The next day, after Galang left his room, Elin was intending to visit Sinta before he came home today. Actually, Galang said that he would wait until Elin was declared to be able to really go home. Elin was not good.
Galang even bought him a new phone, brought him dinner and clothes for him to change. It was a shirt belonging to Desi, the younger brother of Galang. Last night, Galang was in the hospital even though the man was not waiting directly in Elin's room. Occasionally go out to smoke or rest in a mushola. However, that was enough to make Elin feel bad for her boss.
"Bak Sinta woke up yet?" elin muttered as he exited the elevator. He was a little afraid if he met Ariel and then again scolded. He also did not know how Sinta would react if she met him later.
With his head bowed, Elin stepped slowly. He walked unconsciously until his head hit something hard. He took a step back and looked up. His heart immediately beat uncomfortably when he saw Ariel in front of him.
"Aren't you coming home today?" ask Ariel.
"Yes. But still waiting to be examined by the doctor again" replied Elin. He rubbed his nape with his right hand out of nervousness so that Ariel could notice the bandages wrapped there.
"You're all right, aren't you? Mama asked last night," said Ariel.
Elin nodded. "Ehm. Just a scuff of a little. Is Sinta awake?"
"Udah. I was just going out to get some food. Have you had breakfast?" Elin nodded again. "Yes, I picked Sinta. Um, but I'd like to say something to you first."
"What's wrong?" Hearing Ariel talk to him quite a lot even in a subtle tone made Elin wish half to die so that the brother had thrown away his anger.
"I want you to keep Sinta's condition a secret from Mama and Papa. Or Gladis or anyone. Anyway only the three of us can know," Ariel said in a stern tone.
"Yes, I understand." Elin understands enough because she knows Sinta's position so far as a daughter-in-law who is not so desirable in her family. Though, Sinta is a good woman, thought Elin. However, in fact they so uphold the origin of a person. He who was only an adopted child did not escape from it, he often felt compared to Gladis when they were still living on one roof. So actually, when they chose to live abroad, he felt quite relieved.
"Yes already. You don't talk weird too Sinta. I don't want Sinta getting worse with her condition. Remember, you made Sinta like that!" hardik Ariel before finally leaving Elin in the hospital corridor.
Elin was stunned to hear Ariel's sharp words. Apparently, Ariel was still angry at him. And that doesn't make Elin comfortable at all. He looked at Ariel's back away. Ariel will definitely hate him from now on.
Not wanting to drown in sadness, Elin immediately opened the door of Sinta's room. He stepped carefully so as not to make Sinta shocked. He was pounding strongly for fear that his reunion with Sinta would not be good. However, when he entered Sinta just smiled faintly at him.
"Mbak Sinta is good?" asked Elin timidly. He saw Sinta who was still wearing an infusion hose. It was already better because yesterday Sinta also had to get a blood transfusion.
"Udah. You injured?" sinta asked with both eyes scanning the body of her sister-in-law.
"I'm not papa." Elin approached Sinta's bed and sat on her side carefully. "Mr, I'm sorry. Because of me .. I've made Sinta Ma'am like this. I'm sorry."
"It's not your fault, El," said Sinta. He felt his hand being squeezed by Elin. "It was an accident, I know."
"But that's because I ngajak Sinta Mbak stop by nyari new laptop. Try if we go straight home to eat. Mbak will not .. I'm sorry," said Elin with tears.
Sinta shed tears too. He spoke to his mother on the phone last night. She was so hurt when her mother said she was very young, only 28 years old and she could definitely get pregnant again soon. Her mother even prayed for her to give birth to more than two babies. And it was so painful when she had to lie to her mother that it was all possible, maybe in a few months she could get pregnant.
"Uddah, El. That was destiny. I'm sincere," said Sinta. He rubbed his wet face with tears. "I'm so sad, I'm broken. But I don't want to blame anyone. I ... just hope Mas Ariel can still accept my current condition."
"Sister Ariel loves you very much, Ma'am. Take it easy" said Elin reassuringly. Saying it was actually quite painful for Elin, she had long since been hurt by Ariel and Sinta's partner.
"Eh." Sinta shrugged her shoulders. Ariel is very young, Ariel can always remarry and have children. If her in-laws knew she was already a handicapped woman, that would have been the case. "You're home today?"
"Yes, Mother. I'm better."
"Ehm, don't be, ma'am. I went home with my friends. From yesterday he kept me here," said Elin who was not happy if he had to trouble Ariel again. Moreover, he was sure, Ariel would only look sour in front of him.
"Whose friend? Mirna?" guess Sinta. He knew some of Elin's coworkers.
"No. But Mas Galang."
"Oh, who's the director?" sinta asked while holding her smile widened. Elin nodded slowly. "Well, he must have a crush on you."
"No, Ma'am. He is good to everyone. Because I was the same age as her, she could not see I was sick. Moreover, no one took care of last night," said Elin. He did not want Sinta also misunderstood the relationship with Galang.
Sinta laughed a little. "Don't do that. If you like it, good dong. You are one passion. It's perfect to be a couple. Who knows if we'll get married young."
"Ah, no, Ma'am. Don't bother," said Elin with a bitter laugh. "I don't want to marry young. I'm just working, I want to be successful first."
Sinta nodded. "I doain the best for you. You are still young. Just starting a career."
"Eat, Ma'am. I don't want to rush. I still like work" Elin said.
They also chatted this and that until they did not realize time passed quite quickly. Elin returned to her room when Ariel arrived. Getting a piercing gaze from Ariel, making Elin not want to interfere with the couple's togetherness. He tidied up his things and looked at his new phone. He has not yet set up the new phone.
While waiting for the final examination, Elin also busied herself by arranging her phone. He had just downloaded a few apps when he was surprised by Galang's arrival again.
"Can you go home yet?" ask Galang.
Elin took a deep breath. "No, Mas. Still waiting for the doctor. Check it again, he said."
"Yes, I'm tense. I'll be anther you go home."
Elin simply raised her eyebrows while nodding. Accompanied by Galang, Elin also did an examination. After it was confirmed he was stable enough for outpatient care, he went home with ushered by Galang.
"You are alone at home" said Galang when they arrived at Ariel's house.
"Yes, no papa. Um, I'm clearance until next week huh, Mas. But the script that needed to be revised yesterday must be completed before the weekend" Elin said.
"You don't have to think about work first. Focus on healing." Galang patted Elin's arm slowly. "If there's anything you directly chat me yes."
"Yes. Thanks though. Would you like to stop by for tea first?"
"No need, I went straight back to the office," said Galang as he put his hand toward the car.
After Galang died, Elin went into the house. Ariel always leaves the keys to the house under a small pot that is on the terrace. He spread his eyes across the house. Since Ariel was so angry with him, it might be a good idea that he didn't stay here anymore, he thought.
Both legs of Elin walked lazily towards the second floor, she stopped in front of the door of the nursery. With hesitation, Elin opened it. The room was the same as the last time he saw it. His two eyes condensed as he approached the empty little crib. She often heard Sinta tell her wishful thoughts if the baby was born. And now, this nursery will no longer be useful.
"I'm sorry," he murmured. "Sorry."
