Love, Maybe

Love, Maybe
Chapter 33

.......

Mark drove his sedan into the courtyard of a minimalist two-story house in the Bogor area. Although not large, this house seems very peaceful with plants and green grass that adorn the surrounding. Winny is familiar with this house, and it feels like she hasn't set foot here in a long time.

Mark removed his seatbelt and got out of the car immediately. For a moment he stretched his sore muscles after driving from South Jakarta to Bogor. Realizing that Winny did not get out of the car, Mark walked around his sedan and opened the car door from the girl's side.

“Winny, why don't you come out?” mark asked as soon as he saw Winny still sitting on his seat while holding his seatbelt.

“Uhm, Mark–”

“There is no reason to run away,” Mark directly cut off Winny's greeting. He then looked at Winny with a contemptuous look. “I drove for over an hour from Jakarta, and now we have arrived so don't tell me you don't want to enter.”

Mark leaned into the car to remove Winny's seatbelt, then he pulled the girl's hand slowly to get out of the car. After closing the car door, Mark immediately invited Winny to enter the house.

“Mama, I'm home!” mark exclaimed loudly as soon as he entered the living room. And a split second later, there appeared a middle-aged woman who was none other than Mama Mark, who still looked beautiful despite her age that had touched half a century, he seemed to be walking straight from the kitchen.

“Mark, why should you scream like that, anyway?” mama who still wears an apron and carries a vegetable spoon in her hand. But his intention to continue his tirade instantly faded as soon as he saw Mark displaying a sweet smile on his face while pushing Winny's back to the front of his body.

“Mama look, who came with me today,” said Mark still with a big smile.

Mama seemed to widen her eyes with a slightly gaping mouth looking at Winny who was now smiling clumsily at him. In the next instant, that shocked expression instantly changed with a smile splattered on his face.

...***...

After filling their bellies with Felix's crab soup, Kaylee spends time with Jane in Aiden's room, while Felix and Daniel chat over coffee in the living room.

Kaylee placed the paper bag she was carrying on top of the single bed in Aiden's room and took out a large box from it. He handed the box to Jane, who was sitting at the end of the bed.

“This is a gift for Aiden,” Kaylee said as Jane took the box from her hand. Jane put the box in her lap and opened it immediately.

Kaylee approached Jane and saw the box. “That's two, one from me and one from brother Daniel.”

Jane took out the clothes that were in the box and immediately smiled broadly at it. “Wah, funny once.” Jane's Comment.

“Funny right? Let's try to wear it to Aiden,” Kaylee said as she took a second piece of clothing in Jane's hand and coded her sister-in-law to lift Aiden from the baby box.

Jane immediately lifted Aiden's body from the baby box and placed it carefully on the mattress. First Jane tried to wear the clothes given by Daniel, which is a shirt suit combined with shorts and decorated with a bow tie. Kaylee laughed at how mature Aiden looked while wearing the suit, which turned out to be a little oversized.

“Yeah, why is Auntie's niece so looking so mature and handsome like this, anyway?” kanda Kaylee while pinching Aiden's cheek slowly, making Jane laugh slowly to see it. Presumably Jane still felt a little awkward towards Kaylee compared to when Helen invited her to chat the other day.

Luckily, Kaylee also has a friendly and sociable personality, so that over time Jane can get carried away. Though the first impression that Jane got upon seeing Kaylee was cold, arrogant, with her stature like a spoiled conglomerate child. Understandably, Kaylee's face when silent was impressed judes and creepy.

After that, Jane changed Aiden's clothes with a suit given by Kaylee, which immediately made the girl smile wistfully at how cute Aiden was when wearing her jeans jumpsuit suit.

“Wah, indeed Auntie did not choose wrong. My Aiden looks so funny!” kaylee exclaimed with pleasure while carrying Aiden carefully. The smile that was imprinted on the girl's face widened as Aiden joined in laughing gleefully and began to babble.

“Oh? Aiden can already babble?” kaylee asked excitedly and enthusiastically. The expression on Kaylee's face looked so cute that Jane laughed as she nodded.

Suddenly Jane was very pleased with the fact that Kaylee was her sister-in-law. Jane herself has no siblings and she doesn't expect Kaylee's reaction to be this big when she plays with her son. But somehow he really likes the excitement of Felix's sister.

“Next week Aiden will be seven months old. Seven-month-old baby can indeed babble,” explained Jane when her laughter has subsided.

“Yeah, you deserve to be so heavy, Aiden. You're seven months old, hm? Auntie's hand until it's sore holding you. Can not, you must get a punishment for making Auntie's hand sore,” joked Kaylee then began to kiss both cheeks puffed Aiden.

Jane sits herself on the bed and smiles at Kaylee and Aiden. Jane accidentally meets Kaylee and the girl throws a smile at her.

“Oh, yes. I almost forgot. I also brought a gift for sister,” Kaylee said as she put Aiden back on the bed, then she reached into the paper bag that was there. He took out a smaller gift box and gave it to Jane.

“This is my wedding gift. Thank you for wanting to marry my sister the ice man,” Kaylee said as she thrust the box at Jane who received it while chuckling.

“Thank you, Kaylee.” Jane said.

“You’re welcome, pretty sister in law,” Kaylee replied, then she went back to Aiden and played with him.

Jane starts opening the maroon box, and it turns out that the wedding gift Kaylee gave her was a book. But after Jane took a closer look, the beige book turned out to be a photo album. Curious, Jane opened it and then found a family photo.

Jane was able to recognize the faces of Helen, Felix, and Kaylee who wore matching black clothes. Means a middle-aged man and woman who are in the middle of them are none other than his third parents.

Under the family photo is a caption, which Kaylee seems to have added intentionally, saying ‘Welcome to Setiawan’s Family, our new family members’.

A moment Jane smiled, moved by Kaylee's gift, and then Jane turned back to the next page. He found a picture of a boy wearing a jeans suit, sitting on a rock.

“This childhood photo Felix?” ask Jane.

Yeah, who else would be the boy in the Setiawan family if not Felix.

“Iya, that's from the photo album I brought when I moved to New Zealand. And since Felix's brother is now married, I think I'd better give it to my sister,” said Kaylee.

“Funny once,” Jane reflex says.

“Iya, right? Helen's sister always said that Felix's brother was very funny when he was a child. But she turned creepy as soon as she grew up,” Kaylee said.

Spontaneous Jane turned to Kaylee with a serious expression. “Scarying?”

“Iya. Felix's brother was usually very quiet and cold to others. Even she can scare people by just looking at them with her sharp gaze,” replied Kaylee who is now holding Aiden and sitting by Jane's side, taking a look at the photo album.

Jane laughed softly. Jesus, he thought Felix was really a creepy figure in the real sense. But to be honest, Jane was also scared of Felix when they first met in the restaurant.

Jane went back page after page, looking at Felix's face as a child. But the more Jane noticed, somehow the more similar it became.

‘Felix as a child is really very similar to Aiden,’ Inner Jane.
