Love, Maybe

Love, Maybe
Chapter 17's

.......

“Papa, sorry we ter–”

“You're home? Let's have dinner together.”

Neither Jane nor Felix believed what they saw. Just now they were greeted by Papa who was holding Aiden. Hah, what dream did they have last night to see Papa holding Aiden while smiling broadly like that? They arrived at Jane's parents' house at half-six, thirty minutes late from the deal. Until then they stopped to buy Papa's favorite rib soup before going home, just in case Papa would not feel too angry or upset when they arrived home late.

Finally neither Felix nor Jane dared to refuse Papa's invitation to dinner together, but Papa was in a good mood.

They also immediately headed to the dining room to enjoy the cuisine of Mama, the cuisine that Jane missed so much. No one has spoken or just asked about their date today, until Papa finished his rib soup and started to make a sound.

“Jane, Felix.”

“Iya, Pa,” said both at the same time, suddenly feeling tense.

“From now on, you have to bring Aiden here every weekend.”

“Iya?” sahut both of them again at the same time, kontan make Mama laugh softly.

“You should know, all day Papa played with Aiden continuously. Look, he even kept holding Aiden from earlier,” he said on the sidelines of the broth feeding activities on Aiden who sat sweetly on Papa's lap.

“Oh yes, they also watch football games together. It was unexpected that Aiden went down the hobby of his grandfather who really likes football," continued Mama, making Papa smile proudly at the words of his wife.

“Of course. Isn't that right, Aiden? Champ Grandpa.”

Jane almost spilled the soup in her mouth if only she could not remember what it was like to have good manners in eating. Not much different, the hand of Felix who was pinching the cooking steak Mama was silent and floating in the air, unable to continue the journey to the cavity of his mouth.

Papa glanced at the joke on the two. “How? That way you so have free time and maybe can immediately give Aiden a sister.”

Jane choked on hearing her papa's words.

“Papa!” this time Jane couldn't hold back the sprinkling of rib soup from her mouth.

“Why? You have been married three months,” said Papa relaxed.

“Aiden is still a child, Pa,” Felix replied as he slipped.

...***...

Jane and Felix return to their apartment alone as they fail to bring Aiden home with them. It seems Papa is still not satisfied spending half a day with Aiden so ask them to pick up Aiden the next day alone.

At first nothing seemed strange. Once inside the apartment, Jane first went upstairs to take a shower and change her clothes, after finishing a Felix change that cleaned her while Jane went downstairs. Jane decided to cut some fruits and take them to the sofa to make a snack while watching television. Suddenly Felix's voice called out to him from upstairs.

“Jane, can you please get me the little blue towel I hung near the balcony door?”

Jane dodged the fruit bowl and galloped upstairs. As he passed Aiden's room, he realized that he was alone with Felix tonight. Immediately the awkward atmosphere began to whack at him. Jane walked up to the balcony door and grabbed the towel hanging there. Then Jane went into the room to give the towel to Felix. Jane knocks on the bathroom door and soon Felix's head appears from behind the door.

“You shampooing night-night?” jane asked as she stared at the water droplets coming down from the young man's hair.

Felix gave a small nod while messing with his black hair. “Iya, I feel sultry.”

“Your hair should be dried, otherwise you can catch wind.” Jane had just wanted to turn around to pick up the hairdryer but Felix immediately prevented it.

“Not necessary, Jane. I also don't like to wear a hair dryer.”

Jane nodded slowly. After Felix closed the bathroom door, Jane returned to the first floor and continued eating fruit while watching television. His eyes were busy staring at the drama that was being aired, and subconsciously one of his hands came down to massage his calf slowly which was a bit painful. Probably because it stood too long while waiting in line at the cinema this afternoon.

“Why feet?” ask Felix who has come down from the second floor.

Jane turned to Felix, then smiled faintly before looking back at the television in front of him. “Ah, it's okay. Just a little sore.”

“Spray is very powerful. I often wear it when my legs are sore because I stand all day at the cafe.” Said Felix as he started massaging Jane's feet slowly.

At first Jane wanted to refuse, it felt very strange because they had never been like this again before. But finally Jane let Felix massage his legs, after all he was determined to get used to things like this.

Jane also tried to refocus on the spectacle on television, and occasionally he glanced at Felix. Felix's gaze also seemed to focus on the television screen as his hands continued to massage Jane's feet.

“Ka-you want to eat fruit?” ask Jane at last. Without waiting for a reply from Felix, Jane immediately stabbed one watermelon in her bowl and thrust it on Felix. Just now Felix wanted to take the fork out of Jane's hand, but Jane immediately shook her head. “Do not. Just open your mouth.”

Felix nodded slowly and opened his mouth. Jane put the watermelon in her husband's mouth. Felix chewed on the fruit in his mouth while looking back at the television. A speck of watermelon seeds appeared to stick to the lip of Felix. Jane smiled looking at him and subconsciously moved forward to pick up the seeds. Just as Jane's finger touched Felix's face, the young man turned his head and their gazes met. They were silent for a moment, and Jane only realized how minimal the distance between them was at the moment.

When it's like this, Jane remembers what happened last night, when she and Felix kissed for the first time. Not much happened after they kissed that time, there was only the face of the two who were blushing as the pagutan came apart, and that night they ended by glancing at each other and smiling shyly whenever their gazes met.

‘You don't have to come to me. Let me take one step closer to you.’

Felix's words that night reverberated in Jane's ear. One step Felix took that night. Climb the stairs that originally stretched between the two. Felix said Jane didn't have to come to him. What it means Felix......

“Felix, can you tell me that you love me?” know that sentence just slid from Jane's lips. His eyes were locked, caught in Felix's gaze looking straight at him. It took a few seconds for Jane to wait with strange thumping on her chest, until Felix finally made a sound.

“Can.” Felix said quietly as he lowered his gaze down for a moment, before finally returning to Jane. “But I don't promise to say it every day.”

Jane was still silent, her pair of big eyes staring straight at Felix, waiting. Maybe a pledge has just been made today.

“I love you, Jane.”

Slowly a curve crept across Jane's pretty face when she heard Felix's words just now. The promise that in the hearts of both, a taste has been created. Growing into a giant from time to time, until finally the sense of belonging began to dominate.

“I love you too, Felix.”

They are two people who fall in love with each other in a bond. Felix smiled, he moved his face forward and kissed Jane's lips, making the girl gasp a little. But then Felix woke up and took off his kiss.

“Ma-forgive me. Earlier I–” Felix's words were not finished because Jane had first draped both hands on the nape of Felix and kissed Felix's lips briefly.

“It's okay. From now on you don't have to apologize for something like this.” Jane said with a smile.

Felix smiled back and then raised his face again, this time without hesitation or regret accompanying, grappling with Jane's lips. Ducting warmth and small stings that tickle his neurons. Felix took off his pagutan and for a moment they just stared at each other with a warm and blushing face. Suddenly Jane covered her face with both hands and laughed.

“Why?” ask Felix in wonder.

Jane lowered her hand and placed her index finger between her upper lip and nose, trying to stop laughing. He cleared his throat slowly, “I've seen one scene in the romance dramas I watch, you know, when the man holds his woman and.. uhm. I remember I wanted to try it when I was married. and..”.

Not finished Jane explained, Felix who already understood immediately rose and lowered his body to lift the small body of Jane. Jane immediately smiled broadly as Felix straightened up with himself who was in the arms of this young man. Felix lifts it up easily as if Jane was just as light as a feather.

“I've been trying to diet, I'm not heavy right?” ask Jane.

“I just found out that half a baking sheet of chocolate cake, a piece of steak, and a bowl of rib soup is diet food,” Felix said while staring at Jane and smiling ignorantly.

“Ish!” Jane hits Felix on the shoulder while glancing at him cynically, while Felix is blown away instantly.

“I did miss when I finished half the cake pan, but.... uhm, I'm not heavy right? Or maybe I'm gaining weight,” Jane babbles.

“Thank God because you have a strong husband,” said Felix, again adding his ignorant smile. Jane was just about to open her mouth again when Felix had already silenced her. Kiss her as she carries Jane to their room.

Looks like they'll follow Papa's advice tonight.
