...Finally, I'll meet him today.......
.......
.......
.......
A beautiful girl was standing while staring out her office window which showed a view of the very tall skyscrapers.
His right hand holds a glass of iced coffee, while his left hand holds a mobile phone attached to his ear.
“So, how, sir lawyer? Is everything in order?”
He was silent for a moment, listening to what his interlocutor was saying on the phone.
“Then, I can pick him up today, right?”
“Alright, thank you very much sir.” A bright smile was clearly on his face.
How not? He had waited for quite a while, and finally the moment he had been waiting for came as well. The source of his happiness will come today. He sipped the iced coffee left in the glass and threw it into the trash can near his desk. He grabbed his handbag and immediately left the office towards the parking lot.
He took his car to East Jakarta. After driving for approximately 2 hours, his white Lexus car stopped in front of a medium-sized building with a large nameplate that read ‘Address’ in front of him.
He got out of the car and excitedly stepped quickly into the orphanage. After arriving inside, he immediately approached the reception desk.
“Excuse me mbak, I'm here to pick up the child I'm going to adopt.”
“At whose name?” ask a young lady who was working behind the reception desk with a friendly smile.
“At the name Jane Chandra.”
“Good, a minute yes, I will check first.” The woman then stood up and disappeared behind the administration room located behind the reception desk. It didn't take long, the woman went back to the table.
“Mother Jane Chandra.”
“Iya.” Jane looked directly at the woman with a smile on her face.
The woman read a file in her hand and frowned slightly before finally looking at Jane and saying, “Sorry, but the baby was picked up this afternoon.”
It was Jane's turn to tighten her forehead.
“What? Already picked? Who picked him up?”
...***...
Jane parked her car with the origin in the yard of a fairly large house. He rushed out and slightly slammed the car door as it closed. With wide strides, Jane entered her house impatiently. His fluffy smile was gone, replaced with a sullen and flushed face holding back anger.
Jane recalled the answer from the young woman at the orphanage.
“A middle-aged man picked her up. The man claims to be your father, his name is Benny Chandra. He also brought a letter from your lawyer."
Jane's face was getting sullen. He entered and was immediately greeted by a middle-aged woman who immediately bowed politely to him. Jane stopped walking and immediately pointed it out with a question, “Where is Papa?”
"Father is in the living room, Non," replied the middle-aged woman who was none other than the housekeeper in their home. Without saying anything else, Jane walked straight to the living room where her papa was.
Jane arrived in front of a high wooden door behind which was a room they used to call the family room. He pushed the door quickly and immediately stepped in. A middle-aged man was sitting on a black leather sofa. As always, compare his thick business economics book. It was Papa Jane.
“Papa,” greet Jane while trying to sound polite.
“You have come apparently.”
Jane grunted quietly. My dad must have planned all this.
“If you want to get angry, just get angry. No need to pretend to say hello politely so. It's not like you,” he said lightly behind his thick glasses. “Usually you are very critical and grumpy.”
“How can Pa—”
“Papa does not bother anymore about you want to adopt a child. But Papa doesn't want you to be single for life and take care of a child who isn't your biological child.”
“What?”
The thick book was no longer in front of his nose. The book was thrown on the table to his left. Her two pupils were now staring at Jane intently and seriously.
“Papa knows exactly what's in your head. You plan on not getting married, right?”
It's always been this way. Jane hated to admit that her papa always managed to read what was on her mind.
“You think Papa will let it go? No. gabe. Remember Jane, you are Papa.”'s only child Papa said in a firm voice.
Yes, he was an only child, and that was a fact that made Jane even more upset. Because he is the only one.
His two eyes no longer stared at Jane intently. He took off his glasses and wiped his lens casually. “You can take care of that baby. But on one condition."
Oh, naw. Don't say.
“You must get married first.”
Yup. It was a bad day. All of Jane's expectations turned into a very, very annoying reality.
“If I have to get married, why do I adopt a baby?” jane's protest was unacceptable. How could the plan that he had arranged in such a way since long ago be destroyed just like that by his father.
“Papa don't want to know. Before you find a future husband, the baby will stay here, and you should not meet him.”
“Papa!”
“And one more,” Papa directly cut off Jane's greeting. "What's wrong with your hair color?"
Jane immediately turned to her unadorned hair on the shoulder, which she had just dyed last week.
"Quick re-paint that hair."
...***...
It is not easy to find a potential husband given the fact that Jane has had a child.
Why difficult?
Because Jane didn't tell them the child was an adopted child. She spoke and acted as if she were a twenty-five-year-old girl who had never been married but had one child. Not infrequently the men he met were surprised to hear it. But Jane did this for the good of her son. He wants to have a sincere husband accept himself who has had children, so that they will love his child like their own. Because Jane knows not a few men who just act sweet in front of it. And he did not want to fall into the hands of such a man.
Day after day passed, and Jane grew increasingly frustrated as her father began to describe her with various words, such as:
“The deadline is the end of this month, meaning next week. Otherwise, Papa will return the baby to the orphanage.”
Or.....
“What are you doing, anyway?”
I don't know, how Jane might have told her everything she said to each of her future husbands. It could all be getting worse.
“Quick change your clothes and get ready.”
“Again?” Jane looked at her papa with a lazy look.
“This is for the last time. Papa just wants to help you. Don't disappoint Papa again.” Reply Papa firmly.
“Good, I understand.” Jane drowned and passed to get ready. He let out a heavy sigh, no matter what kind of man he had to face this time.
...***...
At four o'clock in the afternoon, Jane was standing in front of a large restaurant in South Jakarta. The restaurant has become a regular place he visits once a week because Papa always arranges meetings with every man of his choice here. Jane got tired of having to come here.
Once again Jane checked her appearance on the glass door in front of her. Currently she is wearing a simple knee-length dress with broken white sweetened with a black bolero. His long hair which he had painted brown in the booth elegantly. Not to forget he completes his appearance with matching colored heels and Dior branded black handbags.
His appearance was enough to show that he was from among the people. Because since yesterday every man arranged by his father was mostly a CEO or heir to the family company. Jane had no choice but to accept it.
Hopefully today it works, even though the thin hope of the man he will meet is willing to accept himself.
Only one motivation keeps Jane from doing all this. Because he wants to quickly meet the baby he adopted.
Jane took a deep breath before finally pushing the door and entering the restaurant.
