Love, Maybe

Love, Maybe
Chapter 3

On Sunday afternoon, Felix came to Jane's house to see his son and meet Jane's parents and talk about their marriage.

Papa looks so happy to welcome his arrival. How not? After a long time there was also a man who proposed to his son. They chatted at length and Papa unceasingly smiled happily. Felix wasn't as cold when he first had dinner with Jane three days ago. Papa just let Felix go when Jane said that the man wanted to see his son.

They also went up to the second floor. Felix waited in the second-floor sitting room while Jane walked into the room. Not long after, Jane came out holding a tiny baby wrapped in a baby blue blanket. Jane approached Felix and sat down next to him.

“This is my son. He's a boy, and his name is Aiden,” Jane said as she showed Aiden's face to Felix. Felix was stunned for a moment.

“Can I carry it?” felix asked without taking his eyes off Aiden.

“Iya, sure.” Jane gives Aiden into Felix's arms.

Felix kept looking at Aiden's sleeping face. Then a curve is created at its level. The man that Jane thought was a little cold was smiling. Yeah, he just smiled. Jane widened her eyes. It was the first time he had seen the man smile sincerely since meeting him three days.

‘She can smile too,‘ Inner Jane.

Felix kissed Aiden's forehead very carefully. And Jane was stunned for a moment. Why is this view so beautiful. Felix was a father who met his son for the first time. And without realizing it, a faint smile formed on Jane's lips.

...***...

Jane crossed her arms, staring at the three wedding dresses that were plastered in front of her. She is currently in a boutique to choose her wedding dress. He then walked around the three dresses while paying attention to every detail in the dress.

Jane stopped in front of a short-sleeved broken white dress with a wide collar cut with white flowers on the top of the dress.

“It looks like this one only. What do you think?,” Jane said as she looked at the two female officers in front of her.

“Good choice, Miss Jane. This dress will definitely look very pretty worn by you,” replied one of the female attendants while smiling kindly and nodding.

Jane is smiling. "Okay, I'll just pick this one."

The female officer immediately took the dress that Jane chose and gave it to the other officer to take to the dressing room.

"You can go back to the dressing room first. I will prepare this dress to try first," the officer said politely. Jane nodded and walked out of the storage room.

“Have the dress?” Felix asked as soon as he saw Jane out. Jane nodded and sat herself down next to Felix who was waiting for him to pick a dress in the dressing room.

Shortly thereafter the female officer who had appeared from behind the dark brown partition curtain in this changing room. Jane stood up and followed the officer.

It did not take long to wear the dress, because indeed the dress that Jane chose did not have a complicated design and turned out to be very fitting on her body, not too narrow but not seductive as well.

After finishing and making sure the dress was used neatly in front of the mirror one body in front of her, Jane smiled with satisfaction.

The officer pressed a small button near the mirror and the curtain opened automatically, revealing Felix sitting on the sofa reading a fashion magazine in his hand.

Felix raised his head and he was stunned for a moment. Felix looked at Jane who was in front of him without blinking, then a single smile appeared on his face.

"That's great. The dress fits you perfectly" Felix said with a smile.

Jane felt her cheeks slightly hot. She lowered her head, and pretended to be busy fixing the bottom of her dress, hoping that her face would not turn red.

...***...

Felix drives his black BMW out of the boutique parking lot. Jane sat next to him and looked at the small notebook in her hand.

“Everything's been, right?” Felix took a quick glance at Jane and refocused on the street in front of her.

Jane nodded while closing the book. This day they were busy taking care of everything for their wedding to be held in two weeks. They have rented a building, choose the wedding theme, flower color, dishes to be served and the wedding dress.

"I didn't expect that preparing for marriage could be this troublesome" Jane said, blasting her lips.

Felix smiled at Jane's words. He glanced at the clock on his car dashboard. It's half seven in the afternoon.

“How about we have dinner before I take you home?” Felix asked as he glanced at Jane.

"Can. Choosing a wedding dress made me very hungry" Jane replied, nodding in agreement. Felix smiled at Jane's words.

...***...

Jane and Felix walk side by side around Sudirman Street. They had finished dinner and had chosen to take a short walk before returning home. Both of them looked tired and covered in silence. Her exhaustion kept Jane down. Felix pulled him when a young man almost hit him.

“Cautious.” Said Felix slowly. Jane smiled little at the treatment.

“Felix, there's something I want to ask you," Jane said at last. The tall young man cleared his throat to respond.

“Why would you marry me?”

Felix's steps stopped, and so did Jane.

“Why are you asking like that?”

“I just... yes. Because it's not like we're married because we love each other.” Answer Jane. Felix walked back, making Jane have to re-adjust the steps.

“Because..your son is funny?”

Jane looked at Felix in wonder. “Aiden isn't the only cute baby in the world, is it? Is it possible that you will marry his mother because her son is cute?” lips Jane. Felix smiled little realizing his stupid answer.

“Look it, let's just say we need each other.”

Jane fell silent and looked towards Felix.

“I need a companion and you need a father for your son, and also because of your papa.” Felix glanced at Jane and smiled faintly.

Ah, that's what it means. But still, after all, they will get married for real.

“But,” Jane hangs her sentence. There was still something that stuck up his mind.

“What else?” felix replied, still patiently facing the girl's questions.

“I have to adjust first. Yes, we're getting married. But I can't yet...well, you know.”.

Felix stopped his steps again, making the girl also do the same. Her hands raised touched Jane's shoulders, behind which the girl's body faced her. His eyes met the girl's brown eyes.

“Jane, that's not my goal to marry you. So I won't force you. Just do what makes you comfortable.”

Jane looked at Felix flat, then a smile flashed across her lips.

...***...

The long-awaited day finally arrived as well.

Today, Jane has officially become the wife of Felix Setiawan. They had just made a sacred promise in front of the priest, Jane's parents and dozens of other invited guests.

A flower girl brought a pair of rings that they would wear. Felix today looks dashing, wearing an all-white suit with a brown tie, as well as shiny-looking black shoes. His hair was neatly combed, really looking very handsome. Jane looked at her mom and dad who kept smiling. They're really happy to have a dashing daughter-in-law like Felix. Felix put Swarovski's ring on Jane's ring finger, and vice versa. The audience applauded after they exchanged rings. Jane still put on a charming smile until the priest said.

“Now you can kiss your bride.”

Jane's smile suddenly faded replaced by a panic expression. Jane didn't expect this. Felix was good, and she is now her husband. But kissing? Jane's not ready.

Jane panicked as Felix moved his face forward.

“F-Felix,” flow.

Felix smiled, not responding to his wife's panic. Papa Jane still clapped her hands happily on her bench. Can't wait to see those two pairs of newlyweds show proof of their love.

And now their faces are only one milliard away. Jane could do nothing more, she closed her eyes and wished it was over.

Lip angle.

Felix did not kiss her lips, but only the corners of her lips.

...***...

Their wedding is over. Jane and Felix are in their new home. A luxury apartment located in South Jakarta. Not only the wedding ceremony, the wedding reception also drained both of them. Jane remembers how Felix apologized for kissing her. But the man also understood by not kissing his lips.

After changing clothes, it was time for them to rest.

“The room is only two, one for Aiden and one for us,” Felix said as he showed two rooms, a rather small room for Aiden and a big one for.

For a moment they stared awkwardly at each other. Felix then cleared his throat to neutralize the atmosphere.

“You look tired, today let me sleep with Aiden. You just sleep in the room,” said Felix.

In Aiden's room there is a single bed that is provided if Jane has to sleep with Aiden or for Aiden if it is a bit big later. Jane nodded awkwardly. Aiden's room and the main room are located opposite.

“Goodnight,” Felix said before finally disappearing behind Aiden's bedroom door.

“I-iya, good night.”

...***...

The sun shone brightly, its yellowish light entering the crevices of the windows of the main room. Make room temperature warm. Jane squirms on her king-size mattress. He sat down, still trying to gather his consciousness.

Jane got up and walked to Aiden's room. But how surprised Jane when she found the baby box in the room was empty.

Oh is he careless again? Where did he forget to put Aiden?

Jane immediately went down the stairs to the first floor. Slender. There was no one in the living room or kitchen. But then Jane felt something was strange.

Where is he?

Busy raging with her mind kept Jane from hearing the sound of the outside door opening. Felix came in while pushing the baby carriage.

“You're up apparently,” Felix said and it surprised Jane.

Jesus, Jane just remembered that now that she's not alone, she already has a husband.

“K-you from where?” jane asked while trying to cover up her shock.

“I've taken Aiden for a morning walk.” Felix tugged a few plastic bags into the kitchen.

“What do you want breakfast?”

Jane followed Felix into the kitchen. “You can cook?”

“Yes, why? Oh yeah, I stopped by the minimarket and bought milk and eggs. Looks like omelette is enough for breakfast.”

Jane looked at Felix in wonder. Is he a husband or a maid? Early in the morning he had taken Aiden for a walk and now he was going to make breakfast too. Jane scratched her non-itchy neck.

Jane walks over and helps Felix prepare breakfast. While eating, they plan to buy Aiden's needs and some home supplies. After they finished breakfast, they immediately got ready and left the house to the supermarket.

They break into the supermarket with Jane carrying a bag of baby gear and pushing the pram, while Felix pushes the trolley.

"Here, give me the bag" Felix said, grabbing Jane's bag. He then placed the bag inside the trolley he pushed. They walked down every aisle and picked out what they were going to buy.

“This is it, here the diapers place.”

Jane cleared her throat while observing one brand of pampers in front of her.

“Hmm, this one is it.” Jane lifted a bag of diapers and showed it to Felix who pushed the trolley next to him.

“Hey, Aiden was just born. Buy a newborn size one or an S, not this one,” Felix protests next to it.

Jane close the seedlings and go back to observe the brands of diapers on the shelf. “Buy the size S... ” murmur.

“Ah, here it is. Size S.” Jane was about to pick up the diaper when she heard another protest from Felix.

“Do not buy that one.” Felix went forward and followed the shelves. "This. Yeah, buy this one. These pampers are twice as soft. We take the contents 100.” Felix took diapers with different brands with Jane's choice.

“Next, milk bottle.” Jane was attracted to a light blue milk bottle with an elephant on the lid.

“Don't, this one is it. The rubber is softer for his mouth.” Felix replaced the bottle in Jane's hand with a white milk bottle. Jane had to put the bottle into their trolley.

Next they head for the baby's milk section.

“Herussia—”

“Iya, I know. Buy milk for newborns, right?” jane interrupted. He was annoyed to be blamed continuously from earlier. Jane looked at the milk brands one by one. “Ah, here it is. We take the—”

“Wait a minute.”

Felix snatched the milk can in Jane's hand. He carefully read the contents of the formula milk.

“Ah Yes. Have you taken Aiden to the doctor?” ask Felix.

“But.”

“We must confirm whether Aiden is allergic to cow's milk protein or not.” Felix went back to reading the contents on the milk label.

“What should we buy soy milk only?”

“Tomorrow I'll take him to dok—”

“Can't be so. If Aiden is hungry how?”

“Felix, Aiden is not allergic to protein. She's been living in my house and my mom has given her formula. The orphanage will also tell me that Aiden has allergies or other illnesses. Besides, why did you manage Aiden's needs?”

Srek.

Something fell out of Felix's hand. He looked at Jane with a flat face. Jane looked down and saw that what fell was a small note. Felix's body stiffened as Jane lowered her head to retrieve the note.

Jane read a row of words written on the note. Milk formula, diapers, milk bottles, blankets. These are all baby needs. Is this for Aiden?

“You've recorded all this?” jane asked, looking up at Felix in disbelief.

“Restore that note.” Felix tried to grab the note but Jane was smarter.

“Wait. You found out and prepared this list?” Jane's still hunting him with questions. “My mother has already shopped for Aiden. You should just ask Mama—”

“Already, we still have to buy baby clothes. Don't waste time,” said Felix riled and passed pushing his trolley away from Jane.

Jane laughed a little. He looked down at Aiden who was sleeping in the baby carriage.

"Aiden, it looks like you've got a caring Papa" Jane said quietly. She pushes her baby carriage and tries to catch up to Felix who is already away.
