Past Life

The noise woke Ruby and Felix. The clock on Ruby's new phone shows at 6am, and looks like some missed calls from Thomas.

"Geez Thomas!" Ruby looked at the window.

It turned out that what he suspected was indeed true, Thomas was now there. Felix approached the window, looking at the crowd of people standing there.

"What are they doing? That's your ex-boyfriend, right?" ask Felix.

"Yes," Ruby went straight out of the room.

"I want to talk" Felix chases after Ruby, who is now outside the room.

"Say," replied Ruby.

"Why did you tell him to come here?" ask Felix.

"I asked her to help bring the person who can get rid of the tree, so that I can go home soon," Ruby replied as she leaned against the wall.

"If it's that easy, from a while ago I've been looking for help," Felix felt Ruby didn't believe him. His pride as a man seemed to fall after knowing Ruby asked for help from other men, especially it was his former lover.

"What do you mean?"

"The land and its contents in the area are privately owned, belong to the Poppy family and not to the government so we cannot be careless without asking for their permission" Felix explained.

"Then?" Ruby did not take Felix's explanation seriously.

"Honey, I've spoken to Poppy but she said, her mother didn't allow the tree to be moved" Felix replied.

Ruby wondered why the big trees blocking the road should not be moved. According to him, it would not be more visitors who stay at the motel if access to the open road without tree disturbance was down. And what makes Ruby even more surprised, when Felix had a conversation with Poppy.

"When did you get to talk to Poppy?" ask Ruby.

"When you caught me," Felix answered honestly.

"I took advantage of that opportunity to find information" he added.

"That's it. I'm going to see Thomas, "Ruby just left Felix.

Felix of course followed Ruby, she obviously did not want it until her lover fell back into Thomas' embrace. For no apparent reason, Felix now considers Thomas his enemy.

"Hi Thomas," said Ruby.

All eyes were on Ruby. Poppy's mother, Poppy, Thomas and the four men Thomas had taken with him.

"Ruby, finally," said Thomas.

"Why are you telling these people to come?" ask Poppy's mom.

"I just want to get home quickly, with a tree like that making me unable to go home," replied Ruby cynically. She doesn't like Poppy's mom.

"Don't I explain everything?" Poppy said to Felix.

"I was late to tell my girlfriend, I don't think Ruby would have acted this far because she liked this place enough" Felix replied.

"It's true that I like the place, but not the people" Ruby spoke in the middle of Felix and Poppy's conversation.

Felix understood Ruby's attitude because what makes her like this is also herself. Same with Poppy.

"Where are you parking the car?" Ruby switched the conversation.

"Just in front of the tree. It's very quiet here" Thomas said.

"Oh, that means the way in here smoothly just blocked the tree. I can walk around looking for help to get my car out of here" Ruby said.

"And the land in the area is mine so you can't do as you please" Poppy's mother looked unhappy with their presence.

Thomas hinted that the four men would cancel their original plans and stay in the car for a while, while staying at the motel.

Seeing that, Felix was a little dislikeful and somewhat anxious because of the worry that Ruby was getting back close to him. Ruby approaches Thomas and whispers something that only the two of them know.

"Darling, what breakfast would you like?" Felix broke the silence.

"I'll cook it myself" replied Ruby.

"Oh, are you Ruby's new boyfriend? Meet me, my ex-lover," Thomas shook hands with Felix.

"Hello, I'm Felix" Felix replied to Thomas who shook his hand first.

"You're lucky to have it hahaha," Thomas laughed as he looked at Ruby.

Inwardly, Felix was upset but he had to be able to hold back his emotions.

"Of course, she's my dream woman. Well, smart, independent, steady, honest, beautiful with my dream body type. Of course I'll never leave him" Felix said. What Felix said was honest, but behind that honesty he also insinuated Thomas who left Ruby and Poppy who liked him. He wants people to know whatever happens, Felix and Ruby will be together.

Hearing Felix's reply, Thomas soon realizes that Felix is taking him to a cold war. In front of everyone they were fine, but behind no one knew.

"If the soul mate could come back. No one knows God's destiny" Thomas replied casually.

Felix was increasingly upset with Thomas's behavior, Ruby saw it immediately invited Felix in.

"What is this about you?" Ruby held back a laugh.

"I don't like it. Why isn't he coming back?" ask Felix.

"His friends are still in the car, maybe he'll come back later" Ruby replied.

Somehow Ruby's anger at Felix slightly lessened after seeing Felix's panic knowing Ruby's ex-lover was in the same place as them.

"I'm not leaving you" Ruby rubbed Felix's back.

"Really?" Felix reassured.

"Of course, if you don't do anything like yesterday anymore" replied Ruby.

They went to the room. Cooking instant noodles together then breakfast.

"If the tree is not allowed to be moved, how do we go home? It could have been on foot to the front, but my car? Do I have to walk such a long distance to seek help" Ruby was surprised when if Poppy's mother agreed they would both benefit because Ruby paid the handyman.

"Later in the afternoon we go to his house. I'll talk," Felix said.

Now he also felt not at home in the motel because Thomas' presence was enough to worry him.
