Love, Maybe

Love, Maybe
Chapter 23

.......

The little party Felix's friends held at the cafe ended at eight p.m. Most of them are not single men anymore so they cannot have a party until late at night. Just being able to get together to celebrate a birthday is enough for them. Work and family affairs have taken up almost three-quarters of their time so they cannot get together too often, but they also cannot get rid of the habit of celebrating birthdays together.

Jane's white sedan reached the basement of the apartment at eight o'clock and twenty minutes. Felix turned off the car engine and removed his seat belt. When she looked at Jane, she saw that she had already closed her eyes with Aiden in her lap. Aiden had indeed fallen asleep since they were still in the cafe earlier, which became one of the reasons for the party being disbanded.

For a moment Felix smiled at Jane who was asleep so calmly. Along the way, Felix did try to drive with focus and not talk much for fear of making Aiden wake up and so they could also get to the apartment faster, so Felix doesn't know since when Jane fell asleep.

A few seconds Felix took to notice Jane's face fixed. His wife is indeed very beautiful, but the makeup that Jane uses this afternoon does not look like usual. There is no nude matte lipstick that used to color Jane's lips, but red lip gloss that makes her face look even sweeter. But even though Jane's makeup looks charming tonight, it can't hide the tired look of this beautiful girl.

How not? In addition to spending half a day at the office, Jane also goes shopping and prepares a surprise party for Felix which is now in vain. Although she could smile and laugh at the party just now, Jane could not hide the fatigue she felt.

Realizing he could not let Jane sleep all night in the car, Felix was forced to pat Jane's arm slowly, so he was forced to, resuscitate the girl if they have arrived and should immediately enter the apartment so that they can rest in the room.

Jane slightly gasped and blinked her eyes. He then turned his gaze to Felix and asked slowly, “We have arrived?”

Felix nodded slowly. Felix removed Jane's seatbelt, then he got out of the steering wheel, turned to the side of the car and opened the door for Jane while asking, “What day are you so busy?”

“No, why are you asking like that?” jane asked as she moved Aiden carefully into Felix's hands. Felix swiftly hugged Aiden, letting his tiny head rest on his broad shoulders. It is the safest and most comfortable position when carrying a sleeping baby.

“You look tired,” Felix replied as he reached out to help Jane get out of the car.

“Oh, that's because I'm men–” Jane didn't continue her sentence. The touch of his eyes that initially felt very heavy because of sleepiness now widened.

‘Gosh. I've prepared a surprise for Felix in the apartment.’ Jane cried in her heart, fortunately she did not slip and said the sentence aloud. But, what time is it? Jane checked her watch. It's been past nine and a half. Jane no longer knows what her cooking looks like.

“What's Jane doing? You why?” asked Felix a little worried because he saw the expression on Jane's face that suddenly looked shocked. Jane turned her gaze to Felix, for a moment she forgot about Felix's presence because she was busy with her thoughts.

“Ti-no. Its alright. Oh yes, Felix, can you please bring the baby bag in the back seat? I'll go upstairs first to prepare Aiden.”'s room Jane said, closing the car door. He had to get to the apartment first and tidy up the balcony so that Felix did not see the surprise of his failure there.

“But we....” Felix's eyes followed Jane who half ran to the entrance. “....can go upstairs together..” Felix's remarks were in vain because Jane has now disappeared behind the door. Felix scratched his head slowly, he immediately picked up the baby bag in the back seat and followed Jane into the building.

Arriving at her apartment, Jane hurried up to the second floor and tidied up the folding table she had installed on the balcony, moved the dishes and glasses to the kitchen, and was forced to throw away her cold dishes. Jane tightly closed the glass balcony door and pulled the curtains.

Jane was walking down the stairs when she saw Felix walking in from the front door. Jane immediately approached Felix and pulled Aiden out of the young man's arms.

“Let me take Aiden to his room. You just sit on the sofa,” said Jane. He also took the baby bag from Felix's hand and slowly went back up to the second floor.

Felix frowned confusedly looking at him. But she complies with Jane's words to sit on the couch, although her mind still wonders Jane's sudden, very strange attitude. Though the girl looked very tired and sleepy, then where did the energy just come from? Jane had run from the basement to the top, and do not forget also how many times he went up and down the stairs.

A few minutes later, Jane came back down the stairs. From the fifth step he could see the back of Felix sitting on the sofa. But instead of approaching the husband, Jane instead tiptoed towards the kitchen and took a glass. Felix only realized his presence when the sound of water poured from the teapot sounded.

“Jane?” call Felix.

The owner of the name almost jumped when he heard the voice of Felix calling him. “I-Yes,” Jane replied slowly. Cancel his intention to just quench his thirst.

“From yesterday I was confused,” Felix said as he walked into the kitchen.

Jane almost screamed. Did Felix realize it? All his plans and his failed surprise party? Jane cursed her acting suspiciously in front of Felix.

Felix stood in front of Jane who was behind him. He draped his arm around Jane's waist and rested his chin on the girl's shoulder. Same thing with what he did when the girl cooked a few days ago. Whether since when, Felix always wanted to do that if he saw Jane in a standing position behind him.

“Where is my gift?” ask Felix slowly.

“Hah?”

In that instant Jane also put the glass in her hand and patted her forehead slowly. ‘Jeez, why can I forget the gift?’

Felix has even gotten some gifts from his friends, and also from Helen who was entrusted to Jane a few days ago. But until this moment he has not received anything from his wife. It's only natural that Felix whines like this. Jane turned her body and smiled awkwardly, while Felix looked at her with a frown.

“Of course I prepared something for you,” Jane replied as she touched Felix's soft shoulder. “Listen to me,” continued Jane while looking straight at Felix's eyes. Felix fell silent and looked at Jane fixedly, waiting for what would come out of the girl's lips.

“Sorry, I couldn't express my feelings all this time. I guess I'm too embarrassed to say I love you. So, now can you close your eyes first?” said Jane.

According to his wife, Felix closed his eyes. He let Jane take over his vision because she was holding Felix's hand and leading him up the stairs. Jane guided Felix carefully as they passed through the door to the balcony, and stopped right in front of a large object covered by a white cloth. Jane let go of their hands and held the tip of the white cloth.

“Are we there?” ask Felix who is confused because Jane no longer holds him.

“Iya. Now you can open your eyes,” Jane replied.

As Felix's eyelids opened, Jane pulled the white cloth in her hand firmly, making an object that was originally covered begin to appear.

“Tadaaa!” exciting Jane.

“It...” Felix did not continue his sentence. He looked at the thing before him with a shocked look.

“This is your birthday present from me. Your favorite musical instrument, a grand piano,” Jane said with a smile.

“How can you know?” asked Felix in disbelief, his eyes still did not move a single inch from the large black piano in front of him.

“I asked my sister Helen what your favorite thing was, and she said since childhood you really like to play the piano. So I think it's better I give you this as a gift,” replied Jane still smiling widely. He then positioned himself in the piano chair.

“You can play it?” Felix asked because he did not expect Jane would also play the piano.

“I've studied before, but I'm not sure it will be as good as your game,” Jane replied and she started pressing keys on the piano. His movements were slow and he only used basic tones. But before long, a familiar tone began to sound in Felix's ears.

Jane's songs are Kygo's Happy Birthday and John Legend's. Felix stood still, a smile on his face as he stared at Jane playing the piano.

Felix walked over to Jane and planted a kiss on the top of her head. Jane looked up with a smile on her lips. Felix smiled back, and next he pulled Jane's hand to get the girl out of the chair. Felix didn't give Jane a chance to talk because she held the girl tight.

“How should I thank you, Jane? I'm too happy, you made my birthday this time the most beautiful birthday of my life,” Felix said slowly.

Jane's smile grew over Felix's shoulder. Her hands hugged her husband tightly. “You don't have to thank me, Felix. You have made my life more beautiful. From now on we will spend every birthday like this with me, forever.”

Jane could feel Felix's lips rubbing against her hair. “Yes, of course. We'll be together like this forever.”

Jane let go of their embrace and smiled sweetly. “Well, now I want to listen to you play this piano. Brother Helen said you were very good.” Jane led Felix to sit on the piano, then sat down next to him.

Felix raised his hand like a professional piano player, pressing the keys with his tenth finger as he began to play the same song that Jane had played, only the melody sounded better, and added with while singing anyway.

Jane was amazed by the ability to play the piano Felix, plus the sound that turned out to be very melodious. Jane could not hide her amazed gaze and wide smile. The girl began to lean her head against Felix's shoulder, lulled with her soft voice.

The song Felix played was finally finished. Jane looked up as Felix lowered his face. The meeting of her lips became the cover of that beautiful birthday night.
