SOS

SOS
Chapter 7's

ALEXANDRA returns to her apartment at tenpm with Tom hitchhiking in Indah's car and her husband. Police warned him to call 911 only at the time of the emergency. Lovely is not out of thought with a cop who doesn't trust her too much. Beautiful husband can only say what his wife said.

“Tonight you slept in my apartment only,” persuaded Beautiful. “You're in trouble.”

“No. I don't think he's coming tonight.”

“How did you know? Maybe he's waiting in your room.”

“He himself said it. I don't know what he wants from me. I should know it.” That's what Alyx said

and into his bedroom.

He really can't sleep well tonight. How could he sleep when he knew that the criminal could get in and out of his apartment easily. But, what made him a little calmer was that he knew that those people had no intention of killing him. Maybe it's not time yet. Because as he thought, they must have followed him for a long time, and there was no sign of them hurting him. And about yesterday's shot, maybe it was just a bluff. Only, what was inexhaustible was how could the bullet possibly disappear from that place. Alyx tried to calm down. He'll find out everything tomorrow.

*

“You ever heard of a bullet that disappeared after it was fired?” alyx asked one of the weapons collectors he often met.

Robert Stewart, thirty years older than Alyx, smiled at the friend's question

the photograph. It's been two years since he knew Alyx. Although he was quite far from her, he considered Alyx a pretty good conversational friend to talk to. “You didn't sleep last night?”

“Ah?” Alyx was surprised by Rob's question. Rob must have noticed the dark circles around his eyes. “Yes, being there is a little problem,” murmured Alyx later.

“Connected to that bullet you asked?”

Alyx nodded small. His hair was swaying.

“I've been looking for that weapon long enough and just found it a few months ago.”

“You have such a weapon?”

Rob stand. Walk towards a closet. He took the key out of his pants pocket. It seems like he always

carry that key wherever he goes. “I got it from an American. He doesn't know how to use it. And as an ordinary person, he thought there was no need to have this. Or maybe he was tempted by the money I offered him.” Rob sat back in front of his desk. “He handed over this weapon and a box that he did not know how to open. Out of nowhere did he get this, so the code of opening the box just didn't mean it? Maybe he took it without permission.” Rob answered his question and smiled. He then took the box and put three numbers in three columns.

The clicking sounds. The box is open. Rob showed me the contents of the box, some bullets that were just

polpen. He took one grain and filled it into the bullet hole. Rob pointed a weapon at his front wall. Beside the door was a wall that was often used as a shooting target.

There was no gunshot, but Alyx knew Rob had fired. He saw her pull the trigger.

“Now look!”

Alyx approached the wall and searched for bullet marks. Still on the white wall. Alyx

interestingly. When it was in his hands, the bullet turned to dust. Alyx looked at Rob who was smiling.

“Great right? You won't find anything like this.”

“What happened?” alyx asked after sitting back next to Rob.

“After firing, the bullet disappeared. And do you know who made it?”

Alyx did not say anything, but obviously once again he was curious about it. Rob took the box back

bullet filled. Reinsert the three numbers that make the box open. Alyx. “505?”

Looking at the clueless Alyx, Rob took out a small-sized weapon, only slightly larger in size than

his palm. Take a magnifying glass. And pointed three letters beside the body of the gun that became noticeably larger with the help of the lup.

“SOS.”

*

Alexandra was eating her lunch with Mr. and Mrs. Stewart. He was already used to eating there, after debating something about the world of photography, for example, or something else. They have even considered Alyx as their own daughter— because Rob only has a son on duty outside the city.

“You know about SOS?” ask Alyx to Rob.

“Not much,” Rob replied casually, in contrast to the face of Melissa who seemed surprised by Alyx's question. Rob smiled and said to his wife, “we're not talking about that. Only about the weapons I got.” Rob's words made Melissa calmer. “They made it for personal use, it seems like—connected this weapon not found anywhere else.”

Alyx nodded. After lunch, Alyx has not left the house full of guns.

Rob's pleasure with guns has been around since the past—let's say he was a marksman among the army—so when he found a weapon unique to him, he would try to have it.

“I don't know if this was made by SOS, at first, but after checking it out I knew that it was made by SOS,” Rob remembered one of the confusing events in his life, he said, “and I then tried to enter that code, it finally opened.”

“Where did you know about the code?”

“Emergency call.”

“What?” alyx asked as Rob stopped. “Tell me, Rob. I wouldn't ask you about SOS, if

I don't know about them,” he pressed his sentence. “How do you think I know about that weapon? That's because I found a strange person.”

“What do you mean?” Rob moved his body.

“The bullet almost disappeared in my head, fortunately those people did not want to kill me maybe,” Alyx story was a little relaxed.

“What really happened, Alyx? You don't have a problem with them, do you?”

“I don't understand at all, Rob. Those who got me in trouble by coming to my apartment and just disappearing.”

“Then this is really critical.”

“After I thought about it all night, I felt there was nothing to worry about. They came to my apartment

not to destroy, but to talk about something very important. But, only their way is too convoluted.”

“Do not take this lightly. Did you report it to the police?”

Rob looked at Alyx with a glare. “You would never have thought this would happen to us, Alyx. Twenty-five years ago, we got a number from someone who said it would help in the healing of our son. Not Tony,” Rob mentioned his son's name while shaking his head. “But his sister, Alexandra—dia has the same name as you,” Rob smiled and continued, “she was sentenced to have cancer, we took her here and there, but did not produce anything good for her. We thought he could no longer be healed. And at that time, someone gave me three numbers and said, ‘emergency number’, I was confused, but soon I called him. I was quite clumsy at the time, after connecting, someone greeted me. She is a girl, her voice indicates she is young.”

Alyx heard Rob's story carefully.

“Mr. Rob Stewart...” call the woman across the phone and mention Rob's full data, before the one with the name introduces him. Like the girl knew Rob was gonna call. “You know how we work?” he asked Rob and Melissa, his wife also beside him.

“I'm sorry, but we haven't got any news about that.”

“Alright, then someone will be there.” The phone disconnected and at that moment someone pressed the bell. Rob ran up to a small run to open the door. Melissa arrived at the door a few seconds later.

They found a man in a full suit, carrying a suitcase. He came in and sat down

the chair. Put the suitcase on the table. Open it and take out some paper. “You will read it or agree immediately with the proposal about your daughter. If you agree, we'll take him to SOS.”

Ann tries to read the terms, but Rob agrees to agree

what the man said.

“And what you really have to pay attention to is breaking the contract means everything is done. We will

leave this contract for you, you'd better keep it in a safe place, and no one knows. If your contract breaks you have to destroy it immediately, you understand?”

Rob and Melissa nodded at the same time. Lissa went into her daughter's room, preparing all her affairs.

Rob was in storing paper which immediately became very important in the closet that the key is always carried.

“You don't need to come,” the man said as he looked at Rob and Lissa who had prepared everything

fittings. “Quite the boy. If you guys mind, there's nothing we can do.”

“No... no...”

“Good. You just need to entrust it to us and we will make something impossible

being possible.” They leave after putting Rob's daughter in a luxury car.

Rob embraces his wife. Rob was equally surprised by Lissa. It feels so fast. He didn't even know the person who gave him that number. But, he had indeed heard other rich people mention SOS which has been influential in their lives. So that easily and expect excellent results, Rob immediately contacted the emergency number belonging to the SOS.

The following week, as Rob and Lissa had expected, their daughter returned to the top

healthful. It wasn't the man yesterday who drove her but a tall woman who was just as tall as Rob.

Rob and Lissa greeted them with shocked faces. But, Alexandra— their daughter looks very fit indicating she is completely free from her illness, as promised at the beginning. Rob asks what he has done, but the woman simply answers by saying about the insertion of genes and more. They don't understand. But that was enough explanation to make them immediately hug their girl.

Alexandra lived a very healthy life, until the time when her illness returned fifteen years later. Rob takes him to the hospital to check on his health and his heartache when he learns his daughter's illness is threatening his life again.

Rob wondered at heart and immediately recalled the contract they had talked about. Him

issued a contract that had been languishing in the closet for fifteen years. He read some breach of contract and contacted his wife who was in the hospital. Lissa immediately reported about Alexandra who was positive for drugs. And then Rob knew that he had broken the contract.

That day, Rob attempted to dial the emergency number given, but no answer, not even Rob, thought he was

I only dreamed of getting an answer from that number.

*

“Tak enough a year, after that day, Alexandra left us,” Rob said on Alyx.

“I'm sorry.”

“Well, that is, after that day I smashed the papers. Not because of the orders of the man who

told me to destroy it, but because I was so upset with myself. I should have been able to keep my daughter from her friends. Well, you know, they're the ones who forced her to use that stuff.”

“Should have heard you tell that.”

“Who?”

“SOS.”

Rob smile.

“Why?”

“Alyx, I think there are many people—maybe thousands trying to serve them, however important

yourself—or how rich you are, he will sort out which one he will help.”

“Why is that?” alyx's hands support his chin.

“Because that's how they work.”

Now Alyx knows how SOS works, from the example of the events Rob tells. At what he heard, maybe everyone could understand easily, including himself. “Do you think they're from SOS? I mean the guy who came to me.”

Rob shrugged his shoulders. He doesn't know that, but to be more secure, Rob attempts to convince Alyx to

stay in his house. Alyx refused.

The man will come again, Alyx thought. There are a lot of things he wants to ask. Alyx was pamit. Question

the first thing he will ask, are they from SOS? It was obvious, he even said he had sent the documents. What does this have to do with Benjamin? And most importantly, why am I the one he needs to meet?

Those questions popped into Alyx's head. More and more as he was on his way home. On the train, it increased. When he arrived in front of his apartment. And as they entered the room, all the questions disappeared.

“Michi.”
