A pale moon peeked out from behind a dark cloud, leaving behind a small rectangular beam of light that pierced through the small window of the holding cell.
Jieru leaned against the cold wall while looking at a light form on the ground floor. His hands were tightly tied to his back.
Outside, the white moonlight shone on a row of tall, dark wooden poles on a gentle hill.
When he looked at one of the wooden poles on the ramps and imagined himself tied there as a death sentence, Jieru smiled faintly.
Suddenly the moonlight disappeared. The narrow cell is now pitch-black.
Jieru turned and saw a silhouette outside the window, blocking the moonlight.
"Dad!" there was a loud whisper.
"Hua Zu?"
Hua Zu looked at his father, half of his face hidden in the dark. "I came to save you."
"Saved me?" Jieru frowned, casting a reproachful look. "Based on a foolish child," his grunts were fierce.
Hua Zu flinched.
"We're on our way to safety, Hua Zu!" father says. Those words spewed out with anger. "And you're trying to ruin his plan!"
Hua Zu could see his father's dark eyes staring at him, watching him coldly. "But, Ayah—" he sighed softly.
"Go! You don't know what you're doing" Jieru cut in an accusatory tone, his black eyes gleaming with rage.
Hua Zu gulped with great difficulty. He retreated from the window and turned quickly to the left and to the right. After being sure that no one was around, he brought his face closer to the window. "I won't let you get crushed" he said bitterly.
"You'll be crushed if you stay here!" whispered Jieru fierce.
"I don't care!" Hua Zu insisted. His voice was stuck in his throat. He took a deep breath, then tried again. "I just found you!"
"And you'll never find me again forever if you don't leave soon!" Jieru looked at his son, his face stiff, his eyes as cold as his words.
Hua Zu instantly fell silent. Both of his shoulders hung limp on his sides.
"You don't think I can escape?" whispered Jieru.
Hua Zu did not reply. In his heart he confirmed the words of his father. His father could have let go if he wanted to. Then why didn't he do it? hua Zu thought he did not understand.
"Listen, Hua Zu!" his father warned. "Our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against governments, against rulers, against the rulers, against the rulers of this dark world, against the evil spirits of the air."
Hua Zu looked worried.
"Thank you for your sword, Jiyan!" Jieru.
Hua Zu frowned in surprise.
"Give me victory for Yuoji! That is your destiny!" Jieru.
Hua Zu finally gave up. Then get away from the window, sneak into the darkness and disappear.
In her heart, Hua Zu hoped that her father could give a good explanation of her plan. But then he tried to convince himself that whatever his father's plan was, of course, very good.
The next day Hua Zu disguised himself as a Luoji-clad noble-like fellow, then rushed across the square towards the prison.
The various horses stopped grazing to raise their heads, neighing in surprise and looking towards Hua Zu.
The sun fell behind the trees, scattering beams of pink light in the afternoon sky.
A half-circle pale moon was already visible in the sky, peering out from behind the towering tower of the Guardian Spirit Hall.
For Hua Zu that day passed like in a fog. Time stopped moving, and it froze with it.
When the sun started to sink and dusk came, Hua Zu was excited again.
Hua Zu could not wait to see his father's plan. And just in case, he had slipped a lot of chicae in almost his entire body. Even behind the cuff under the elegant hanfu arm she found from Xiao Yu's wardrobe.
As the low-roofed, red brick-walled prison building came into view, Hua Zu's heart was pounding with excitement.
Can't wait to see the show!
Can't wait to collaborate again with his father in a thrilling battle that will obliterate all horrors and wipe out all nightmares.
Hua Zu slowed his pace, then stopped to take a breath. He lifted his face and saw people crowding in front of the prison.
Their faces were invisible to Hua Zu, hidden under the shadow of a caping or veil of a face. But he knew some of them were his men, his comrades, a brave army of the dead ready to fight.
As he got closer to them, his knees relaxed and his legs trembled.
Then the door opens.
A soldier appeared. Following other soldiers.
Several other soldiers came out and stood in front of the crowd while whispering.
Jieru finally appeared before long, his hands tied on his back, his head bowed as he walked past the doorway.
Two prisoners followed closely behind him, his shadow appearing blue on the hard grey ground.
Hua Zu watched his father as he pressed forward through the crowd of people.
Jieru raised his eyes and glanced at him.
Hua Zu stepped forward in front of the crowd of people watching. Then waiting.
Waiting for Jieru to give a sign.
The middle-aged man still looked calm.
Hua Zu tightened his jaw when he saw one of the officers pushing Jieru hard from behind to make the beak man almost topple over. He tried to strengthen his heart, calm himself. I believe you, Dad! he said in his heart.
"Dad!" A girl screamed. He muttered, broke away, then ran towards one of the prisoners behind Jieru. "Let go of my father! Let go of my father!"
The girl looked shocked and horrified to see the prisoners had been taken to the center of the square and tied to a tall wooden pole.
"Yinoooooooo!" The screams and protests of the girl split the night like the howls of a desperate beast.
"Ming!" the prisoner screamed loudly, his face wrinkled with horror. "Why are you here?"
"I.." The girl tried to talk. But his voice was stuck in his throat when he saw a number of ninja-clad men complete with headgear and face veils starting to prepare in their respective places and wielding the sky sword.
"Go...!" The prisoner begged his daughter. "Go from here!" his screams.
"No!" shouted daughter. Someone tried to prevent it.
Lim Shin Wu stood tensely on the edge of the crowd, watching the execution of the punishment. His face was gloomy and sad, hidden behind his armor helmet. His breathing was wheezing, his face was red, his gaze blurred from the tears of anger. His hand dangled limply to the left-right of the formidable commander's coat.
"This is all the fate of the Creator" he heard someone muttering. "Let's pray for their souls."
The girl lunged forward, growled furiously, and shouted out her protest. Then he suddenly fell silent as in an instant the ninjas darted towards the pole and slammed their swords into the chest of the prisoners simultaneously.
YOOOOOOOOO!!!
The sound of a thunderous explosion scattered the black stone fragments lit up into the air.
The ice is all over the place.
Hua Zu blinked and held his breath. Waiting for the sign from his father. But then it only froze with a paled face as the dust mixed with fire and the rocks began to settle down, and found his father just drooping on his pole.
