Reincarnation as Vampires In Another World
Chapter 23: Behind the Smile

On a clear day, Ferisu parted ways with Lucy and Alfred. Currently, he was accompanying a young girl shopping.

"... Why am I doing this?" muttered Ferisu with a confused tone. "More...why do people look at me like I'm saying 'so young' am I doing something wrong here?"

Sighing his breath slowly, Ferisu continued to walk following the girl from behind while carrying her groceries. When he crossed paths with a female knight, a faint voice whispered. "Be careful, that girl is a black dahlia flower."

Ferisu stopped walking and looked towards the knight who whispered to him. "He was, that knight back then, right?" murmured Ferisu recalled the face of the knight who once stopped the slave traders who were chasing after Lucy.

"Black dahlia flower, well, I don't know, I don't understand the language of flowers" Ferisu muttered as he continued.

The girl always smiled sweetly throughout the trip, until the afternoon arrived. Because the groceries were so much, Ferisu put them into dimensional storage. A horse-drawn carriage came to pick up the girl.

"Oni-san, let's go up," gently invite the girl.

"Yes..."

Ferisu rode the horse carriage with quite a doubtful feeling. But, at the same time he was also curious, why everyone was looking at him so fondly. The black dahlia flower also made him curious.

The black dahlia is a dark burgundy flower that may look beautiful to some, but has a very negative meaning. The black dahlia symbolizes evil and dishonesty. This flower also often symbolizes betrayal, doom, and other negative emotions.

"For now, let's follow the groove," Ferisu's inner voice with a knotty smile.

The sound of the horse's footprints started to sound, the carriage started to move slowly. Inside the carriage were only Ferisu and the girl he was shopping with.

"What is oni-san?" ask the girl in surprise.

"Ah, no.. I'm just wondering why are you taking me shopping? We don't know each other, do we?" replied Ferisu innocently.

"Oni-san isn't a person of this town, is she?"

"Yes, I just arrived yesterday."

"Oni-san must be from a village and was about to find a job in the capital, am I wrong?" said the girl.

I see, so here's the plot. He thought I was a country boy who came to the capital looking for a job. So he came to me to offer his family a job, but something went wrong...

"Yes, as you said," replied Ferisu with a wry smile.

Without Ferisu realizing he had arrived at a mansion that was quite magnificent. There were so many maids who greeted the girl so respectfully. "Welcome back, Miss."

Ferisu walked following the girl, entering the large mansion. One of the servants came to him.

"Master, please follow me. I'll send you to the room" said the waiter politely.

"L-yes..."

Ferisu entered into a room that was quite spacious, the decoration of which looked so expensive, it was clear this was the residence of a noble. Although the decorations and everything in the house are beautiful, there is one thing that makes it strange.

The aroma that Ferisu is so familiar with, is clearly smelled. Right, it was the scent of fresh blood. Ferisu walked out of his room while looking left and right making sure no one was there. Because there was no one there he walked by the scent of the blood.

When Ferisu wants to open the door.

"Ah, oni-san turns out you're here." There was a voice of the girl Ferisu recognized calling out to him with a sweet smiling face.

"Eh, ah, yes.. Can I help you?" saut Ferisu with a surprised tone.

"It's dinner time" the girl said kindly.

The girl pulled Ferisu's hand gently and led him into the dining room. Walking following the girl, Ferisu occasionally turned his head towards the back staring at the black door that was the source of the scent of blood.

A large room with a long table filled with food that looks so luxurious. The servants prepared a chair to be occupied by the girl as well as Ferisu.

Other than the two of them there were two more people eating there, the girl's parents. A servant took a piece of meat and gave it to Ferisu. The meat was as red as the color of blood, was it not cooked yet?

Ferisu simply smiled wryly and watched the red meat. On the other hand, all of the girl's families ate voraciously eating blood-red meat without leaving a single mouthful.

This meat...is it cooked properly?

Ferisu hesitated enough to eat it, then he poured magic energy toward the eyes to analyze what meat was on top of his plate.

Human meat steak, cooked half-cooked with barbeque seasoning.

Human meat?! Ah, so that's it. he invited the new people who arrived in this city with his sweet smile. Then, after that person let his guard down and believed him. He'll be framed and put in the room behind that black door, yeah...

"What's up, oni-san?" asked the girl innocently when she saw Ferisu who was just silently looking at the meat in front of her.

"Ah, actually I don't really like eating meat. I'll just eat vegetables and bread" replied Ferisu with a knotty smile.

The dinner ended and Ferisu returned to his room. Lying on a mattress while looking at the ceiling of the room, he occasionally sighed.

"Huft~ I think is enough to pretend to be his best son" he murmured when he realized that someone was approaching his room.

The sound of knocking on the door was heard three times. "Is oni-san asleep?" said the girl behind the door.

"Ah, no, I haven't slept yet" replied Ferrisu as he walked open the room door. "What's wrong?" ask with a small smile.

"Actually... I'm a little lonely, can oni-san accompany me for a moment?" he said with sparkling eyes.

"Sure," Ferisu replied with a knotty smile.

Ferisu walked following the girl, the direction recognizable, the direction towards the room with a black door. Does he want to do it straight away?

Waves of blood scents began to reappear in the cold night air. The longer it gets sharper, but the scent doesn't come from behind the door of the black room. The underground? The aroma came from the bottom direction that faintly smelled. It's not that behind that door there's no smell of blood.

The smell of blood from behind the door was different, not fresh anymore, different from the one below the ground.
