MARANTI (FOOD OF THE DEAD)

MARANTI (FOOD OF THE DEAD)
EPISODE 81: THE DEVOTION

Today the arrival of Marni doctor is very much awaited by Mr. Ade and Ms. Nisa. They both want to ascertain whether the condition of Mr. Ade has made it possible to take home. Since this morning Ms. Nisa has been preparing their luggage. So that later they do not take a long time for the return process.

“How did you sleep last night?” ask Sister Marissa.

Mr. Ade and Ms. Nisa did not immediately answer. The two of them stared at each other first for fear of mispronouncing.

“Thank God, the three of us slept pretty well last night, Sister,” said Bu Nisa finally.

“Mr, how?” sister Marissa asked again while looking at Bu Nisa's husband.

“S-Brand, Sus. I also fell asleep well last night,” Pak Ade replied a little nervously.

“Good then. Hopefully the results of the examination of Doctor Marni later the results will be good and you are allowed to go home as you wish,” replied Sister Marissa while checking the tension and body temperature of Mr. Ade.

“Hopefully so, Sister. I already want to breathe home air,” replied Mr. Ade.

“It's not hard here, huh?” sahut Sister Marissa.

“As good as the facilities of the hospital room, still better atmosphere at home itself, Sister,” said Bu Nisa.

“Well, that's right, ma'am. Take care of your health, Mom! Not to go to the hospital!” reply Sister Marissa.

“Iya. Thank you very much, Sister for your help here. We apologize if there is a wrong word with Sister and all the officers of this hospital,” said Ms. Nisa.

“Sama-Sama, Mom. We also thank you because Mother and Father have entrusted this hospital to take care of Father and also we apologize that as long as Mother's husband is cared for here there is our service that is less pleasing in heart of Mother and Father of the family,” replied Sister Marissa.

“No, Sister. As long as my husband is cared for here, we are completely satisfied with the service here. Oh yes, Sister, what time did Marni's doctor come, huh?” ask Miss Nisa.

“Around ten, Mom. Today he had a schedule of doing a small operation at eleven. Before performing the operation, he must have come here first,” replied Sister Marissa.

“OK. Thanks for the information, Sus. Oh yes we have a little gift for Sister Marni as a thank you,” said Ms. Nisa.

“What gift, Mom? I'm not on a birthday,” Sister Marissa replied in confusion.

Miss Nisa hastily picked up the envelope with the money she had prepared since yesterday. Sister Marissa was shocked when she saw the white envelope Ms. Nisa was holding.

“This is a little thank you from us for Sister Marissa,” said Bu Nisa to the Sister who is quite senior when compared with the other sisters.

“Sorry, Mom. I can't accept this! This hospital prohibits its employees from receiving gifts of any kind from the patient or his family”, Sister Marissa refused.

“No, Sister! We don't mean to bribe Sister. We give this personally to Mbak Marissa, not to Sister Marissa,” woo Bu Nisa.

“Please, Sister! Accept my wife's gift. We will be very sad if the Sister does not want to accept it,” said Mr. Ade.

“If I accept it, I will be sad for a lifetime for disappointing my teacher,” Sister Marissa replied with teary eyes.

Ms. Nisa approached Sister Marissa who was suddenly melancholy.

“If you may know, what happened to Sister Marissa's teacher?” asked Bu Nisa with empathy.

“Fifteen years ago, I was studying. In the last year, both of my parents had a traffic accident and died. Having no cost to continue my studies, I decided to drop out of school. However, a week later my homeroom teacher came home asking me to go to school again. I refused because of the cost factor. However, Ms. Fitri continued to force me to stay in school and she herself would help pay my school fees. I still rejected it because I know Bu Fitri is just an honorary teacher whose salary is very minimal. However, Bu Fitri continued to force me. He said he would not go home until I accepted his offer. Finally, I accepted Bu Fitri's offer and continued school until graduation,” Sister Marissa said in a sad tone.

“Where is Bu Fitri now, Sus?” sahut Bu Nisa while stroking the shoulders of the Sister who took care of her husband.

“Be-li-au died first the day before I was declared to graduate from the school,” Sister Marissa replied with tears that she could not bear anymore.

Miss Nisa is shocked to hear Sister Marissa's story.

“Propay yes, Sus! Bu Fitri must be proud to see Sister Marissa has been successful and useful to the crowd!” answer Miss Nisa.

“Yes, Miss Nisa. Therefore, please understand my rejection, yes? Because during his life, Ms. Fitri once advised me, if later I have worked in a company, I am not allowed to receive any gifts from people I help. I cannot resist the message of the late Bu Fitri because that is all I can do to be devoted to him

,” Sister Marissa replied in a serious tone.

Miss Nisa took a moment. Then the woman replied.

“Iya, Sus. I understand now. I'm sorry I've tried to interfere with Sister's working principle. May the late Bu Fitri get the best place on his side,” said Bu Nisa.

“Aammiiin ...,” says Sister Marissa.

“I'm sorry to say goodbye, Mom. I'm sorry if I've been complaining to Mom. I'm going to the other room first. If you need anything, please let me know!” sister Marisa said before she left the treatment room, Mr. Ade.

Ms. Nisa looked at Sister Marissa's departure with haru feelings. He did not expect in this capitalist era, there are still people with strong opinions such as Sister Marissa and the late Bu Fitri, her teacher Sister Marissa.

“How lucky is Sister Marissa who is surrounded by amazing people. A treasure for people like Sister Marissa and her teacher is not the ultimate goal. Their main goal is to benefit their lives for others. While me? Since childhood I have lived in an environment that put money above everything else. Only at the beginning of marriage can I feel true happiness without a lot of money. As marriage grew older, Mas Ade and I were both enslaved by money and possessions. Ah, is it possible that people like me and Mas Ade will be given an opportunity by God to feel true happiness again?” Miss Nisa contemplated her life for a few seconds.
