Chapter 36 - The Soldier of Defense

Capital of the Rena Kingdom, Reinard.

A towering wall surrounded this great city. The defensive power of a Capital was indeed different when compared to an ordinary city.

The population of this city is estimated to reach more than 1 million. Not to mention counting the refugees and soldiers that exist.

This large number is supported by agriculture that stretches from outside the defensive walls to the hills of the East.

The location of the city close to the ocean also provides residents with a daily supply of fresh fish.

In other words, Reinard is in a strategic position capable of supplying the food needs of the entire population without forgetting the defensive position that can only be attacked through the South or East.

It's just....

"The total army here is only 8 thousand?!" Shouted Elin against the commander of the troops who served in Reinard.

"I'm sorry, Miss. But because the great war waged by the rebellion of the Salvation Guild resulted in many soldiers dying. The rest is just this...." Replied the commander of the army while bowing his head.

"Haaahs.... What can I do if so. Damn Chris, I'll charge as much as you can huh! Let's get out of here Eric!"

The two of us then left the warrior barracks and headed to the side of the wall.

"The walls are very sturdy, it might be difficult for them to break through this defense." Muttered Elin.

He then immediately contacted Chris to explain the situation.

I honestly feel pretty useless here. How not? My and Elin's mana had run out after summoning the goblins and now we were both going around waiting for Mana to fill up again.

Without the summoning skill, I'm just a person who can't do anything. That's what I've been thinking since.

"Eric, I'm asking you to go back to the barracks and prepare the troops." Suddenly Elin said.

"What do you mean by preparing?"

"Yes, train them a little and give the pessimists the spirit to face the enemy's attack. I'm counting on you, Eric." Obviously Elin.

"Then what are you gonna do?"

"I have a little business with Chris regarding the defense of this city. Just wait I'll catch up with you soon." Elin replied as she stepped her foot away from this defensive wall.

I immediately returned to the barracks to meet the entire army.

Armed with the information Elin had shared with me, it seemed that he planned to make them archers.

"Gather all the troops here!" I shouted out loud to the commander of the army..

"Good, Master! Immediately!"

He ran and called all the troops in the barracks.

The number was currently around 5 thousand and all gathered on this vast training ground.

The rest?

They patrolled all over the city to ensure safety and order.

"You'll all be-training...."

Although at first I was able to act cool, it seems that I can't stop the groggy feeling in front of all these people.

'Damn it, it feels so different compared to facing a goblin!' I screamed in my heart.

"Is there a problem, Mr Eric?" Ask the commander of the army.

I immediately waved my hand to ask him to come closer.

"Please train them to fight on the defensive wall and use the arrows, Elin will find weapons for all of you." Whisper to the commander of that army.

"All right, Mr. Eric. Then what are you gonna do?" Ask the commander in a whisper.

"I-I will call for reinforcements haha...." Answer groggy.

"alright. Good luck, Mr. Eric!" The commander replied loudly while running towards his troops.

He quickly trained them to fight on narrow, high walls and use bows and arrows well.

I immediately headed outside the wall and continued summoning the goblin without Elin. To be honest, I'm still very embarrassed to face that many people.

...***...

"Are you sure about that?" Ask a skinny man.

"Yes, there are fools whose job is just to forge iron every day without rest. I don't know if that's the guy you're referring to but I think you can try." An old man sat inside a Tavern, sipping a drink in his right hand.

"Thank you for the information." Reply the man who is none other than Neo. He also threw some gold coins at the old man.

The two of them had visited hundreds or even thousands of places in these few days. All thanks to Alice's teleportation ability. Not only that, Neo's Truth Seeker ability is able to know the truth of everyone's words.

"We'll be heading to the blacksmith's place soon, Alice." Neo.

"Yes, let's get this over with and get back to Rena."

A moment later, they reached the blacksmith shop that the old man had mentioned just now.

This time they went on foot for not knowing the exact coordinates of the blacksmith shop.

The distance was also not too far away, just a few tens of minutes from the Tavern before.

"Isn't this place too quiet? The building looks very old." Said Neo after seeing the condition of this blacksmith shop building.

This store has a fairly small size, with a slightly dark building color. Above the entrance is the inscription 'Smithy' which means blacksmith shop.

Everything is very simple.

Neo and Alice began to doubt the old man's words.

Although what the old man said was an honesty, it did not mean that what Neo was looking for was actually here.

After taking a look around for a moment, the two people nodded their heads simultaneously and entered the blacksmith shop.

"Excuse me...." Neo said as he opened the door slowly.

The atmosphere inside was quite quiet, maybe only the sound of hammer blows from a few people.

But what surprised Alice and Neo was the presence of 3 men with quite large bodies in front of them. The three men crossed both arms while confronting Neo and Alice.

"I'm asking you both to get out of here. Our boss is at work and he doesn't want to be disturbed at all." Said one of the men firmly but in a rather slow voice.

It seems true that he did not want to disturb his boss while he was at work.

"When can we meet your boss?" Ask Neo briefly.

"The boss will probably finish his work in 2 or 3 days, come back after that." Answer the man.

"What is he doing? Isn't 2 or 3 days too long for a blacksmith to finish his work?" Ask Neo astonishment.

Yes, in this Re:Life game world, most skills are helped by the system.

A simple example is the use of magic spells. Players only need to think about the magic that will be used and the system will activate it automatically. Even the animation skill time was not so long.

The same goes for the blacksmith skill. The player only needs to choose a recipe from the items he will make and then prepare all the ingredients needed. If everything is ready, the player simply presses a button in the menu window in front of him and the work will run automatically.

Yes, the player body will be moved by the system and the player only needs to see it. Although the player can also do manual forging, but because of the high level of difficulty makes everyone use automatic fitus.

This world is a game world. If one is forced to look without doing anything one will surely become bored. Therefore, the manufacture of items such as blacksmiths only takes a few hours, even at most only 8 hours.

But these? 3 days? What works require the creation of an item for 3 days?

If calculated with real-world time, 3 days is equal to 7 real-world hours. Really not a short time.

But Neo is thinking positively. Maybe their boss is making dozens of Armor or armor. No wonder it takes so long.

"The boss is making a knife. Now get out of here."

They were both expelled from the place. Not to forget the blacksmiths also locked the shop doors to prevent others from entering.

"Hahaha, what a very obvious lie, Neo. Where it might be possible to make a knife took 3 days. 1 hour was supposed to be finished, especially for a legendary blacksmith. I don't think he's here." Alice said with a laugh recalling the lies of those blacksmiths.

But Alice was immediately surprised to see Neo's face. Yes, Neo is able to know the truth of one's words.

"Neo, what's wrong? Why are you putting on a face like that?" Alice asked as she patted Neo on the shoulder.

"They don't lie at all...." Neo replied with a slightly frightened face.
