“How is it?”
Xu Feng asked slowly but his heart was already choppy, he was just trying to stay calm.
“Thank God, Miss Ding Xiang was not seriously injured and was only scratched by a knife. He seemed to be just shocked and fainted from the sudden attack.
“Shouldn't wait long before miss siuman.”
Xu Feng's tensed body slowly relaxed, he heaved a sigh of relief hearing it.
“Thank you.” Xu Feng spoke and approached Ding Xiang who was lying down when the healer had already left the room. The healer also left behind herbs that had been mixed by various kinds of herbal plants, he mentioned that this herb can help calm Ding Xiang's mind when it was awakened later.
“Sialan.” Xu Feng cursed low when he raised one of Ding Xiang's hands. There, on his arm, was a scratch. Although the wound had already dried up from being smeared by an ointment he was unfamiliar with, Xu Feng's heart still ached looking at it.
Lucky Ding Xiang was only lightly injured, Xu Feng could not imagine what kind of reaction it would be if what happened instead put Ding Xiang's life at risk. Xu Feng reminded himself many times to be even more careful when wanting to leave the village in the future.
“I won't do the same again.”
Xu Feng promised inwardly before removing the hood on Ding Xiang's head slowly. She then looked at that angel-like face again, her soft baby-like and snow-white skin always giving a tremor in Xu Feng's heart.
Luckily this time Xu Feng had already created some sort of tolerance after a long time, he no longer reacted the same as when he first saw Ding Xiang's face.
“Capacitly healed.” Xu Feng sighed and was about to leave but he suddenly felt a slight movement from behind.
“Ughh.” Ding Xiang let out a low growl and his body trembled, his eyelids moving for a moment before his eyes opened slowly.
“Are you okay?”
Xu Feng hurriedly sat down and asked gently but Ding Xiang did not reply, the girl had just woken up and was still in a daze after lying down all day. It took some time before Ding Xiang came to his senses, his eyes involuntarily moving towards Xu Feng who was now holding his hand.
“Finally you are here.”
Ding Xiang spoke softly and smiled gently, his eyes full of warmth when he saw Xu Feng holding his hand. Seeing all that, Xu Feng's heart skipped a beat. Damn, that smile is too charming!
“What happened? How did you get attacked?” Xu Feng helped Ding Xiang who was trying to sit down, the girl sighed when she heard Xu Feng question.
“Everything happened suddenly.”
Ding Xiang then explained what had happened, saying that as the unrest began to escalate in the village, he decided to take to the streets but a man who looked like a vagrant attacked him from behind, luckily the bodyguard who accompanied him managed to react so he was only hit by a small scratch.
“So so..” Xu Feng nodded but his face was extremely moody, there was a feeling of guilt in his heart. Understanding what Xu Feng was feeling, Ding Xiang hurriedly held his hand and calmed him down.
“No need to feel guilty, look, I'm fine.”
Ding Xiang smiled brightly. Looking at her, Xu Feng sighed and patted the girl's head gently, his eyes softening without him noticing. This girl could really understand her thoughts and feelings well.
“True, you are fine.”
Xu Feng nodded before grabbing the potion from the table and giving it to Ding Xiang while repeating what the healer had said earlier.
“No need! My body is already healthy, I honestly feel very fit after seeing you.” Ding Xiang smiled playfully. Xu Feng on the other hand chuckled over his childish and unaffected fist which caused the girl to frown while swallowing all the herbs in one gulp.
“Oh right, how about your trip? There's not a single woman with you, is there?” Ding Xiang suddenly asked and looked at Xu Feng sharply, which immediately caused Xu Feng's forehead to be filled with cold sweat.
“What kind of foolish thoughts do you have.” Xu Feng let out a dry laugh while trying to maintain his expression but inwardly was already yelling and wanted to curse his misfortune.
Xu Feng knew that no matter how he told her everything that happened, Ding Xiang would definitely think about it in the other direction. This girl is sometimes very unreasonable when it comes to matters like this.
“Ohhh.” Ding Xiang's eyebrows shot up, his interest instantly moved when he saw Xu Feng's difficult condition. He initially only asked randomly but who would have thought the question was right on target.
Realizing that Ding Xiang was about to ask further and further, Xu Feng hurriedly changed the subject and mentioned about the entourage from the Zhao Family. Xu Feng said that he needed to accompany those honored guests.
Ding Xiang did not even have time to respond when Xu Feng hurriedly left while stressing that Zhao Quan was an esteemed Elder of the Zhao Family and it was impolite for him not to accompany him.
“Tskk.” Ding Xiang clicked his tongue when he saw the lightning-fast departure of Xu Feng, his eyes narrowed and thoughtful. Xu Feng on the other hand almost tripped in the middle of the road, his body goosebumps all of a sudden.
“This is weird, why am I so cold?” Xu Feng muttered puzzledly, despite the rain, this kind of weather should not affect him. Not thinking about it too far, Xu Feng shook his head and left quickly.
“Oh, your business seems to be done?” Zhao Quan looked at Xu Feng who had just arrived while taking a sip of warm tea, he felt a little strange because Xu Feng had only left in the not too distant future.
Xu Feng only smiled awkwardly in response, he honestly wanted to thank Zhao Quan. If not for this old man, Xu Feng could not have found another reason that could have helped him get out of that hell earlier.
The two of them then chatted for a while, the conversation between them looked like they were familiar people. Zhao Jin instead just sat quietly like a statue beside Zhao Quan, he occasionally glanced towards Xu Feng in silence. It seemed like what Zhao Quan said earlier had managed to educate the child.
“Chairman Zhao, why did you travel so far?” Xu Feng finished making small talk and blurting out what had been bothering him all along. Xu Feng was a little curious, for a person of Zhao Quan's caliber to come out of the nest and travel personally was definitely not for mediocre things.
“There's something important I need to do.” Zhao Quan put down his tea and looked into the distance, his eyes looking complicated and dignified.
