The next day, early in the morning, Pao Lu came out of the courtroom followed by the two shackled Hua Zu, meeting the Yuoji people who were huddled in the courtroom.
It was the 14th day of Changshi according to the Yuoji calendar. One more day, they will celebrate the feast. It is traditional for the Mayor of the State to release one person punishment on each feast day, by the choice of the crowd.
”I didn't find any fault with him." Pao Lu pointed at the golden-haired Hua Zu. "But you have a custom, that on every feast day I will deliver a punishment for you. Will you, that I may free the king of the Naselites for you?”
But due to the incitement of the higher-ups of the Guardian Spirit Hall and the elders of the Yuoji people, the crowd was determined to demand that Zhou Hua Zu be released and Zhu Hua Zu be put to death.
”Don't He, but Zhou Hua Zu! Free Zhou Hua Zu for us!"
Pao Lu frowned. Then ask them, ”Then, what should I do with Zhu Hua Zu, called Mi Sai Ya?”
They all exclaimed, ”He must be crushed!”
Pao Lu then asked once again, ”But what crime has he committed?”
But the crowd was shouting louder, ”He must be crushed!”
"Blow him down!"
"Blow down that Legion!"
The crowd shouted out loudly in disdain as they brandished their fists into the air.
Golden-haired Hua Zu, standing in a daze on the court porch with a trembling body and scarred with wounds, the soldiers had bullied him all morning. His white robes that were limited to the eyes had mostly been torn here and there and turned a brownish red color. Both of his hands were chained in front of his body, bundled with both of his legs.
Pao Lu turned his face in any direction and raised his jaw. Then moving one of her hands beckoned the soldiers to release the black-haired Hua Zu.
The black-haired Hua Zu glanced towards the golden-haired Hua Zu through the corner of his eyes, as the two soldiers removed the shackles from his hands and feet. The wounds on his body were no less scared due to the fighting plus torture in prison.
It was indeed deserved for the black-haired Hua Zu, Lim Shin Wu thought. But what's wrong with the golden-haired Hua Zu? his inner.
He had heard the matter that the golden-haired Hua Zu bore from the mouths of the soldiers guarding outside the golden-haired Hua Zu cell.
"A psychopath has gathered many followers to oppose the doctrine of the Hall of the Protective Spirit. The council decided to eliminate him because he claimed himself as Mi Sai Ya" one soldier told another. "He even sent some idiots to testify that he raised the dead."
I am his witness, Lim Shin Wu said in his heart. But he knew he couldn't do much against Ma Tuoli. And it hurt him more. Xi Xia will stay away from me after today, his mind bitter.
The black-haired Hua Zu turned his gaze to the middle of the crowd. Then turned back to look at the golden-haired Hua Zu. He proved it! he said in his heart. He really got me out of here, and the way was completely unexpected. What am I supposed to do now?
Immediately, the golden-haired Hua Zu returned the gaze of the black-haired Hua Zu. "Go!" he said through the language of light. "I've prepared someone to kill and raise you!"
The black-haired Hua Zu blinked and glanced at him once more.
"Trust me!" said Hua Zu with golden hair.
Shortly thereafter the guards brought the golden-haired Hua Zu back into the courtroom to smother him. The iron chains shackling him rattled behind the man, dragged in his shuffled steps.
That man was Xi Mo.
Xi Mo's? Hua Zu frowned. Is he still alive?
Hua Zu rushed down from the foyer, when he saw Xi Mo rush away from the place, then try to catch up with him. But his comrades and men from both sects simultaneously swarmed him at the bottom of the stairs, in the courthouse's courtyard, and began scrambling to embrace Hua Zu here and there. They all disguised themselves as migrants and dressed like merchants from the Middle East. Some of them just bowed respectfully to him, congratulating him.
That support should have belonged to the golden-haired Hua Zu. A girl sat bitterly watching the ceremony.
Hua Zu tried to expose the crowd in a hurry, almost shouting to call Xi Mo's figure who had drowned in the sea of masses and was getting away. But then he realized his friends were still crowding him. They all knew Xi Mo had died at the foot of Jingling Mountain.
The shiny black-haired youth then looked around and forced a smile towards his comrades and his men who were swarming at him as he continued to try to get out of the crowd.
Some people started to push each other and expose the crowd to make way for Hua Zu. But most of them seemed unwilling to release the man, so everyone who was about to leave the yard had to crimp in front of the gate, pressed by the Shashou horde from behind.
As soon as Hua Zu and his entourage arrived in front of a girl who had been watching him since, the girl spontaneously turned away while pulling the hood of her robe, covering half of her face, especially since Hua Zu caught her watching. Hurriedly the girl turned her body back at the man, then rushed away from the crowd.
Hua Zu observed the girl with squinted eyes. Then look at everyone around him. Those Shashou are still pinching him here and there. An idea instantly flashed across Hua Zu's head. "I looked at Xi Mo," his scrooge pointed at the crowd, the place where Xi Mo disappeared.
"You sure it's Xi Mo?" some of his colleagues asked doubtfully. "Wasn't he…"
"I think he managed to escape death and hide all this time!" answer Hua Zu.
A moment later, the Shashou were already moving, scattering to and fro and away from Hua Zu, then rushing in unison looking for Xi Mo.
The girl stopped running after feeling certain that she was far enough away from Hua Zu, just to rest for a while to calm her breath. For a moment he looked back, to the place where he met Hua Zu and his supporters. But he found the man had disappeared from his place.
Even the Shashou he knew as a group of merchants from the Middle East had not seen one around the place.
The girl jerked her body, turned to face back, then circled her gaze, scrutinizing the crowd of people milling about. Then a short sigh while patting his chest. He turned his body again and hurried to leave the courthouse without noticing his steps.
BRUK!
The girl's face hit someone's chest. The girl raised her face.
A shiny black haired man glared at him while scapegoating.
The girl screeched stifled while smothering her mouth.
Zu Hua!
The man knew that he was in front of him and confronted him.
The girl gulped and stuttered.
