MARANTI (FOOD OF THE DEAD)

MARANTI (FOOD OF THE DEAD)
CHAPTER 39: ER

After traveling for about half an hour, we finally arrived at the hospital. Mas Diki immediately took our car to the emergency department.

Arriving at the main door of the ER, I immediately went down and headed to the reception room of the ER, while Mas Wisnu and Ikbal were busy carrying the body of Mbak Ning who was getting limp. The officer in white clothes immediately brought a gurney near my car. Ms. Ning was lifted up to the top of the gurney and taken into the emergency room. There was an officer who slightly interviewed Mas Vishnu before finally the officer entered the emergency room. Vishnu and Ikbal were not allowed to enter.

After filling in some administrative completeness, I went to Mas Vishnu and Ikbal who were standing in front of the door of the room that was tightly closed.

"What did the medics ask you, Mas?" ask my husband, Sister Ning.

"The doctor asked about the complaints of pain Mbak Ning and so on," replied Mas Vishnu.

"Yes already, Mas. We better sit down first afraid that it will even interfere and then the run over of the ER officer who wants to pass here," I replied.

The three of us were sitting on a long bench that was located a little close to the door of the ER room. After sitting for a few minutes, finally Mas Diki who had parked his car came.

"Where is Sister Ning, Mas?" my husband asked, curious.

"Hug to know, Brother. Ikbal and I must not go inside" replied Mas Vishnu.

Suddenly the door of the ER room opened and a medical officer came out who had interviewed Mas Vishnu. Ikbal's cousin immediately stood up and welcomed the medical officer who seemed to be conveying something to us.

"Where's my wife's condition, Doc?" ask Mas Vishnu with a frightened expression.

"Look, Sir ... Looks like there's a problem with Mother Ningsih's stomach. While we're just trying to stop her blood from vomiting first. But Ms Ningsih now needs an immediate blood transfusion because she is bleeding too much" the woman's doctor replied.

"But, my wife's okay, right, Doc?" ask Vishnu again.

"We can't confirm that yet, sir. Because the condition of Mother Ningsih until now has not been stable. We ask you and your mother to help us find blood type A rhesus positive. I happen to have contacted the PMI he said the blood group for now is running out. There's the same blood type, but the stock is out of town. Tomorrow at the earliest, we can get here. Meanwhile, Ibu Ningsih did not have much time left to wait for her," the doctor replied rather slowly.

"I'm ready to donate blood, Doc!" answer Mas Vishnu.

"I'm ready too, Doc!" answer Ikbal.

"Me too, Doc!" answer Mas Diki.

Only I was silent because my blood type was A but rhesus was negative.

"Did these Fathers and Mas know his blood type?" ask the doctor again.

"No, Doc!" answer the three of them simultaneously.

"Alright, now I will give you a letter of introduction to do blood checking in the Laboratory. If any of you have a blood type that matches that of Ms. Ningsih, the Laboratory will immediately transfuse blood from you to Ms. Ningsih," replied the doctor wearing the eblik that read "dr. Indri" in his left pocket.

"Okay, Miss Indri" I replied

"Okay, please one of you I allow to go inside to accompany the patient, but remember, remember, inside should not make a crowd because there are still some patients who are in critical time other than Ms. Ningsih," said Indri doctor again.

"All right, Miss Indri. I will accompany my brother inside," I replied firmly.

"Okay, come on in, Mom! The others followed me to the reception desk. I will give you a letter of introduction," said Dr. Indri.

"Yes, Doctor Ma'am" replied Mas Diki and Ikbal.

"Yes, Mommy" I replied slowly.

I also entered the ER room after being opened the door by doctor Indri.

It turns out that in the room of the ER there are several more rooms. There is one room that is quite wide in size and there are curtains between each other.

"Bu Ningsih is in room number three on the right" Indri said as I walked inside.

"Thank you, Mom!" my answer.

And the door of the ER room was closed again by Indri doctors. I walked to the right according to the instructions of Dr. Indri. Arriving in the rooms that were only limited by the green curtains, I walked while counting the rooms I passed. There was a strange thing I felt at the time. There was no sound in the room. The atmosphere was so quiet and gripping. So silent, I could hear the sound of my own breathing.

"One ... two ... three ...." I counted one room at a time on the right until the count of three.

After believing I had reached the handling room of Mbak Ningsih, I also slowly grabbed the green cloth that covered the room number three. I'm trying to find the edges of the fabric that's split. The green color of the cloth reminded me of the cloth commonly used as a coffin cover in my place.

After searching for the part of the fabric that was split, I found it and tried to uncover the cloth. Suddenly a hand touched my shoulder. I reflexively looked back to find out who was behind me. I was quite surprised to see someone with slightly wide eyes standing behind me. In his hand was holding an operating knife.

"Who told you to come into this room?" answer with a firm voice.

"Yes God! S-s-I'm Bu Ningsih's sister, Doc. The patient who had just entered this room," I stammered in surprise.

"This isn't Ms. Ningsih's room. This is the room of another patient who just died in an accident. I'll sew up his wounds before his body is taken to the morgue" replied the officer, whose face was a bit spooky and used a name tag that read 'dr. It's crispy' in his right pocket.

"Loh, said Dr. Indri. Bu Ningsih's room is at number three?" my protest.

"Yes, right. But this is not number three. This is number four" replied the officer.

"Loh! Yes tah? It looks like number three. I've just counted it," I replied.

"Try counting again!" answer the officer.

I also tried to count back while stepping away from the officer.

"One ... two .. three ... uh yes, four. How could that be wrong, huh? though it was ... Ah already!" I said to myself.

"Yes, Miss Reny, I'm sorry but" I told the officer.

"Well, where did Miss Crispy just go? Did he go inside? But, the time he went into that room without making the slightest sound?" I thought as soon as I lost track of the doctor.
