Chapter 26. Meet Hugo

“Hei! How about I apply to be the child's baby sitter?” the face of Venus is radiant. He suddenly got a good idea to meet his son every day. It was a boon for him, if he could take care of Moreno with his own hands.

Frisia was doubtful. “Are you sure you can take care of a child? While you were looking for a job as a carpenter!” ask Frisia sharply.

“Yeah .. for me, any job is okay. If anyone asked me to cut wood today, I'd do it for a few bucks! My life is that heavy. But, I am also a woman who hopes to do a more comfortable and long-term job.” Venus argues.

Frisia did not respond to Venus's request. “I have to ask Hugo first!” said.

“Of course.” Venus agrees. A smile cannot be separated from his face.

They talked until evening, before the time Venus came home. Hugo is going back home. According to Frisia, the man did not like having guests in the house. It made her very lonely and miserable since marriage.

Venus watches over Hugo's residence while enjoying dinner in her room. “We will meet again, Son,” in full hope.

The next days, passed

Venus with simplicity. He got a part-time job replacing waitresses at the cafe he used to go to for breakfast. Sincerely and cheerfully served all the visitors who came.

Until day five, Venus

he was impatient and felt his hope was in vain. Chester has come back and called him home from his vacation. That evening he said goodbye to the man who owned the cafe. I'll be gone tomorrow. So, thank you for helping me,” Venus said.

“You helped me. Hope your next trip is fun.”

Venus replied to the man's hand grimly. It was a waste of his efforts that week. He had to find another way to get in there.

Venus is looking at Hugo's residence. Looking for the shadow of his son he might have seen the last time before heading home. Phone's vibrating. Lazily pick up the phone.

“Ya,” answer.

“Hey, I'm Frisia. Have you slept at this hour?” the woman's voice made the lazy feeling of Venus yawn somewhere.

“Ah, just rest after tired of standing all day in the cafe,” replied Venus.

“How are you?” tanyanya.

“Are you still interested in that baby sitter job?” ask Frisia.

Venus' eyes were wide open. “Of course. Standing up and walking around in a cafe all day is exhausting! If there is a job where I do not need to think about room rental anymore, of course I will be very happy,” he said cheerfully.

“Hey, I haven't told you that you're welcome. You're happy like that.” Frisia laughing.

“Oh, I thought I was accepted to work.” Venus' voice returned uninspired.

“Not like that. My husband is the one making the decision here. I already told her that you proposed to be her son's baby sitter. He said he would test you first before deciding whether you were accepted or not!”

“Tes?’ Venus is silent for a moment. “OK. When do I need to do the test? If it is still the day after tomorrow, then I have to postpone the purchase of travel tickets tonight,” Venus said diplomatically.

“Travel ticket? Are you planning to go again?” ask Frisia.

“If the work in one place is not very satisfying, then I will move and look for another place and work again. I'm thinking long term. After the summer is over, it will be autumn. I have to find a job that can last until spring. I don't want to go hungry and be a bum in winter!”

Frisia was silent at Venus' explanation. He could not imagine a beautiful woman would have to be homeless and starving in winter. He never thought of such little things, for his life was very comfortable under the protection of his father.

“Shadow, I .. I can't promise anything. But I suggest you try to meet Hugo first thing in the morning. May he be willing to accept you. So you can have a shelter until the coming spring.”

“Thank you Baroness. I will try to do my best tomorrow morning,” replied Venus.

“Goodnight,” reply Venus before their phone connection is disconnected.

“Yes!” hiss Venus happy. “Mom's tomorrow comes, Moreno,” is happy.

In the morning, Venus restyled her underwear and took her to Hugo's residence. He will go straight home, if not accepted. Venus told Chester that last night. The man could not have rejected Venus' plan, while the path he made was not fruitful either.

“Let's follow me,” a man leads the way to Hugo's workspace. Venus remembers the day she was brought to Hugo. This man also drove him there.

“Nona Shadow has arrived,” the man told.

Hugo lifted his face from the reading on the table. Her hand hinted for Venus to sit in front of her. So he obeyed and sat down obediently.

There was not the slightest fear in his heart of seeing the man again. Moreno's shadow waited, making him calm and managing to hide the expression of hate deep in his heart.

“What's your name?” ask Hugo.

“Shadow!”

“What kind of name is that?” tanyanya. Obviously he doesn't believe.

“I don't know. Friends call me that,” he replied firmly. There was no doubt in his tone. He's not gonna let Hugo have a little bit of suspicion.

“Where are you from? I've never seen you in this city before!” urge Hugo.

“Do you know everyone in this city? That's grand. But I don't feel from here. I spent my childhood in Wolfgrove, then traveled to Duskview, Goldpass, Witherburry, Roothallow--”

“Enough! Are you a wanderer?” ask Hugo in wonder.

“So you can say that. I'm just homeless and jobless. So go around looking for luck and stop when there is a pretty good job,” replied Venus.

“If not good enough, then I will look for another job. For example now, working partime in a cafe is not enough for me, because I still have to think about the cost of living. So yesterday I have resigned and will be looking for another job again today!” Venus pointed at the small bag she was carrying as well.

“So you're already going?” ask Hugo.

“If you do not approve me, Then I will leave the Springhills hill and maybe find a job in Oakenvalle city.”

“Have you taken care of a child?” ask Hugo.

“Not specifically. But well, a few times being a part-time nanny. Is that enough?”

“You don't have enough experience to take care of my son.

“But at least, by having your own baby sitter, your son will have someone who focuses on taking care of him, rather than being taken care of by maids!” reply Venus spicy.

Hugo looked at her sharply. He was even more annoyed to see the woman in front of him smiling widely without fear.

“I want to see how you work one day. Consider this an experiment, how?” ask Hugo.

“During this trial period is paid, for me it does not matter. I'll think of this as a part-time job,” nods Venus calmly.

“Good. You can try it.” Hugo told the man who kept waiting for it, to take Venus away.

“Why do I feel like I know him? But where?” hugo thinks after Venus.
