Akira smiles as Dimas exposes his new, state-of-the-art wheelchair. Dimas' condition has improved since he was discharged from the hospital six weeks ago. Dimas has tried very hard for his recovery. Even so from the look in Dimas' eyes, he still looked frustrated because he could not heal faster.
"Before GBS, only a Ferrari could make me feel the same incredible sensation that I feel today with this seat." Dimas.
Slowly, Dimas raised his arm and slipped his hand across the wheel, and began to move it very slowly.
"Does that seat have anything to do with the black van in front?" Ask Akira.
"Yes, yesterday Rama provided everything for me. At first Rama intended to wait for you until you came home from work to show you about this. See even this wheelchair has a remote control. So it would be easier for me to get out of this place. Yeeeahh!" Dimas replied enthusiastically.
'So Dimas wanted to get out of my house?' ask Akira in my heart.
Dimas desperately wants his freedom just as Akira wanted it three and a half years ago. And when Dimas gains his freedom, Akira will definitely be deeply hurt and lost.
"You seem to be ready to go exploring the outside world. I have to warn the girls in this town" said Akira, trying to make his voice sound less sad.
"You can't imagine how confined I've been since I've been sick for three long months, because you have to go out every day. God knows, I'm ready to go."
Seeing Dimas' happy face, Akira puts aside his feelings about the future, and promises himself to enjoy the present.
From Dimas's face, Akira guesses that what Dimas thinks is the same as what he thinks.
"Do you think we can do it?" Ask Akira.
"We are adults who are very smart. Of course we can. Rama told me some of the worst possibilities, but I'm sure we can deal with them."
"Where are we going?"
"Watching movies and dinner. Agreed?"
"certain. I'm gonna go get a jacket first, it's cold outside. I'll get you a jacket, too." Akira then ran to his room.
Dimas held the wheelchair remote control, made the wheelchair walk slowly and tried to get out through the door. The wheelchair runs up to the terrace and stops abruptly.
"What's wrong?" Akira asked confusedly.
Then Akira saw the cause, the uneven path. There are four ladders.
"Damn! I'm still stuck here." Rutuk Dimas's.
"I can take you down the stairs, and take care of you. My college friend had an accident that left her leg broken and I helped her get around campus in a wheelchair."
"Are you sure?"
"Of course." Akira said with a very high self-confidence. "Remove that doubt from your face. We can do it."
"Darling, you can't lift a weight of seventy kilograms. I don't want you to hurt yourself. I can sit here for a while and enjoy the fresh air and the sunset."
Fooled by Dimas's surrender and unwilling to struggle, Akira grasped the wheelchair's handle, then turned Dimas's back to him. Akira stepped up the stairs first, then slowly pulled Dimas back.
Akira hears Dimas breathing and realizes Dimas must be terrified. If Akira loses control of his wheelchair, Dimas will fall on the stairs and he will not be able to protect himself from injuries.
Every step through the stairs, Akira and Dimas were worried, afraid that Akira would not hold Dimas' weight.
"I remember what Rama said, 'Make sure you wear a vest.' And this is what he meant, I should have worn a vest so as not to get hurt if anything happened to me."
Akira just smiled.
Eventually, both of them arrived safely below. Although only four steps, but really a very hard struggle for both. Akira could breathe.
After a few minutes, Akira came out of the house with a face of sumringah.
"I've got a restaurant and a movie theater that suits us." Akira walks beside Dimas as a guide to the van.
"What movie?" Ask Dimas.
"As far as you are. Want action, romantic drama, animation..."
"Is there a movie about marriage?" Asked Dimas who cut off Akira's speech.
"Twivorty."
"Film outside?"
Akira shook his head, "Domestic film, cast Reza Rahardian and Raihaanun, this film elevates married life. Starting from the beginning of a relationship that feels sweet to slowly begin to stretch because of the busyness and difficulty of communication to cause quarrels." Answer Akira.
"Have you ever seen?"
"That's fine, but not too focused."
"Why? It must be because I thought of it!"
"Oh yes." Reply Akira smiled.
"OK fix. Then let's watch that movie." Said Dimas, retorted by a nod by Akira.
Both of them got into the car, after Akira had to try to push Dimas back into the car through the ride which was already made specifically and installed in the van.
After hooking up Dimas' wheelchair with a hook to keep him safe, Akira starts driving to the cinema.
Both of them felt very happy because they could finally go out together to watch in the cinema. Until finally they arrived at a cinema that has special facilities for people with disabilities.
Both of them were a little uncomfortable with the look of pity that the other visitors showed. Some people lowered their heads as Akira and Dimas passed by. But Dimas didn't want to be inferior, he sat up straight. Akira who pushed Dimas could clearly see Dimas' neck veins stiffening.
The two then lined up to buy pop corn and drinks. After that, go to the cinema room because the movie will start soon.
Dimas clasped Akira's hand when he was in the cinema room. He felt very comfortable because Akira was by his side through the difficult times he was facing.
The film begins, Dimas looks focused staring at the big screen in front of him. Akira occasionally feeds Dimas pop corn, and directs a straw to his lips for a drink.
"Thank you for everything." Say Dimas in a whisper.
"Thank you for trying so hard that we can get here both." Reply Akira.
"But you're the one who's foamy...."
"Shhhh...." The voice of an audience cut through Dimas' speech.
Both of them were silent while smiling.
Until the film ends, Dimas looks silent. Makes Akira think that Dimas is in pain.
"Muazo..." Call Akira.
"A really good movie. Acting Reza Rahardian is no doubt. There are a lot of messages from this movie that we can take. But one thing is certain. I'm more handsome than Reza Rahardian." It was Dimas who made Akira laugh.
"That's it, let's have dinner." Akira.
