Even though the old man looked like he was in his twilight, the sword in his hand still shone with its former glory. However, there was still a limit to what he could do now and one could see his hands begin to tremble as he raised his sword once more to kill the Demonic Wolf. The expression in his eyes was not panic but lamentation.
‘Is this the end of the road for me? Well, I guess it's better to die fighting. It's just.. I'll never be able to go home now,’ thought the old man. He looked up at the sky and found his vision blurred by the tears in his eyes.
“Kakek Tongtong, Grandpa Tongtong—” in unison young sound waves, each filled with panic behind him. There were also slightly older children who took up arms. They looked at his figure from behind and their eyes also started to turn red.
“Kakek Tongtong!” Others joined the choir, adding their concerns to the voices. Their tears fell like waterfalls. Tongtong's grandfather was the oldest person in the village and also the most prestigious. Everyone there had benefited from his guidance at least one point in their lives.
He had been living here ever since someone brought back his unconscious body all those years ago. No one knew about his past but soon, they gradually discovered that this old man was not an ordinary old man at all. He started teaching the youth in the cultivation of the village, and thus, it could be said that everyone in the village was his follower.
As time went on, the villagers from the older generation started to die one after another. That, except Grandpa Tongtong. Even though he seemed to have reached the end of his life, he continued on strongly. Everyone began to guess that he might have extraordinary powers, unless he could not use them due to the heavy injuries he had sustained.
There was some basis to their theory because whenever Grandpa Tongtong was drunk, he would start swinging his sword in a dance under the moonlight and shout to the sky about how glorious his past used to be. Apparently, he was standing at the peak of the universe with his strength, and a single swing of his sword could take out a Saint. He also mentioned that he had countless followers.
So, is this really the end of the road for him?
“Kill! Kill!”
“Even in our death, we must make them pay!”
The villagers went berserk with thick killing intent even though they knew their battle power was weak and they would retreat into a corner. However, dying in battle was clearly better than waiting for death without doing anything.
Ah wooo!
The sound of the wolf's cry was accompanied by an influx of red-furred wolves that looked like they were burning fire. Demon Wolf, who was at the Basic Stage, stared coldly at Grandfather Tongtong as his aura revolved around him. The Wolf Demon seemed to want to send Grandpa Tongtong in his path. It opened its jaws slightly and a gigantic fireball shot towards Grandpa Tongtong.
‘Magic power? It's also a good way to die.’ A smile emerged from Grandpa Tongtong's face as he once again looked up at the sky in the distance with his teary eyes. ‘Wait a minute .. Who are the two people there? They seem a bit familiar. Am I hallucinating?’ He was about to close his eyes when he saw one of the figures raise his hand and point one finger towards the village.
Instantly, it was as if time had stopped. An irresistible strange aura enveloped the entire area. That feeling was something akin to a God descending from Heaven. Fictional stuff but that's what happened this time. Waves of ferocious beasts turned into wasted dust and disappeared from the face of the world like snow melted by the summer sun.
The battle was no more. Moments before the villagers returned and when they did, they fell to the ground to worship. “It's a miracle! A miracle has happened! Thank you God! Thank you for saving our lives!”
Grandfather Tongtong, however, stood in his place motionlessly as if a crippling spell had been used on him. He looked at the two figures in the sky and his mind went blank. He did not know whether to laugh or cry and so, he did both with trembling lips. His sword fell to the ground with a loud clang. He was actually confused as to what to do.
The two people who came, of course, were none other than Goddess Nuwa and the Empress. They also looked at him with complicated gazes in their eyes, as they would not believe that he was the man they used to know if not for the familiar aura he exuded. Yeah, that's how her looks have changed. Fortunately they arrived on time.
“Do you have something to say to us?” asked Goddess Nuwa with a smile.
Grandpa Tongtong shook and he immediately lowered his head. “I apologize for not immediately kneeling down and deserve to be punished for offending Your Majesty.”
He did not dare to reveal that he had recognized them, as he was afraid that this might just be a coincidence or a trap set by someone. He would rather die than offend the existence of the seventh dimension.
“Tong Tian, this is really me, Nuwa. You don't have to be so careful around me. We came to take you home. Make your farewell rounds and come with us, ” said Dewi Nuwa. Then, he went with the Empress to wait for her in the forest not far away.
The villagers were still kneeling on the ground to worship and summon them. Tong Tian looked at them and smiled proudly. “Hahaha, they finally came to pick me up! Now, do you all believe me when I say I can communicate with the Gods?”
“You are so great, Grandpa Tongtong!”
“Please, accept my venerable worship!”
The villagers bowed several times out of fear and respect.
Tong Tian looked at them and sighed deeply. “I have to go now. Maybe we'll meet again.”
“We respectfully bid you farewell, Immortal!” said the villagers.
“See you, Grandpa Tongtong!” shouted the children with reluctance in their voices.
Tong Tian entered the forest and there was a complication in his eyes when he saw Goddess Nuwa and the Empress.
“Are you two really ...?” She was still unsure if they were really Goddess Nuwa and Empress.
“Is it hard to believe that we have passed the dimension to come here?” asked Goddess Nuwa with a mischievous smile. Both he and the Empress suddenly felt a rollercoaster of emotions while looking at him.
Back in the days, they were both — Goddess Nuwa and Tong Tian — both were one of the few Prehistoric Saints. Tong Tian, in particular, had created an entirely new religion and was able to kill other Saints with a swing of his sword, thus making him the strongest fighter in the entire Prehistoric era. They never expected to meet him here after he left the Prehistoric era 10,000 years ago.
“Of course, hard to believe. Why are you here? You shouldn't be here! ” said Tong Tian with a frown. His tone was filled with worry and panic. “This dimension is not a playground. You two should come back soon and not expose your identity.”
“Something must have happened to the great Founder Tong Tian until he turned into a coward!” the Goddess Nuwa.
“At that time I was young and stupid. I don't know how big the universe is. Tong Tian from those years ago was already dead. I am just an old man named Tongtong now.” His tone of voice was one of loneliness and regret.
“No need for that. I doubt anyone could do that because my body became paralyzed, my Dao vessels were damaged, and my Primordial Spirit was damaged. ” Tong Tian shook his head bitterly as he said that. He came to accept his fate in this life.
Then, he regained his senses from his daydream and said, “That's not the main problem right now. It's dangerous here. Hope you didn't make too much noise on your way here. This area belonged to an extremely powerful Demon Emperor whose original form was once a rainbow deer. He had the power to reverse Heaven and Earth. It will be the end of the seventh dimension as we know if he knows you two are here.” The more he said, the more his blood flowed cold.
Demon Emperor? Rainbow Deer? All this sounds very familiar. Goddess Nuwa and Empress exchanged glances and immediately smiled.
“How can you still smile at a time like this?” asked Tong Tian who was dumbfounded.
“If my guess is correct, Tongtong, the rainbow deer you mentioned, might have turned into food by now.”
‘Hah? Eaten? What is he talking about?’ Tong Tian thought he had heard wrongly.
“Founder of Tong Tian, the rainbow deer was already slaughtered before we came to this dimension,” explained the Empress.
“Ha ha! Impossible! You must have mistaken the other demons as Demon Emperors! ” Tong Tian kept shaking his head in disbelief as he said that. “Not that I want to demean you, but remember when we thought we were the meanest Saints of the Prehistoric era? Well, I discovered that there are more beings that are much stronger than the three of us combined! Above the Saint level, there was the Chaos Daluo Golden Immortal, and on top of that, there was the Heavenly Realm, and on top of that, there was the Wisdom Elite! So, how could the Demon Emperor, who was at the level of a Wisdom Elite, be killed by people in the seventh dimension?”
Now that her cultivation had been lost, she could not sense what level Goddess Nuwa and Empress were at. However, he could guess that Goddess Nuwa was most likely still stuck at Saint level or at most, the Chaos Daluo Golden Immortal. That was only if he found a great opportunity. As for the Empress ... Well, she might not even be a Saint! The difference in strength between them and Demon Emperors like Heaven and Earth.
A strange expression suddenly flashed across the faces of Goddess Nuwa and the Empress.
“Tongtong, we know all that but guess my current cultivation level?” ask Goddess Nuwa.
“ Judging from the way you asked, you might be a Chaos Daluo Golden Immortal right now. It must have been a very dangerous journey for you, ” Tong Tian said with a smile.
“How about me?” ask Empress.
“You? A Saint, perhaps?” tong Tian said.
Goddess Nuwa shook her head and smiled. “You guessed wrongly in both cases. I think you should prepare yourself mentally for what I'm going to say to you.”
Tong Tian was stunned. “Don't tell me you're a .. Heavenly Realm cultivator now?”
Goddess Nuwa smiled and nodded. “Yes, that's where my cultivation level is. But I'm lucky.”
Tong Tian gasped sharply and the corners of his lips started twitching. Suddenly, he felt dizzy and almost fell to the ground.
‘Heavenly Nature? Is he really at that level now? I have suffered here all along and he is already at the level of the Heavenly Realm? Our powers are very opposite of each other!’ thought Tong Tian. Then he looked towards the Empress and asked, “And you too..?”.
“I am only at the level of Chaos Daluo Golden Immortal but will soon rise to the level of the Heavenly Realm,” said the Empress.
‘Soon?’ He took a few steps back involuntarily and felt suffocated. His brain would explode when his world was turned upside down. ‘What kind of situation is this? What the hell are they doing? How did they become so strong? How could they possibly advance so much in just ten thousand years?’ He was suddenly ashamed of himself and felt like he did not deserve to live at all.
“By the way, Hongjun, Celestial Emperor, and Yang Jing are all at the level of the Heavenly Realm. Juling Shen will soon be at our level as well. Most of the people from Prehistoric times have made great progress in their cultivation level, ” said Goddess Nuwa.
Tong Tian could not take it anymore. His brain became damaged and he wished he could wake up from this terrible nightmare. ‘How can this be? Even Yang Jing at the level of the Heavenly Realm? And Juling Shen, just a pawn, will soon reach that level? He must've pulled my leg! It wasn't that he was talking about the Basic Stage! He was talking about the Heavenly Realm stage, for crying out loudly! Didn't he know it was very difficult to advance at that level ?! ”
Tong Tian tried to digest all the new information and finally said, “I understand now. You two must be kidding. Ha ha ha ha's. It is impossible for something like this to happen. Ha ha ha ha.” However, when he saw their faces, he knew they were not joking.
He gulped and in a surprised voice, he asked, “Tell me what really happened. How do you do it?”
“Nothing, really. It's just that we're lucky enough to be friends with the experts. Somehow or rather, before we knew it, we reached our level just by following him around. ”
‘Entah how or rather? Before you know it? Does he even speak English?’ Tong Tian suddenly felt a piercing pain in his heart. He has been trying to find opportunities in Chaos for 10,000 years. Each time, he became worse after finding danger. Then, things got even worse for him when he was taken to the fourth dimension by chance. Through it all, he had finally reached the level of the Chaos Daluo Golden Immortal, but the good days did not last long as he was severely injured by the opponent and was barely able to escape with his life.
‘Do you know what I've been through for years?’ He suddenly felt like crying. However, something they said had caught his attention. “Experts what?” he asked with a question mark.
The expressions of Goddess Nuwa and Empress changed respectfully as they said, “Existence that is at the top of the universe, deserves to be worshipped by all beings. The Demon Emperor you feared so much had been conquered by his pet dog and turned into hunting meat for his experts. I can't think of a more honorable death than that for the devil. ”
Then, they began to cheer him up with all the stories about the expert. Listening to all those stories, Tong Tian's jaws dropped even lower until they reached the ground. Treating the Chaos Spiritual Water as everyday drinking water, Spiritual Root as an everyday fruit, a dish filled with the essence of the Wisdom Elite, raising the Prehistoric era to the Area of the Gods…
The most shocking thing to him was that he did not believe that in the eyes of experts, the Wisdom Elite was merely the meat of the game. ‘It was an unreasonable cruelty at its peak! Where is the law in that? Is he not afraid of karma?’
Long enough before he comes back. She looked at Goddess Nuwa and the Empress with complicated eyes. “I understand the point. As you said, you two really don't do anything. This is mostly done by experts! ”
The Empress and Goddess Nuwa nodded, both feeling a little embarrassed. They did do a few things, but compared to what the experts had done for them, the things they did were simply unimportant things.
Tong Tian, who had not retreated even in the face of death, began to cry bitterly because of the injustice of it all. “Heaven't been fair to me! I should have stayed in the Eldritch era and followed the experts!”
