Horror And Mystery Stories

Horror And Mystery Stories
Hallucinations

Today is my first time working. In a paper mill located on the border of the city. I feel very lucky. Because it was two weeks since my graduation from a university, the factory HRD immediately called me to work there without any interviews as well as tests that I had to go through as a condition to apply for a job.

At first I was astonished too. Though I never once put a proposal in that factory. The name of the factory is also new now. But two days ago a man who claimed to be the HRD of the factory told me, he said I became one of the best-rated student candidates who deserved to fill an empty position at the factory. The HRD got the data on me through the campus student bureau. I think it sounds weird for a reason like that. But I tried to fix it. Yes, although I should be careful too. I think when I get to work I have to see if the factory is a decent place to work. I'm just afraid if it turns out I'm just a victim of fraud.

I arrived at the factory this morning. Understandably, as a new child I had to create a good image in the eyes of superiors as well as my friends. From the outside it looks very magnificent factory. More like a mall building in my opinion. There are two floors visible from the front. Behind him there are large buildings that I can guess for sure it is a place of activity of workers in producing paper. To the left right of the front building are beautiful gardens with colorful flowers. More like flower attractions that we often find in highland areas.

For a moment my admiration changed as my eyes focused on the surroundings of the factory. I was just surprised, on the left right of this factory there are still many teak trees, bamboo trees, also large trees that surround it. This place looks more like a wilderness. Then a few meters near the factory, many buildings of mangkrak are not continued to be built. It feels quite shudder to also look at the situation around here. Sepi, there is no human activity that even though only selling or going back and forth with his vehicle.

I tried to amuse myself. Even though it looks terrible out here, I'm sure inside the factory there must be hundreds or even thousands of people who will enliven the day when they scatter home from work or shift change. And I think this factory is quite pleasant to live in because of its very interesting building model.

I set foot into the lobby. A beautiful receptionist dimpled to greet me. “Good morning? Can I help you?”

“I want to meet with HRD mbak?” I answered with a smile.

“HRD what's his name? Here there are some HRD.” ask the recepcionist it clarifies.

“Aduh, I don't know her name either. Two days ago he called me. I was told to go straight to work today without interview and test.”

“Oh, that must be Mr. Hamdani. Mr. Hamdani does like to recruit employees of well-known schools that have good grades. Momentarily I call Mr. Hamdani. Ma'am please sit down first.”

I sat in the corner of the room looking around. This lobby is more like a hotel lobby. It does not show the picture of a factory inside. The interior is also nice and luxurious. It's comfortable to be in it. But somehow suddenly my hair stood up. I don't know what the cause is. But for a moment I did feel something strange but I tried to pull over. Where maybe this grand room is inhabited by ghosts. The ghosts are horrified to stay here.

“Good morning.” a middle-aged man approached me. “I Mr. Hamdani.” said he introduced himself while extending a hand.

“I Vina, Sir.” Reply.

“Congratulations yes Mbak Vina. You are immediately accepted to be an employee here. You directly I placed in the administration section of the warehouse.”

“But Sir? I don't have to test or interview first?” many reassuring.

“Oh no need. I have entered the criteria of this company. I checked directly into the school. For the completeness of Mbak such as KTP, graduation letter, CV and others later can follow. Three months training period with UMK salary. If you have gone through the training period, Mbak can get incentives. For other regulations on the rights and obligations of employees, I will explain further after one week of working here. For the job description Mbak, later can be explained the same section head. All right, let me take you to the workspace Mbak.” Mr. Hamdani explained at length and then drove me to my study.

Now I'm in a pretty big room. Suddenly a jasmine fragrance burst out from within. I was quite surprised because the smell stung right in my nose. Then I rubbed my nose slowly trying to remove the smell.

A forty year old woman greeted me warmly. Her name is Bu Ranti, my section chief. After Mr. Hamdani and Mr. Ranti had a short conversation, Mr. Hamdani introduced me to Mr. Ranti. Then Ms. Ranti showed me my seat. My work place is very comfortable. With a fairly spacious table equipped with facilities for me to work. Starting from computers, printers, scanner machines, closets, shelves, all ready and very neat.

“Wah, get the first job has been welcomed as sweet as this. Pleasant experience.” my inner.

“Mbak Vina, later Mbak will be accompanied by Mbak Lita first. Later Mbak will be taught jobs related to the Mbak section. Hope it's comfortable huh?” said Bu Ranti with a smile. I nodded while returning a smile.

“Hai, I'm Lita.” a beautiful woman about three years old above me greeted me gently.

“I Vina.” reply.

“OK, we can start working now.” he said later. He pulled the chair next to me and began to teach me patiently.

I smell a strange fragrance. This time it came from the body of Madam Lita. It does not smell like perfume in general. I think it's a blend of roses, mementos, cantaloupe, jasmine and some kind of floral fragrance let alone until I can't explain. The smell stung in my nose and made me uncomfortable. I really want to close my nose but I feel sorry for Ms. Lita. Because I was not able to hold back the smell of Madam Lita, I asked permission to go to the bathroom for a while even though I actually did not feel like urinating.

In front of the bathroom, I took a deep breath. But it wasn't the fresh air I was breathing, it was the strange scent I caught from my nose. This time there was a fishy smell of blood and carrion that so pierced my nose that it made me nauseous. Suddenly I felt very dizzy, then I headed to the pantry not far from the bathroom to grab a drink.

The deg!!! How surprised I was when a hand with blackened fingers patted my shoulder. I dare not look. I freaked. Body shaking.

“Mbak again what?” I heard the voice of a man.

I ventured to look. Then stroked his chest as soon as he saw a young man who was now facing me.

“M-want grab m-drink, Mas.” I said still trembling.

“Mbak pain?” the man asked again.

I'm shaking. “Who is this?” tanyaku later.

“I OB, Mbak.”

“Oh yes, why is that his finger?” I was curious to see the skin of his blackened fingers that had scared me earlier.

“This is kebakar Mbak.”

I'm appalled. “Why not be taken to hospital?”

“No need, Ma'am. Already late. In no case. It doesn't hurt.”

I'm holding down the slices. “Mas, I want to ask, is here often smelled strange smells?” manya curious.

“Iya. Often.” replied the man relaxed.

“Sort of flower smell, fishy and carrion?” my chase.

“That's natural, Ma'am. Also called factory. There are many medicines used in the production of.”

I must have heard the OB's explanation. “How's dawn? The smell of medicine is not rich that's it too? Strange man.” my inner.

I stepped into my study with the rest of the nausea still running through my stomach. I still had an unpleasant smell when I was in the bathroom. As soon as I arrived at my work room, I was greeted by Mbak Lita who seemed confused looking for me.

“Where are you from, Vin?”

“Sorry Ma'am I ran out of the bathroom I took a drink first to pantry.”

“But you've got nothing, right? You look pale.”

I'm shaking. Actually I want to tell the incident in the bathroom earlier to Ms. Lita. But I ignored my intention because I thought that Ms. Lita would answer with the same answer as OB earlier.

“Vin, work has started to pile up. Let's learn again so you can catch up with you.” said Mbak Lita later.

Again the scent of Ma'am Lita's perfume poked my nose. Actually I can't stand it. But I try to cover it up by occasionally closing my nose. Fortunately, a few moments later, Mbak Lita said goodbye to do her own work. I breathe a sigh of relief. Even though I don't understand much of my work and still need Ms. Lita, at least the scent of her perfume doesn't bother my breathing.

“Only in this world there are those who sell such rich perfumes. Lita's perfume is very strange. Which store does it sell?” batinku idle.

I try to understand my work. For a long time I can also master it even though it has not been a day of work. Not felt because fun tinkering with the computer when the break arrived. Ma'am Lita took me to the cafeteria but I refused. You know the reason for that is because I don't want my appetite to be disturbed because of the perfume. When some friends offered me to the cafeteria I refused too. Not because of anything, but today I happened to bring supplies. I also chose lunch in the room.

The weather outside is very hot. But somehow there was a cold wind in my room. I thought it was because my room AC was set to a cold temperature, but after I checked the AC remote, the temperature setting was normal. And tends towards the heat. Coupled with the condition of the room with many glass windows and leads to the sun as well with a roof that is partly zinc should be the condition in a hot room or at least warm. But why it feels cold like when the weather is cloudy with low air temperatures.

I tried to think positively and continued my rest until suddenly.. “Oh, no!!! Lights out. Why is this room getting dark. Is this daytime? Well, I don't know where this employee keeps the flashlight anymore. Duh..”

I was getting scared because the atmosphere was getting gripping. I felt like there was a sudden rush of footsteps that turned into legs running towards me. I knew very well that there was only me in the room. I tried to run as much as I could while fiddling with my phone looking for where the flashlight was so I could light myself up.

I've started to sweat coldly from holding back the fear. I don't know where I ran, I hit something. My heart is still beating fast and irregularly. But I'm grateful because it turns out that what I hit was Miss Ranti.

“Why are you, Vin?” asked Bu Ranti while holding both of my arms.

“S-I t-fear, B-bu?” reply stammered. “T-adi m-die l-lamp l-then dark g-gulita.”

“Oh, light off. Ordinary here lights out. New company submits power to PLN. But unrealized.”

“T-but B-bu, dark Bu.. There are strange noises too.”

“Dark? Dark what? It deserves to be dark, you close your eyes. Let's open your eyes, Vin.”

I closed my eyes when I ran. It was because I was so scared and I was also afraid that suddenly something terrible appeared in front of my eyes. I swerved for a moment. I could not believe that the room that had been completely dark was brightened by the sunlight coming through the window.

I can only gawk. Am I just hallucinating? But it was real happening. And I experienced it. But I abandoned my intention to defend myself against the truth of the incident. I just don't want Ms. Ranti to think I'm just making things up or badly thinking I'm crazy.

“Maybe you're sleepy, Vin?” said Ms. Ranti.

“Maybe, Mom. Maybe I'm tired too. I go to the bathroom first.”

I'm heading to the sink to wash my face. Then I heard the bathroom water tap running when no one turned it on. Then there was a noise from inside. I ventured into the bathroom where the sound came from. Suddenly I shudder. There's no one. I immediately ran towards the lobby to dispel the horror.

I fiddled with the phone trying to play a game to get rid of the fear. This half-day I was screwed up by inappropriate events. I was thinking could this building be haunted? But I brushed it off. Ah, maybe this is due to these two days I watch too many horror movies.

“What are you going home for, Vin?” ask Ms. Lita.

“Bus ride, Mbak.”

“Halte bus far from here. You're up there what?” connect Bu Ranti.

“Jalan foot only. Not so far away. It's still afternoon.”

Bu Ranti and Mbak Lita mangosteen.

“I first ya Bu Ranti, Mbak Lita.” pamitku.

“Iya. Careful. I'm the same Bu Ranti is still waiting for an invitation.” said Mbak Lita who then took a seat in the lobby next to Bu Ranti.

I stepped foot along with the employees as well as the workers who went home or changed shifts. But there's something strange about them. They walk like zombies. And there are some who also carry pieces of cardboard and newspapers to fan their bodies. They look like they're hot. Their faces also looked pale.

“They why? Is there any torture here?” my mind while showing a sliced face.

I was surprised not to play when I got to the boarding house. My window clock shows at one o'clock in the night. Just be right. I was out of the factory at four and then took the city bus with a time not long why it arrived at the boarding at this hour. I kept thinking. My head was long thinking about it. I lay my body on the bed. I feel so tired.

Soon enough, my best friend Lina and Doni walked into my room.

“Wah new can work, very loyal first work until this hour.” said Rina.

“Okay, Rin, no kidding. I'm tired.” reply me lazy.

“Work where the hell are you? Kok ndak news. Tau-tau after work until this hour.” Doni asked instead. “But you are not a victim of fraud right?” keep Doni on again.

“Ya is not. I work in a bona fide place tau?” my protest.

“Bonafit is bonafit. But which company returns its employees at this hour. Where are new employees again.” Doni won't lose.

“I work in PAPER.” paper factory I reply for sure.

Lina and Doni looked at each other. They seem to not believe.

“K-you y-sure?” asked Lina with a trembling mouth.

“Yakin. I worked a day ago. Just believe that I work in a bona fide place.” I said confidently.

“T-but Vin, how can?” chase Doni.

“So the crash two days ago I was called by the factory's HRD. He asked me to work there. I have not proposed to you. The name of the factory is new now. I also met her HRD directly. Without tests without interviews I immediately work.” I explained enthusiastically.

Suddenly, Rina and Doni's hair goosebumps. They look at me sharply.

“Why? Something wrong?” I asked them to see their response.

“T-but are you sure you've worked there?” chase Rina.

“Dong already. It's my first day at work. You know ndak friend, the factory is very good. The interior is luxurious and magnificent. Rich blend mall same hotel. The people are also friendly. Be well. Yes although.”

“Although what, Vin?” Doni curious.

“Although there are some strange events that I experienced all day.”

“For example?” asked Rina not to lose.

“Yes, a kind of smell-scented odor that is not appropriate, carrion, fishy, lights off to pitch dark even though it is daytime, yes that is. But it's okay, it's natural that factory buildings have a waiter. I thought it was a welcome?”

Lina and Doni looked at each other again. Then they took turns looking at me. I'm confused myself. Like there's something wrong with me in their eyes.

“You guys why the hell?” many wonder.

Doni went straight to my desk and turned on my laptop. I am confused by that child. He looks like a frightened man. He hurriedly browsed the internet to search for something.

“Vin, Vin, here to?” ask me to see the results of his browsing.

Me and Rina approached Doni. Doni asked me to read the text on my laptop screen.

“BURNED PAPER MILLS. MOST OF HIS EMPLOYEES DIED ROASTED”

I gawk. My tongue. My heart is beating so fast. My hair suddenly stood up. There was a cold breeze that suddenly pierced my skin. That night turned gripping. Me, Rina and Doni looked at each other.

“T-but a-I was working d there.” said stammered fearfully.

“I wonder why you can work there. You also didn't tell me and Rina that you were accepted to work there.”

I feel like a confused person right now. I feel like I'm between a dream and a real one. “K-genesis i-this is like a dream. S-all just happened. B-even I can't remember you guys back then.” I said filled with fear.

“It's natural that you didn't know the factory burned down fifteen years ago. You're not a native here who's heard that story. But the factory did catch fire and most of its employees died roasting inside because they could not save themselves. Plus, the location is quite far from the city makes the fire engine car late to reach the place. Until now the location of the factory is still very haunted. The proof is that not a single type of business that was established in the place was successfully run. And the result is only mangkrak buildings left behind which then makes the atmosphere more mystical.” Doni explained.

I still can't believe what I went through yesterday. Even last night I couldn't sleep and was nervous thinking about my new workplace that had burned down years ago. That morning I took Rina and Doni to the factory site. Actually, Lina and Doni refused on the grounds that they were afraid that something might happen. But since they were also curious about what I was going through they ended up coming with me.

The mystical atmosphere felt as soon as we entered the road to the factory. Silence was gripping even though it was eight in the morning. Doni and I stopped our vehicle not far from the factory yard. I walked quickly into the factory.

“Where are you going, Vin?” Doni took my hand.

“That's, Miss Ranti, Sister Lita and Mr. Hamdani wave their hands asking me to go there.”

Lina and Doni looked at each other. They shuddered while holding back the fear.

“Good friend factory building? Magnificent and luxurious again.” I said later. “Come go inside. You will surely be amazed.”

“Aware dong, Vin?” said Doni while shaking my body. “What you see is not a magnificent building. It was a mossy building that almost collapsed. You see dong, there are only buildings overgrown with wild plants.”

“Ngaco you, Don? There are a lot of people who pass by. That someone greeted me too. They are friendly, tau?” I said as I occasionally nodded and smiled back at the greetings of the factory workers who were about to start working.

Soon a bearded old man approached me, Rina and Doni. His eyes were sharp and seemed scary.

“What do you need here?” tanyanya full of search.

“M-sorry, Sir. This is my friend hallucinating.” said Rina.

“So like this, Sir. This friend of mine sees that the factory building up ahead is still in operation. Even yesterday he felt he had time to work here and interact with employees here. And just now he said he saw people there waving at him.” Doni explained.

The old man was a mangosteen. “Nak, have you ever passed and stopped in the area here before?” ask the old man to me.

I kept silent for a moment to remember something to answer the old man's question. “Iya, Sir. I remember one week ago I had passed by and stopped at the end of the road there. At that time I was lost after coming home from my friend's house.”

“Then did you ever say something about that factory.”

I went back to being quiet to remember. “Oh yes, I once told you a terrible building. That's it, Mr.” I said later.

“Maybe it started with that word of yours. Know, son, if you pass through this area, never speak any words concerning the factory. If you want to say it, it is better in your heart. Maybe the factory guards didn't want to be offended by humans. There's been a lot of weird stuff here, kid. There are some people who intentionally or unintentionally talk about the factory. Soon they were made confused, crazy, some even died. Good thing you haven't done anything yet, son.”

“Then Sir, what should I do for my friend to make him aware?” ask Doni.

“Look, son, you help your friend is looking for seven-figure flowers and also frankincense. Then put it under the big tree and ask your friend to apologize sincerely and pray for the spirits who died here to calm down. Hopefully your friend is not disturbed by the waiter of this factory again.” so the old man message earlier.

Doni nods. “Good Sir. But, whose father is this?”

“I was a factory employee here too. But I managed to save myself even with severe burns. Thank goodness my life is still being helped. Every Friday night I usually come here with friends who are still safe to give offerings so that the spirits here do not interfere. But I don't know, maybe there are still some who have died. So they still like to annoy most people.”

“Hopefully my friend quickly realized yes, Mr.” Rina hope.

The old man nodded. Me, Rina and Doni glanced deep into the haunted factory building.
