There's Only One Bed

Sunlight barged in through the window. Thomas woke up earlier than Ruby.

As Thomas wakes up, Ruby who is asleep in Thomas's arm soon wakes up.

"You sleeping here?" ask Ruby.

"I couldn't take you out of my arm so I'm accompanying you to sleep here" Thomas replied.

Ruby smiled shyly.

"If we're married later, we're free to sleep together, right?" Thomas teases Ruby.

"Darling, I'm ashamed!" Ruby patted Thomas's arm and went to the bathroom to wash his face and brush his teeth.

Thomas catches up with Ruby and hugs her from behind. In the mirror reflected the shadows of the two of them staring at each other.

"Darling," Thomas smiled as he coded Ruby.

I heard something clashing loudly. Thomas immediately ran out and checked the situation.

"Honey here" Thomas pulls Ruby's hand.

Thomas immediately took Ruby to the room.

In the alley there was a voice for help.

"What's wrong?" ask Ruby.

"Some men tried to break into your neighbor's house in front. It was drunk" replied Thomas.

"Call the police" Ruby said.

Thomas picked up his phone, suddenly the sound of something breaking. The sound was very close to Ruby's room.

"It looks like they entered this house" Thomas whispered. Thomas locked the door and called the police.

I heard a man laughing very loudly. Not wrong again, they've entered Ruby's house.

Ruby was so scared that she almost cried. Thomas looked panicked and hugged Ruby.

"They won't come here. I'm protecting you," said Thomas.

There was still the sound of people laughing outside Ruby's room. Ruby is very afraid if those people will damage her belongings or even steal.

"Are they not going to take the things that are in my house?" ask Ruby about Thomas.

"Let's go, I can't be sure" Thomas replied.

Ruby tried to sneak and peek from the keyhole of her bedroom door but Thomas immediately pulled Ruby's hand.

"Ruby!" Thomas snaps.

"I'm afraid they're stealing things in this house" Ruby replied with a face that showed that she was annoyed with Thomas.

"You're more concerned with things than your own safety?" Thomas seemed a little emotional.

Ruby just kept quiet and obeyed Thomas' words to get away from the door.

Half an hour they waited for the police, from a distance there was a siren sound.

"What is a police car?" ask Ruby.

"I don't know" Thomas replied, hoping that the police would come to their place.

While waiting, Ruby resignedly heard the items in his house one by one broke. He was no longer worried about things but worried more about himself because he and Thomas were increasingly cornered. The drunken people instead of going even more to tear apart the entire house Ruby.

"Silent. I'm sure the police are trying to catch these fucking people, "Thomas is trying to calm Ruby who just fell silent from earlier.

Ruby hugged Thomas tightly.

The sound of footsteps was quite loud, it seemed like more than one person.

"Honey, that looks like a cop" Thomas said.

Ruby's face that was initially tense seemed a little relieved even though in her heart there was still fear.

The sound of items being thrown was clearly heard. Police fired warning shots. This made Ruby even more nervous.

"It seems like those people are not willing to give up so easily" Thomas murmured.

Thomas continues to pacify Ruby by saying that Ruby's house already has police so there's nothing to worry about.

In the midst of fear, Ruby and Thomas embrace each other with a dark room atmosphere because Ruby's room switch is located outside the room.

"I love you" Thomas kissed Ruby's forehead.

"I love you too, dear," replied Ruby.

Geck.. Geck.. Geck..

There was a knock on Ruby's door. Thomas buttoned his shirt and peered out of the keyhole.

"It's the police" a police officer's voice sounded outside Ruby's room.

Thomas immediately opened the door and told Ruby to stay behind him.

The police wanted to ask Ruby and Thomas for information related to the actions of several drunken young men who broke into Ruby's house and her neighbors. They spoke in the living room. Ruby's neighbor whose house was also almost entered by drunk people also came to Ruby's house.

After they told him everything, the police then left Ruby's house.

There was a gunshot that was very close to Ruby's house.

Yeah, that shot came from inside Ruby's house. Ruby and Thomas, who had just escorted the police out of Ruby's house, were shocked to hear the sound. Neighbor Ruby who also heard straight into his house.

Two men came out of Ruby's kitchen with a gun. They were shocked to see the two men thinking that the police had arrested the drunken men.

The two men pointed their guns at Ruby and Thomas. Thomas tried to call the police by taking the cell phone in his pocket secretly.

"Don't you dare call the police" one of the men snapped.

Thomas did not move. Ruby was stunned because she felt that today was the last day they lived.

"Put your cell phone on the floor" the man with the big, stocky body ordered.

Thomas took his phone out of his pocket and put it on the table.

"What do you want?" ask Ruby.

"Free our friends" replied the man.

Ruby and Thomas stared at each other. That means it is true that they suspect that these two men are colleagues of some drunk people who were arrested by the police. But it remains a question of how they got into Ruby's house and whether the police did not check in detail to anticipate if anyone was hiding.

While thinking these two men are holding Ruby and Thomas hostage.

Ruby shouted loudly for help which made one of the men panic and hit Ruby on the head with the handle of the gun. Ruby immediately fainted. Thomas who was silent resigned from earlier immediately rebelled when he saw his lover fainted. He tried to escape but suffered the same fate as Ruby. Thomas's head did not escape the hit of the gun handle and made him faint.

Silent and dark. Oil lamps are the only source of lighting in the place. The room looked like a bamboo woven reot hut. There's a bed there. Thomas and Ruby were locked up in that place. But they are free, not bound and can shout loudly.

"Is this place so remote that we're left untethered and free to scream?" ruby asked herself.

"Surely they have made sure that no one can find our whereabouts" Thomas replied.

There was a bamboo table. There is boiled corn and grilled yam available. Hungry, Thomas and Ruby ate the food there.

"Even they provide food for us" Thomas said.

"And drink too," replied Ruby while taking coconut water that is still stored in her black shell.

They eat because they are hungry. Until they finally finished eating.

"Honey, we have to figure out a way to get out of this place" Thomas said.

Ruby looked around. There were only wooden windows and wooden doors that could be utilized for the way out of the place. The wooden window is too small. Even a tiny Ruby would not be enough if it had to pass through the wooden window.

"The only way out is through the door, so we have to break that door down" Ruby said.

Thomas agreed with Ruby. After all, the wooden door did not look sturdy and easy to break.

"Honey, bring this leftover food," Ruby said.

Thomas took off his shirt and put the leftovers on the table into his shirt, and he tied it up.

Suddenly the wind blew strong, heavy rain in that place.

"Alright, it looks like we'll have to wait a little longer" Ruby said.

Thomas hugs Ruby and they lie on the bed.

"I love you" said Thomas.

"Me too, of course," replied Ruby.

They hugged in the middle of the storm that happened that morning.

"It looks like this storm is going to be a long time" Ruby said.

Thomas brings his body closer to Ruby, kissing Ruby's forehead while rubbing Ruby's back.

Ruby is still enjoying her time with her boyfriend.

"Darling.."
