my heart was throbbing pain.
My tears drip spontaneously then. Even so, I was still trying to hide it from Aditya. I even cursed myself. Why am I being so whiny now?
After sitting comfortably, Aditya then turned his head to the right and left like looking for something. His eyes continued to search until it ended up on an object lying on the nightstand. The man then took the thing. A cell phone of his.
As soon as he managed to get the phone, I saw Aditya rush to press a call. The man then brought the cordless phone to his ear.
📞 'Hello...' (Adity)
📞 '.....................' (Unknown)
📞 'We failed to meet him earlier. Do you know how long the man was in Singapore?' (Adity)
📞 '..................' (Unknown)
📞 'He's gone? After events?' (Adity)
📞 '................' (Unknown)
📞 'Where?' (Adity)
📞 '.....................' (Unknown)
📞 'Trace where it went! Search again for its existence until it can, after that do not forget to give news immediately!' (Adity)
After he finished giving the order, the man then put his phone back on the nightstand. Having seen him contemplate things for a moment, at the same time I also found a look of disappointment in Aditya's empty eyes.
"Your love left Singapore immediately after the competition was over." Aditya is looking at me. Our eyes met for a moment before I lowered my head.
"I'm sorry... I don't disrespect your efforts to..." I tried to apologize without daring to look him in the eye and the man I apologized for suddenly cut me off.
"It's not all your fault, B! I'm not supposed to be among you." Aditya looked at me with a look full of regret.
I was still standing beside her as Aditya spoke. I did not dare to move from where I was standing.
"I have to admit that I'm interested in you, B! Maybe not at our initial meeting. I started to feel that attraction just when you were dancing with Syailendra at the hotel that day." Highlight Aditya's eyes glare. Maybe he was imagining our meeting at the hotel first.
"I can read that you're not an easily conquered woman and a little expensive. You really challenged me as a man. That's what makes me more interested in you." I still listened to Aditya's words without any intention of interrupting him. I could feel that he was telling the truth.
"Did you know that I also gave you a nickname?" Aditya was waiting for me to reply. But I really couldn't think of anything back then.
"Star." The man then put on a sincere smile.
The star? I remember that he once called me that name. At that time he did not know that I was just pretending to sleep.
"You know why?" I shook my head. To be honest, there were a few reasons in my mind. For example, maybe because I was not touched by it? But I don't want to speculate.
"Because you can bring out your own light. You shine your way, B. That's what makes a Bellatrix Atmaja different from any other woman I've ever met." Aditya looked at me deeply to show the solemnity of his words.
I grew more and more silent hearing Aditya's words. Not knowing whether I should feel happy or sad because it turns out he did not mention physical reasons, as I had always thought to be a strong consideration for him to have me.
"Unfortunately, then I made a fatal mistake. I thought that you also had an interest in me. I was thinking maybe B likes a little 'rogue' guy like me." Aditya smiled wryly, as if laughing at his stupidity.
"And worse still, I thought that all your cold attitude was just camouflage to cover up your interest in me." He shook his head like a man who was astonished at the contents of his own mind.
A while later, Aditya took a deep breath and exhaled violently. Although his condition is much more stable at the moment, but I realize he is not in his best condition yet.
"I... Too confident....." The eyes of the man again implied disappointment.
"After our marriage took place, after all the rejection you showed, I just realized that you never actually pretended to be your attitude." Aditya paused for a moment.
"You hate me." Aditya looked back at me who still chose to be quiet.
"You hate me and maybe you're disgusted by me. Is that B?" The eyes full of sadness became clearer at the center of his eyes as Aditya asked the question.
I didn't answer. I was afraid of hurting Aditya even more with my answer.
"You haven't even called me by my name in all this time, except when we're saying our wedding vows." He realized. I can't believe he's been paying so much attention to me all this time.
"And maybe you were expecting me too.... Die." Aditya continued his words. The man even smiled back as if he was fine with what he had just said.
"I-I didn't do that because I wanted your death." This time I cut off his words. I didn't mean to defend myself, but I was so hurt when he said that I wanted his death.
"When I went to your office, I overheard your conversation with Franky. I heard as if you were going to eliminate Indra. That's why I did all that to hinder you." I explained to Aditya while wiping away the tears that I could no longer hide from him.
"To be honest, I didn't expect that the effect would be this severe.. Hix.. Hix...I'm sorry...." My crying broke unstoppably. I tried to explain that everything was worse than I could have imagined.
My cry grew louder when I found her treatment. I realized that Aditya was really keeping his distance from me.
"As you can see, I'm still alive, so you don't have to feel guilty anymore." Aditya spoke while shifting his body position slowly and was about to reach the glass that was on the nightstand.
I want to help that man. However, given his refusal earlier, I chose to back off my intentions.
Aditya kept trying to reach his drinking glass. His infused hands made him miserable.
"You want a drink? Let me help you!" I finally offered to help.
"Sorry, my hands are hard to reach. Could you please get me a glass of water, B. My throat feels so dry." Aditya asked me gently. Without delay, I walked a little to get a glass of water for him.
"What's wrong with your leg?" Aditya saw my left leg that was covered in wounds from falling in the parking lot from behind the hemisphere of my dance dress.
I haven't changed my clothes since I walked out of the showhouse. How can I think of changing clothes when I know that Aditya hasn't been around since he arrived at the hospital? I even refused to be treated, even though Franky kept forcing me. At that time, I could indeed think of nothing else, other than Aditya's safety.
"Fall down for not carefully stepping. Here drink. Do I need to help?" I offered to help, but he did not respond and chose to keep staring at my feet.
"Who made you like this?" Aditya clenched his hand holding back the anger.
"I fell by myself. Its alright. It's not much. Don't think too much, you're still not stable!" I tried to cover the wound with my dress but it still didn't work. If I had known that he would be that sweet, I would have taken the time to change clothes.
"They didn't treat you? Were their eyes blind, until the wounds were not visible?" Aditya now looks annoyed.
"Here drink. I'll treat him later." I tried to distract him but he got more emotional until he shook my hand and the glass came off.
Pyarrs!!
I was surprised by Aditya's rude and spontaneous sobbing. I was back to being afraid of him.
"I'm sorry... Sorry, I'm out of control." Aditya touched my hand and pulled my body closer to him.
"I'm worried about you, B! I don't like you mopping up those wounds. I'm afraid there's an infection in your wound" Aditya said gently.
"I woke up with you sleeping in an uncomfortable sitting position next to me and then saw you hurt like that. I'm really worried" he continued.
"Relove.. Lie down beside me. You should rest too." Aditya shifted his body, leaving a place wide enough for me.
"I-I'm fine. No need...." Aditya quickly cut my words.
"I won't be rude to you, B. Don't get me wrong! I will keep my distance so you are comfortable. I just want you to rest well. The patient's waiting bed is too narrow and not as comfortable as this bed. Come here!" Aditya patted the empty space beside him.
I was silent at the thought of her request, wiping away my tears. This was not the first time we slept next to each other. I shouldn't have to be awkward.
In the end I followed Aditya's words. Anyway I have to keep his emotions stable, because he has just recovered. I slowly sat my body on the bed and laid it beside the man.
"Sleep!" Aditya.
"You, aren't you drinking?" I asked hesitantly. I was quite worried that if in this weak state, he would have to endure the thirst again.
"Can you take it again?" I lightly extended my hand to take the medium-sized bottle of mineral water provided there, then handed it to Aditya.
He drank the water in the bottle and gulped it down to half before handing it back to me. Next, I put the bottle in its original position.
Finished quenching his thirst, Aditya laid his body in a back position. While I chose to sleep on my back facing the ceiling.
The next few minutes we passed in silence. Me and Aditya must have both tried to go back to sleep, but still couldn't.
"Can I ask you a question?" I dared myself to start the conversation this time because of the drowsiness that never came.
"Difficult to sleep?" Aditya suddenly turned his body towards me.
Degs.. Degs..
Degs.. Degs..
Our position became very close. This heart again shows the same reaction as before. I really don't know how to control my body whenever I'm close to Aditya.
"What do you want to ask?" Aditya looks at me.
"Have you ever loved me?" The question slid free from my lips accompanied by Aditya's suddenly enlarged pupils, as if in shock.
Holy hooch! What did I just say?
"I-i mean. You said you were interested in me. So, it's possible that those feelings of interest develop and. and..." I spoke stammering in panic at my own words. I haven't had time to finish my words Aditya suddenly interjected.
"What answer do you expect B?" Aditya asked back after neutralizing his expression.
"Huh? I-i...." What does the question mean? Is he playing me now.
"What do you want with that question?" Aditya's back to making me nervous. What do I want?
"I-i... Y-you know that I love other people. I hope you don't love me, so you... You're... No. whoa...." Damnit damnit! Why did I have to ask like this?
"Then think about what makes you comfortable and light. That's my answer." Aditya paused his words again.
"After all, isn't that all meaningless now? Whatever my answer will never change our circumstances. Ever since I saw you leave me at the hotel dying, I realized that whatever I said and did could not change how you felt about me. Forever, I'll just be a stranger. That's why I let you go, B!" Aditya looked at me for a moment before turning his back and turning his back.
Once again I felt my heart throbbing in pain because of his words. Pain that I shouldn't have to feel because I don't love her. Or.. maybe because I kept denying the feeling I had secretly loved her.
