Loving Paralyzed Men

Loving Paralyzed Men
Re-meeting

Akira blinked his eyes at the medical devices in the room. The room is divided into two sections with three separate beds. A nurse glanced at Akira

“Mrs Abraham?”

Akira nodded, too complicated to protest against the nurse mispronouncing her name.

“Your husband is our only patient in the ICU room tonight. We're monitoring his heartbeat and lungs. Let's go through here Mrs.” said the nurse kindly.

“Someone wants to meet you Mr. Dimas.”

Akira strengthens himself. He closed his eyes and breathed quietly.

Come on Akira's spirit.

Akira opened his eyes, forced himself to smile, and stepped closer to Dimas.

“Dimes. What is a strong man like you doing here?’ akira said awkwardly.

Dimas is in a sitting position, with his head propped up by an elevated bed, looks uncomfortable because it does not fit his height, he said, there was a small white disc full of tiny wires attached to his chest.

Akira stared at Dimas' chin, his cheeks blackened as it began to overgrow his beard. Akira's body is amused to remember past memories where his skin is often blistered due to Akira's thin mustache when kissing him.

After three years, and in such a bad state, the presence of Dimas still makes Akira soft.

Akira holds the edge of Dimas' bed to show his support for Dimas.

“Kira? What is..?” Dimas moved his left arm slowly and tried to grab the blanket. Dimas pulled the blanket awkwardly, he tried to cover his body.

Akira doesn't know what to do.

Should I help her? Or let him do it himself.

Miraculously Akira was able to rediscover his voice after a moment of silence.

“What do you want to hide Dim? You remember me, right? I've seen your whole body before, right” Akira tried to melt the awkward atmosphere.

“Why are you here? What do you want?” Dimas answered quickly.

Seen a look of fear from Dimas's face.

“Thank you as always, wasn't that Dimas? I'm the helper angel you call in the middle of the night like this.”

“Call You? You you? What am I doing it for?” dimas said as he pulled the blanket recklessly.

Akira tried to help.

“No! No!" yelled Dimas while turning his eyes the other way. “Nurse…! Can you fix this fucking blanket. It's cold.” he screams again.

Surprised by Dimas's scream, Akira inched back. Waiting quietly while watching the nurse fix the Dimas blanket.

When the nurse left, Akira spoke again.

"Dimas, a nurse called me last night and looked for Akira Abraham. It took me a few minutes to realize it was me. I don't know how he knew my phone number. He said you wanted to see me. That's why I came. Maybe this is just a misunderstanding.”

A moment Akira was silent, then calmly said “I didn't mean to bother you at all. Maybe I should go.”

Prevent me from going Dimas! Pinta Akira in heart.

“Don't go! Please,” added Dimas gently. “I don't remember giving your name and phone number, but I think I did it—thank you for coming.” continued Dimas.

“How can I refuse when you say ‘please’ and’thank you’ in one paragraph? Are you starting to get soft because of Dimas' age?" Akira tried to dilute the somewhat awkward atmosphere.

“Being soft from boredom, maybe. There's nothing I can do here.” Dimas sighed and looked frightened from the look on his face.

In the years they lived together, Akira never saw Dimas in fear. Dimas lives by controlling his emotions that are never shown because it is difficult to guess by anyone - except when they make love.

Dimas will greatly show its warmth, strength, with an explosive feeling.

Akira reminisces about the past. Focus on remembering the last night before he left Dimas. When Dimas worked late into the night, then went home and went straight into the study leaving Akira alone at the dinner table who had been waiting for him a few hours ago.

If Dimas had paid him a little more attention, Akira might not have decided to leave…

The hour hand indicates the time is near the early morning. But two people who had lived together to combine love, dissolved in a warm chatter until they did not realize the sun had started to emerge from hiding.

“Do you want to tell me about this Gullian-Bare syndrome?” ask Akira.

“No, please, not now. Just talk about anything else you want. Just divert my attention from this disease.” replied Dimas.

“Have you contacted Sofia?” ask Akira again.

“No.”

“How is my sister-in-law? I haven't heard from her since she stopped writing about the demands of the rules to be the wife of a Dimas Abraham.”

“She was preoccupied with her affairs as a wife, so she didn't have time to bother me. But lately he's been busy looking for a replacement for you. You have to look at some of the candidates and help me to choose the exact same one as you.” Dimas replied.

Akira laughed at Dimas' humorous tone.

“Some of them will probably be much better than me.” Dimas did not press, and Akira spoke again. “Do you want me to contact Sofia?” continued.

“It's fine, but tell him I'm here just to check-up.” Dimas said.

“Why?” ask Akira wonder.

“She must have come just to cry seeing me, but she won't be able to help.” Dimas shrugged his shoulders and sighed again.

Akira changed the subject, asking Dimas about some friends he had never met again since their breakup. The two did not talk at all about their marriage, nor their separation.

The nurse came in to bring Dimas breakfast on a tray, Dimas tried to pick up a large spoon of porridge, but fell into the bowl of porridge. Akira tried to help her.

“No, no! Go find your own breakfast menu,” said Dimas roughly. “You must be hungry Kira”

Akira walked out without looking.

You're still like you used to be.

Akira then walked slowly down the aisle of the hospital. Akira's mind rages, one side he thinks of a fashion show plan that in a few days must be implemented. However, the cost becomes a constraint.

On the other hand, now Akira is also thinking about the condition of Dimas.

When will it be like this?

Do I always have to be with him?

Am I up to it?

Oh, my God, help me.

For a moment Akira stopped, staring at a patient in a wheelchair in the park. The man is seen turning his own chair wheel in order to move forward.

Will Dimas be like that too?

Akira quickly shook his head.

"No way, hopefully not."
