Chapter 40. The Lennox Confession

What happened to Moreno at that time, became a valuable lesson for Frisia. He no longer wanted to take Moreno out of the house, so as not to be suspected and get punished again.

The following week, Lennox returned. As he promised at the time, he brought the latest train gift to Moreno. Then they played happily in the room of the three boys.

“Do you guys not get tired of hiding in the room continue?” asked Frisia who was already standing in the door frame. He felt ostracized and bored alone sitting in front of the television or looking at the side porch.

“We are playing!” Lennox. Come here if you're bored and follow the game!” take relax.

Frisia was not interested. So he just sat down on the chair and noticed the three people interacting with the exclaims. Finally Shadow felt sorry for him and sat down to observe Moreno and Lennox who were connecting the new rail.

“I'd love to go to the village and shop,” said Frisia.

“You just take your waiter and guard,” said Shadow cuek.

“How about we go to the market tomorrow morning? No need to take Moreno anymore. Later he was sick for whatever reason, I was wrong again,” Frisisa said pouting.

“That's because you invited him,” Shadow said again. He did not take his eyes off his son in the slightest.

Frisia lazily debated Shadow, so she got up and walked out of the room.

Two weeks passed.

Early in the morning at breakfast, Hugo says that Moreno was invited to attend the meeting at the residence of Damon, his grandfather. Hugo asks Shadow to come along to serve Moreno. Shadow couldn't possibly refuse the task, even though she felt the trauma of going there. So he just nodded.

At six in the afternoon, the four of them went by helicopter to Damon von Amstel's place. The starry event was only a short while, because everyone was present on time.

Shadow was waiting outside the dining room. He only watched the kitchen maids go back and forth carrying bowls of food in there. To kill time, he asks Chester for news.

“Next week I have another assignment. I hope you're okay as long as I'm not around,” Chester said.

“Sure. I will do my duty in earnest,” Shadow replied. “You should also be more careful. Don't get hurt,” Shadow again.

“You can contact Bratt if there is an urgent,” Chester reminded again.

“OK,” reply Shadow.

“Chester, I think Lennox likes me,” Shadow reports.

“Then, it benefits him to dig up information and smooth out your plan to run Moreno!” advice Chester.

“Good. I'll do it like that,” Shadow.

Two hours later, the dinner ended. But as always, Hugo will be called Damon to his office. So they have to wait for him to come back, just get home.

Frisia chatted with Sandrina, while Shadow accompanied the bored and sleepy Moreno. As usual, Lennox would not waste the opportunity to get close to Shadow.

Lennox brought him a small dish of confectionery, as he knew that Shadow was waiting outside the dining room without being fed.

“This is for you. You must be very hungry,” he said attentively.

Originally Shadow wanted to act cold as usual and reject the man. But Chester's advice lingered in his mind. He politely nodded and received a small plate full of food. “Thank you.”

“Do you still want confectionery, Young Master?” bargain Shadow on Moreno. The boy shook his head. He was already comfortable lying on a large sofa with his head on his nanny's thigh.

Shadow took out a piece of cake and put it in his mouth. He's really hungry. So that's really the windfall, or he'll have to wait for midnight when they get home, just checking out the kitchen.

“Do you have a lover?” asked Lennox in a low voice. Shadow shakes.

Lennox felt the way was more open with Shadow's answer. “I like you,” whispered carefully.

Shadow saw Lennox at a glance. It seems that man is sincere. But who can guess the heart of a man. After all, Shadow's goal of entering Hugo's residence was simply to avenge himself by taking his son. He has no intention of finding a lover anytime soon.

“I'm just a nanny, Mr.” Shadow shakes.

Lennox was speechless getting a short answer that he himself also did not know how to handle. He knows his own heart. He likes Shadow very much. She has been in love since she first saw Shadow at Hugo's house. It's just that, having a serious romance in the Von Amstel family, is not as easy as indulging in a moment of lust.

 Damon Snagat's approval is needed if he wants to get serious with Shadow. And that's where the problem is. He is in love with Shadow. And according to him, a girl like Shadow is already very rare and should not be let go. He wanted to make Shadow his only possession.

“But I am seriously in love with you,” said Lennox again.

“I'm nobody, Sir,” Shadow said again. He wanted to know how far Lennox would go to get it. “Family alone does not have,” he added.

“Make me your family. I'm seriously in love with you, Shadow.” Lennox took Shadow's hand and grasped it.

Quickly the hand was pulled and Shadow released. “I'm trying to work well, Sir. I don't want to go hungry and be a vagabond if I lose my job again,” he said in a slightly wailing voice.

“Then you can work at my residence and only need to serve me!” Lennox.

The idea just popped into his head. Isn't that a perfect idea? Bringing Shadow home as a servant, then marrying her secretly.

“I like Moreno. I can't leave it.” Shadow glanced at his son who was already sound asleep on his lap. His hands continued to stroke the side of Moreno's face which was now increasingly rounded funny.

“You can borrow it occasionally and bring it to my house, to have your misses gone,” urged Lennox.

Shadow chuckled and shook his head at the absurd idea.

“Later we can be accused of kidnapping him by Mr. Hugo. I don't dare,” his smile.

And Lennox was more and more helpless to see Shadow's smile. He approached and bowed.

“Let's go home!”

Hugo's deep voice shocked Shadow as well as Lennox. The man could almost get Shadow's cheek. Now the girl turned to Hugo and immediately lifted Moreno in her arms.

He could only feel resigned and a little annoyed at Hugo who had come so quickly. Hugo gave him a sharp, murderous look. But Lennox doesn't care. What could he do? Isn't Shadow just a nanny? Hugo has no right to forbid Shadow from having a lover. Hugo also had no right to forbid Lennox from liking the girl.

Day by day change. Lennox is getting closer to Shadow. Although the girl was always indifferent and shunned, Lennox did not give up. At the very least, Shadow was not being rude at all or something that could offend his pride.

Hugo has lost his mind. No more knowing how to ban Lennox from approaching the nanny.

“Why do you always ban me? Wasn't she a free girl. I'm free too!” lennox asked the day after Hugo found him trying to kiss Shadow.

“It's inappropriate!” said Hugo originally.

“Your first wife is also a commoner, Hugo! We never insulted and demeaned her every time Jean came in for a family meeting! Since when have you been more concerned with female degrees?” ask Lennox in astonishment.

Hugo could not answer anymore. He closed his eyes and got up from sitting. Better not to care, he thought. He left Lennox in his study.

“Wait!” Lennox held off Hugo's move.

“I think you like it too. That's why you're acting unreasonable!” accuse Lennox. Hugo was shocked to hear the accusations. So he just snorted and left from there.

“Do I love him too?” inner Hugo was confused.
