The spirit of the big-bodied man tried to rebel but all his efforts were in vain.

The first step that the Ancient Demon group would take was to take over the big cities of this World, of course it was just a city that they managed to infiltrate as best they could for 4 years.
Their plan was arguably quite clever because the Ancient Demon group made a plan to attack all the cities that were successfully infiltrated at the same time, it was done to slow down the Guard Emperor in making a decision.
