Loving Paralyzed Men

Loving Paralyzed Men
Akira Abraham

Exhausted, Akira Olivia raised her head upright and rubbed her neck with her fingers. The glare of the lights on the table made his eyes burn. Trying to massage the temple with his finger while yawning.

Akira is confused, having to immediately find investors to save his business, Akira Fashion Designer. Three years he pioneered it all with his grandmother, designing, building, manufacturing, and selling clothes from his work.

Akira took a deep breath and closed his eyes for a moment.

No way, I can't give up.

Akira had to cut production costs as much as possible, but the clothes had to be made anyway. The employee will keep working, and he or she will have to find a way to deal with these financial issues.

What Akira needs is someone who is willing to take the risk of helping a small business run by a twenty-eight-year-old woman who has little experience in fashion.

The phone rang, Akira quickly went down the stairs, wishing her grandmother well.

Who else would call me at two in the morning like this?

“Halo can I talk to Mrs Akira Abraham?” said a woman across the phone.

“Who?” ask Akira wonder.

“I nurse from hospital XXX, mistress. I tried to contact Mrs Akira Abraham. Wife of Mr. Dimas Abraham.”

“Dimas?”

“Are you Mrs Akira Abraham?”

“I think yes.” Of course it is. “Iya,” added, feeling a little embarrassed.

“Mr Dimas is now at XXX hospital, we have not yet determined his diagnosis, but Mr Dimas is really sick. He asked us to contact you Mistress.”

Surprised to be heard from the voice of Akira “I..?”.

“Ya Mistress.”

“He searched for me?” akira asked once more with a face full of question marks.

The nurse's voice sounded upset. “If you want to see your husband, Mrs Abraham, she is in the intensive care unit. He was fully conscious - neither injured nor operated on. He can be visited at any time. You should know that the condition is quite serious.”

Akira listened well to the nurse's explanation, then hung up.

Dimas is in this town, in the hospital, and looking for me? After three years of silence, now he's looking for me. Dimas must have been very sick.

Akira stands in front of the ICU room hearing Dr. Jerry's explanation, trying to understand what the bald man in front of him explained about Dimas' current condition.

“Mister Dimas' arms and legs are partially paralyzed, and it looks like they will get worse. There is damaged tissue in his spine and muscles. Even so I can't be sure, but I'm sure he has Guillain-Barre syndrome.”

Paralyzed dimas. Oh my God, inner Akira.

Akira vividly remembers how strong Dimas's arms and legs are, his well-built body, his field chest, the strength and pleasure Akira feels in Dimas' arms.

Akira buried all those sweet memories for three years, but now they're all back.

Why did he come back to God?

Akira and Dimas look very harmonious together, but that was the first time. When love can unite every difference between them.

“No, he won't feel any pain. Even though his body is numb. He can feel pressure, warmth, touch, just like always.” replied Doctor Jerry.

“Is he dying?” Akira bit his lip for saying so. There was a feeling of fear raging within his chest.

“There are many cases of death caused by this syndrome, but now it has been reduced. However, most cases of death caused by this syndrome are due to respiratory disorders when the chest muscles used to breathe experience paralysis. Now Mr. Dimas is in the ICU so we can monitor his breathing. The positive thing is that his breathing is in a normal state at this time.” explained Doctor Jerry again.

“Will he...” Akira's lips refused to say the word paralysis. “Will he recover?” Say yes Doctor!

“We couldn't predict it. It's too early. We also cannot confirm that she has Guillain-Barre syndrome until we do further tests. In fact, we do not know how widespread the paralysis will spread in his body. It could be just a day, maybe a week. Then we will propose for rehabilitation. But you should know that there are no specific symptoms of Guillain-Barre syndrome. Some patients only experience paralysis that is not too severe, some others experience paralysis that is quite serious. There are patients who can recover one hundred percent, but most experience permanent paralysis, Mrs Abraham.”

“Nona Akira, Akira Olivia,” said Akira confirmed his name in a daze, and thought why he quickly realized the doctor was calling his name wrongly.

Dimas is now paralyzed. It might be dying. And looking for myself. Wh why? Ever since I left Dimas three years ago, Dimas has never contacted me. Then why now?

Maybe Dimas realized that their marriage was not going well. Living in the upper middle class as the wife of a famous wealthy businessman. Akira never felt comfortable, living in rules that weakened his spirit.

But now Dimas is very sick. And looking for her, Akira will unlikely let her through this alone.

If Dimas does need me until Sofia's sister and her friends come, then so be it.

A few seconds Akira thought.

Would Dimas do the same if I were in my current position.

“Can I see him Doctor? Can he speak?” ask Akira.

“You can meet her Miss Akira. He is awake, and so far, his speech ability is not disturbed at all.”

So far!

“For the sake of Mr. Dimas, I advise you to be patient. Be yourself. Don't treat him like a cripple. His recovery depends on his emotions.” Doctor's advice.

Jerry opened the door to the ICU. “Stay as long as you want. I'll check it out tomorrow. Good night.” said Doctor Jerry then stepped away.

While Akira was silent. Choosing to stand in front of the door without daring to step inside.

Akira's mind is still raging.

Do I have to go in? But what am I supposed to say?

Akira then walked back and forth in front of the ICU room. Weighing to go inside, or better go home.

Akira chooses to sit on the available bench, then opens his phone and finds out about Dimas' illness.

Akira typed the word Guillain-Barre syndrome in the search field.

Akira's forehead shriveled, his eyes focused on reading every article about the syndrome.

"Oh my God, so sorry are you Dimas. I hope you don't have this syndrome" Akira said.

Akira then put the phone in a small bag that he was carrying. Standing in front of the door of the ICU room, tidying her hair and clothes that looked tangled and then entered.
