I kept watching the figure of Deus who should have been so cheerful and filled with that joke. Now, she really looked like a Demon Queen who was so cruel and powerful.
The dozens of Fell Beasts stored in this Colosseum dungeon had turned into a pile of flesh that had almost lost its life.
They are returned to prison and soon healed by vampires who have healing magic.
All of that was done for the sake of continuously utilizing the various types of monsters for the entertainment of the vampires within this Dungeon.
After everything was done, Deus seemed to leave the arena with a pretty serious face as if there was a problem.
A few moments later, he approached me. Surely, some of Deus' servants and personal bodyguards continued to follow him and bring him a chair.
We both sat facing the arena looking forward to the next match.
I was a little scared to open the conversation.
How not....
Deus who was currently not showing a smile on his face that was so charming. A very unlikely thing to happen given how cheery Deus's nature is that I know.
A few minutes passed with silence enveloping this room. We both enjoyed the next game enough that a vampire had to fight three manticores at once with his bare hands.
But while I was still silent to enjoy this fight and the atmosphere of silence, Deus began to speak.
"Eric.... Are you afraid of me?" Asked Deus in a fairly flat tone. A note I rarely heard from him.
I immediately returned it.
"Honestly yes, I'm a little scared. But not to your strength, but to the change of attitude that has happened to you, Deus."
"Ah, so so." Reply Deus in a flat tone without even turning to look me in the eye.
"Deus. Say, is there something that is holding your mind? If I'm less able to live up to your expectations then...."
Deus immediately cut out my words with his icy gaze.
"Erics. What would you do if one of the ancient demon lords appeared in this world, and he offered you immense power? A power capable of even forcing the ancient heroes of this world's protector to come out...." Deus said still with his flat tone.
"Huh? Sorry I don't understand your question. The appearance of an ancient demon king? Offering power?" I asked again to confirm.
But Deus only fell silent and turned his face back to look at the fight that was in the arena.
Time keeps passing. While Deus still remained silent despite hearing my question so clearly.
In the end, I decided to answer the question immediately.
"If it happens, I'll turn down the offer."
"Reason?" Tanya Deus briefly.
"I have decided that I will hear only your words and Leviathan. Besides, I wouldn't believe a suspicious offer like that great power.
Although there is, what I need to do is very simple. I just need to defeat him and take that power for myself, without having to submit under the orders of the demon lord." Obviously I'm pretty long.
Hearing this, Deus seemed to make a thin smile that he had been hiding for a long time. Along with this, he said.
"Although I'm a little dislikeful of the scaly woman, she's already under your control. And that's a really incredible thing for a human like you, Eric."
I have no idea how I should respond to Deus' words.
"I've sent Lucien to go after Evan. But their hideouts were so neat that they were hard to find. If Evan continued to follow Lilith's words, it was likely that one of the strongest ancient Demon Lords would appear in this world in a perfect state.
No. gabe.... Perhaps he would be much stronger than his current condition in the underworld. His strength would become so overwhelming that it forced all the protectors in this world to come out immediately."
Of course I was very surprised to hear that. Evan's? The lilith? The strongest Demon King in the underworld? What the fuck is all that?
"I'm sorry, Deus. But how did you know that Evan would do such a stupid thing? He himself said he wanted to conquer and rule this world, not destroy it." I asked Deus with astonishment.
As soon as I heard my question, Deus answered.
"Lilith was a direct subordinate of one of the Ancient Demon Lords that used to defeat me. Even at that moment, he was still holding back his strength. The devil is death itself.
Abaddon, one of the Ancient Demon Lords who possesses magic abilities far surpassing mine and is also the figure closest to the title of Demon Emperor."
After hearing his words, I could only gape as if I could not believe it.
"Ja-so all this time Evan?!"
"Yes, she was tricked by Lilith all this time. After all, Lilith was a figure that was so cunning and also powerful. It's likely that woman has offered Evan some strength if he obeys her words." Reply Deus immediately.
"Then how could this Demon King named Abaddon become so much stronger with his current self? Isn't this human world protected by the blessings of gods and goddesses thus weakening the demons?" Many confusion.
"The answer of course.... Lilith wanted to present Evan's power to her Master Abaddon."
'Klaa!'
The silver glass that was my drinking place was thrown far enough away because I hit this table so hard.
"Damn it! I must immediately prevent Evan from...."
"What do you think you're gonna do?" Deus asked immediately standing right in front of me.
"Isn't it all too dangerous to leave?! We have to get to it right away...."
"No. Let it. Moreover, Evan's Necromancer power is far beyond your strength. If He's growing a little faster than this, chances are he's no match for you Eric.
Moreover, I want to avenge Abaddon in this world. I want to see how his facial expression when filled with despair from being defeated by the heroes of this world." Obviously Deus at length.
But I still can't calm down. Evan is, after all, a figure I've considered a friend.
I immediately pressed a few buttons in my system menu window and selected the 'Friend' menu to immediately find Evan's name.
But now I am no longer friends with him. There is a good chance that Evan cut off this friendship unilaterally.
'Damn it! If this is the case, I should have asked for his contact in the real world!' I cried out inwardly after understanding the current condition.
Deus approached me and spoke again.
"That's why I sent Lucien, Eric. Calm yourself and let your subordinates do such trivial things. Now, shouldn't you be preparing yourself right away? You said yourself that soon my fight in a competition will begin."
"Ah, dammit! I completely forgot! Well then, I'll see you later, Deus!"
Along with that last sentence of mine and also that sweet smile from Deus, my consciousness had returned to the real world.
And this, what awaits at this quarter-final stage is just extreme hard work to win.
