Chapter 89: Critical

The doctor came out of the operating room. His face was lethargic and full of sweat as the doctor opened his mask. All those who were there were waiting for the good news from the doctor.

"Doctor how is my wife?" darel asked impatiently at the explanation from the doctor.

The doctor sighed then said, "we've tried our best. Sorry we couldn't save your wife" said the doctor. Dariel felt his world was dark. The silence and emptiness instantly hit him. Not just Dariel, all the families who were there were crying. Adeline lost her balance. The nurse who had just come out of the operating room told the other nurse to bring Adeline along immediately.

"Casey." said Dariel, then entered the operating room. Looking at the pale face of Casey lying there.

"Don't leave me dear." said Dariel rocking Casey's body.

"You're kidding, right? let's get up. You scared me. Don't joke baby." Dariel said hysterically and cried loudly.

"Casey. let's get up," cried Dariel loudly. Doctors and nurses also brought Casey's body to be removed from the operating room.

"Where are you taking my wife?" darel snarled following the doctor and nurse from behind.

"Don't take my wife" Dariel said, immediately arrested by Luvena and Halton.

"Son, let the doctor take care of Casey's body first" Luvena said, hugging her son's body.

"Casey.. won't leave us right mom," murmured Dariel softly. Luvena just silently cried speechless.

"Let's answer mom, Casey is fine, mom" said Dariel.

Dariel removed his body from Luvena's arms and ran after the doctor who was carrying Casey's body.

"Casey... Casey. don't leave me" said Dariel loudly.

"Casey.." cried Dariel strongly and opened his eyes. The sweat on his forehead dripped down his cheeks.

"Son.you are conscious." said Luvena looking at her son.

"Mom.. Where am I?" ask Dariel.

Dariel Kontan remembered something. Her nightmare. But it feels like reality. Dariel grew even more fearful if the dream came true.

"Mom.. Casey." said Dariel down from the top of the gurney in a hurry.

"Casey's not finished in surgery," Luvena retorted following her son from behind.

Dariel returned to Casey's operating room. He saw Matilda there crying in Adeline's arms. How could the woman cry. Doesn't he hate Casey? then why now he seems to care when Casey is dying. Dariel hates that. Dariel hates Matilda's attitude towards Casey.

Dariel sat in the waiting chair beside his father.

"You're sober, son" said Halton, rubbing his son's back. Only this time Halton saw her cold son crying loudly. Halton realizes that her son really loves Casey. Dariel just nodded.

Nearly two hours of operation for Casey. The doctor finally came out of the operating room. Kontan Dariel.

"What about my wife Doc?"

"How's my daughter doing doc?" darel and Matilda both approached the doctor. Dariel was very scared now, remembering his previous dream.

"Operation went well. But the patient is currently critical and declared in a coma. Pray that the patient can pass the critical period" said the doctor.

"A. what.." concluded Matilda shut her mouth. He shook his head as if he did not accept it.

"How long will my wife go through her critical period?" ask Dariel.

"It is not certain when the patient will go through his critical period. The likelihood of patients going through a critical period is only 15 percent," said the doctor made them all fixated on the spot.

Another doctor who helped with Casey's surgery suddenly came out of the operating room.

"The doctor's condition of the patient suddenly decreased," said the doctor. The two doctors went back in.

"Mom... How is this? Casey's gonna be okay, right?" darel cried hugging Luvena.

"Casey can survive, son. He's a strong boy," Luvena replied, wiping her son's arm.
