Like most friendships, the five of us always spent time outside school hours together, to cafes, libraries, malls, almost everything, we also had no boyfriend, so our friendship was really strong.
The first time we got to know each other was when we were in 10th grade, and after going up to 11th grade we had a different class, except me and Novi, and 12th grade, Leo and Ferdi were in the same class, I'm still with Novi, Rini's sister, she's probably depressed about spending two years in the top class.
It's not morning anymore, the sun has climbed to its peak.
After the bell home, I remember exactly this was Saturday, as usual me and Novi went to Leo's house for lunch - a commonplace in friendship. Leo lives alone in a rented house, his parents are out of town, so you probably know? Yes Leo's house is our second home, we almost every day go there, eat, sleep, gather, and share stories.
Ferdi and Rini were on their way back then, Leo was a handsome young man, his hair thick straight and smooth, combed with a neat left side emphasizing the intelligent impression behind the glasses with a large frame.
Novi sat down on the dining table chair and asked if Leo had any food for us to eat, Leo replied that there was no food supply, with a friendly smile and we gave Leo the money to buy the rice wrap, in an instant Leo moved as vigorously as ever towards the bike and left us in a quiet afternoon.
I took off the shirt on Monday, although not wearing the shirt in me and Novi will not do anything bad, things like this are common for us. We sat quietly not talking on the dining table chair, only the sound of a fan on the roof of the dining table spinning behind the silence, Novi and I just stared at each other.
So Novi said he wanted to go to Leo's room to get some reading material - if any. While I chose to stay seated, while assuring myself that Ferdi and Rini will arrive soon. I waited almost 5 minutes and Novi wasn't out yet, which must have made me wonder.
When I went into Leo's room, I saw Novi sitting cross-legged and his body down, his face very limp and pale, his hands trembling with a single sheet of photographs, he said, while an obsolete novel bearing the words ‘LILY’ is not far from the reach of Novi - I guess that Novi took the photo he held from the page of the Novel.
Novi didn't talk when I looked confusedly at her face, her eyes were already talking a lot, but I didn't know what was happening to her, her lips were shaking gently her eyes were not blinking at me, she said, I tried to calm him down “calm pi quiet, there's me”. I took the photo sheet from Novi's still shaking hands, after which Novi sat hugging his knees and leaning against the wall, staring around with a lethargic expression of fear, “calm pi”, he said, I reminded Novi once again, then started to pay attention to the photo.
Now I feel what Novi felt, the photo sheet, from the date on the bottom right corner, estimated when we were in 11th grade and on semester break. The photo, I got goosebumps, it was, ahh okay, it was a picture of Leo's family, against the background of a grave in the cloudy daylight, a haphazard face was attached to each of them which seemed to force to smile, squatting on the side of the grave, which on its headstone was inscribed,
Leo Adrian
