"Not got to!" hua Zu Scorn.
His father only chuckled thinly while slipping back his two daggers to where they were. "I don't want to kill them" he said without the slightest burden. "As long as they don't eat ginseng," she licked later.
Hua Zu let out a short sigh and shrugged his shoulders. Then lean over to collect the ginseng splattered on the ground.
"Why does everyone call Daddy a farmer?" Hua Zu asked his father without distracting him from his work. "Didn't you have a name?"
"Dad believes that everyone is known for his work" replied his father, patting his hands together to brush off the dirt. "Grandfather Ghou brought me to this village when I was a child" he continued, shaking his waist.
Hua Zu finally raised his face.
"The whole village adopted me," his father continued with a slanted smile. "Every family took turns to look after me from time to time. But Grandpa Ghou, he always had a special interest in me."
"I'm glad you have a family now" Hua Zu said innocently. "And I'm glad it's us!" He added with a smile to his father.
His father smiled faintly, "Me too" he said as he glanced across the field.
An old man, wearing a white changsan on a black trousers lined with a long skirt of legs, approached them while leading a fat pig but moving agilely. "You want my babi?" he offered.
Hua Zu turned his head and smiled at the man. The old man replied with a blink of an eye. The old man was his grandfather. Ghou Jingmi - Zhou Jieru's adoptive father.
Grandpa Ghou!
"The same deal" Grandpa Ghou. "As usual!"
Jieru lifted his face and looked at the old man while shaking his waist. "Corny winter swine?" grunts.
"Deal never changes" Grandpa Ghou argued, filled with veiled meaning.
"Now is a difficult time" complained Jieru. "This long drought's like it's never gonna end."
"I've seen worse" said Grandpa Ghou. "Rather than that, I heard there was a recruitment done by the emperor. I think being a soldier will be treated well" he advised.
"I already own this land," responded Jieru. "Isn't that enough?"
"You have a family" murmured Grandpa Ghou. "Can't live anymore. Don't you want to test your courage?"
Jieru did not respond to it. He bends down to dredge the ground that scatters out of the grill with his feet and gathers it back to the gripper.
"I mean, is it worth it that courage is only used for survival?" Grandpa Ghou added.
Jieru did not react.
"Again, Nongnim!" Grandpa Ghou groaned. "Do I have to kill you just to talk for a minute?" his gerut is impatient. "I mean, we're not animals. Humans should talk to each other to communicate!"
Jieru finally raised his face and turned to Grandpa Ghou. "Papa Ghou, if by speaking this radish is uprooted, I will do as you say," he said. "When the rain came, this land turned into clay. Even without you talking, it was plucked from the ground by itself," he said as he pointed at the basket filled with ginseng with his chin.
Grandfather Ghou let out a rough sigh, then glanced at Hua Zu, "That's what I like about your father, Hua Zu!" he tells. "He always knew how to cultivate the mood," he said cynically.
Hua Zu only smiled obliquely in response to his grandfather.
Jieru actually did not mind being invited to discuss, he was just not interested in the topic of conversation his adoptive father had chosen.
Grandfather Ghou did not understand, how much Jieru hated the emperor. It's bad enough he's colonized this country, he thought. Why should I give myself up to be personally colonized and give myself up to be his slave?
Although Grandpa Ghou had cared for Jieru since he was Hua Zu's age, the secret of Jieru's leadership in the Kuangre Dagger Sect had never been known to him.
The Kuangre Dagger Sect highly upholds secrecy.
Even if you're a member of his family!
"Tell Grandpa Ghou where we keep his corn supplies!" jieru's orders to Hua Zu.
Grandpa Ghou grinned widely, then walked up to Hua Zu and stretched out his pigsty, "Here we go, Hua Zu! Take your baby," he said.
"I thought you'd wait for dinner?" jieru exclaimed as the old man had already turned around and walked following Hua Zu.
Grandpa Ghou immediately stopped, then turned his head with an annoying grin. "Maybe if you insist," he said in pleasantries.
Jieru chuckled and shook his head, while Grandpa Ghou continued his steps.
A while later, they had already joined Jia Lin at the dining table.
The beautiful woman wore a soft-colored knee-length qipao, as gentle as her patient personality.
It was Hua Zu's mother!
Moving lightly and nimble when going back and forth between the corner of the kitchen and the dining table to prepare dishes, Jia Lin continued to smile at Grandpa Ghou. "It's good to have you, Papa Ghou!" gersih. "You should come here often, it would be more fun!" He added while preparing the feeding device for the old man.
"He's been farming since he started growing up" Grandpa Ghou said. "Added now that he already had a family of his own.I think he might need a little rest!" he berkilah.
Jia Lin pulled out one of the benches and sat down near Grandpa Ghou.
"You mean Grandpa Ghou, you should just stop farming and join the king's army?" Hua Zu asked Grandpa Ghou, who automatically responded to the shocked look from his mother.
"Wait a minute!" sergeant Grandpa Ghou while glaring at Hua Zu. "I didn't say that!"
Jia Lin frowned, looking at Hua Zu and Grandpa Ghou in turn.
Jieru chuckled while plucking food from the plate into his bowl with chopsticks, "Yes, Grandpa Ghou didn't say that, Hua Zu!" jest. "He said being the king's army could make a lot of money!"
"Nongnim, you didn't take his words seriously, did you?" Jia Lin looked at her husband with an anxious expression.
Jieru groaned while twirling his eyeballs, "You are my family" he said. "I'm not going anywhere!" Then look at Grandpa Ghou. "That answers your question, doesn't it?" tanyakanya.
"I'm just talking!" grandpa Ghou defended himself.
"Yes, yeah, yeah!" Jieru chuckles. "Just talk. But everyone has different talents," he said, not to lose. "Ah—if Papa Ghou seems to only be able to talk?" his taunts pretended to be shocked.
"And judging others seems to be your talent!" reply Grandpa Ghou.
Jia Lin burst into laughter. Then she leaned over to her husband across the table, "Can I have the chicken?" he asked for help.
Jieru held up the chicken plate to Jia Lin, "Don't give it to Papa Ghou!" his jokes without laughing.
Grandpa Ghou growled at Jieru giggling, mimicking an angry vampire, his hands pretending to grab Jieru by the neck, making Hua Zu laugh out loud.
The cheerful atmosphere made Jieru's heart warm as well as sore. There will be times when I miss this kind of atmosphere, he said in his heart. Somehow he always felt that he would lose everything he had now at some point.
Soon, his worries became a reality.
A number of men in mysterious uniforms knew that they had surrounded their homes, breaking down doors and all windows simultaneously to cause crackling and thumping sounds.
They jumped from their respective seats and instantly the atmosphere turned rowdy.
