MARANTI (FOOD OF THE DEAD)

MARANTI (FOOD OF THE DEAD)
EPISODE 30: TWO FRIENDS

Mr. Salihun and Mr. Ratno have almost reached the cemetery area of Pomegranate hamlet. At that time the sun had not yet risen, so the view was still dim. Mr. Ratno who is more timid than Mr. Salihun did not want to be far from his friend.

“Rat, don't stick around! Ntar seen by kayak what?” mr. Salihun protested while avoiding his friend.

“My eyes are a little myopic, Hun. What if I hit?” mr. Ratno replied trying to cover up his fear.

“Not a reason, Rat! You're scared, right?” mr. Salihun.

“No, Hun. I'm actually a little short-sighted. So, let me hold your hand so that I do not fall or stumble,” replied Mr. Ratno while trying to pull Mr. Salihun's arm.

“This you, Rat! I said the difference yes risih,” snapped Mr. Salihun.

“Yes already then, I want to go home. Let it be a little afternoon I go to the rice field so as not to stumble on the road,”omel Mr. Ratno.

Mr. Salihun turned his head for a moment towards Mr. Ratno. He did not expect Mr. Ratno to say that. He is well aware that in terms of on the field, Mr. Ratno is more deft than himself. If until Mr. Ratno did not come to the rice field, he might be exhausted in the rice field of Mr. Herman for working alone. Thinking about it, Mr. Salihun finally lowered his ego. Mr. Ratno smiled triumphantly towards his friend. It seemed like the old man could already guess that Mr. Salihun would succumb to him if he threatened him.

“Come here, hunt dah!” mr. Salihun said with annoyance.

“Still yes, friend!” answered Mr. Ratno while holding his friend's arm and continuing the journey through the public cemetery area of Pomegranate village of Sido Mekar.

“Hun, my feeling is a bit unpleasant, yes?” mr. Ratno said after stepping several times.

“What are you talking about, Rat? I'm not feeling well, afraid that someone will see us both in love with kayak gini,” Pak Salihun replied still with his frustration.

“Truly loh, Hun. I feel like something is not right here,” said Mr Ratno.

“You've been quiet, Rat. You just shut up! There's nothing here. Nih, I look towards the tomb, no one-si-“ replied Mr. Salihun as he turned towards the tomb.

Mr. Salihun stopped his steps so that Mr. Ratno also stopped his steps. Mr. Ratno was surprised why Mr. Salihun stopped his steps.

“What's up, Hun? You suddenly shut up?” ask Mr. Ratno.

“Rat .. Rat ... try to see there!” mr. Salihun replied stammeringly as he turned Mr. Ratno's head towards the cemetery.

Mr. Ratno complied as his head was turned ninety degrees so that it faced into the burial area. Mr. Ratno who was not really myopic was focusing his eyes on the area intended by his friend. And how surprised the old man was after seeing the suspicious figure inside the burial area.

“Hun, who is it? That's a ghost what person, Hun?” said Mr. Ratno stammered.

“Come, Rat. Not so clear. But, it seems there is no way that there are humans who enter the burial area at this hour,” replied Mr. Salihun with a little stammering as well.

“You mean the one we see right now is a ghost?” asked Mr. Salihun while looking at the mysterious figure.

“It seems yes, Rat,” replied Mr. Salihun short.

“Keep, we want to stay here or run, Hun?” ask Mr. Ratno.

“We'll just run, Rat! It seems like the figure knows where we are, Rat. You see, the figure will turn towards us, right?” mr. Salihun.

“I count one to three, yes! Sa-tu .. du-a .. ti-gaaa!!!” the two men immediately ran away as soon as the count of three was finished.

“Aaaaaaaaaa!!” shouted Mr. Salihun and Mr. Ratno while running away from the cemetery area.

Mr. Ratno ran towards the rice field while Mr. Ratno ran towards the house. Just running three steps, the two men only realized that they both ran in opposite directions.

“Loh, I'm going to the rice field!” thought Mr. Salihun.

“Loh, Salihun why run home? If in the rice field I met the ghost how?” thought Mr. Ratno.

“I ran to the rice fields alone so I could be with Ratno,” thought Mr. Salihun later.

“I just go back, let's meet Salihun,” thought Mr. Ratno.

The two old men turned their bodies and ran in the opposite direction.

“Aaaaaa!!!” they shouted while running in the opposite direction.

When passing through the gate, Mr. Salihun saw Mr. Ratno also running in the opposite direction with panic. This time he did not want to take a headache, he also pulled Mr. Ratno's hand to turn towards the rice field again. As a result, for a few seconds Mr. Ratno had to run backwards because his hand was pulled by Mr. Ratno. However, next Mr. Ratno turned around and ran while held by his hand by Mr. Salihun heading to the rice field. The two old men arrived at the rice field in a state of excitement. They stopped his running after arriving in the middle of the paddy field.

“Kira-Kira ghost chasing here no, yes?” ask Mr. Ratno.

“Hopefully no, Rat! It's brighter here than there. The sun is coming up soon, Rat! No way ghosts dare to appear if there is sunlight,” replied Mr. Salihun trying to calm his friend and himself.

“But, is it true that what we saw just now is really a ghost?” said Mr. Ratno while sitting on the galengan.

“Come, Rat. But, ordinary humans want to enter the tomb area under such conditions?” replied Mr. Salihun while sitting also on the galengan.

“Yes too, anyway. Hopefully the figure does not follow us here,” replied Mr. Ratno.

“Iya, Rat,” replied Mr. Ratno while breathing.

For a few seconds the two of them were busy adjusting their gasps as they ran from the tomb. By the time they catch their breath, suddenly there is a sound of footsteps coming towards the two of them. Mr. Ratno and Mr. Salihun looked at each other with wide eyes as soon as they heard the sound of the roar of steps getting closer towards them. It seemed like the two of them were both frightened at that moment. The two of them were worried that it was the swift pace of the figure they had met just now in the burial area and chased them all the way to the rice fields.

“Hun ...,” whispered Mr. Ratno with trembling.

“Rat ...,” whispered Mr. Salihun also with a feeling of fear.

While the sound of the footsteps was getting closer to the two of them and this time the sound of the steps was right behind Mr. Ratno. The move came to a halt as soon as it got behind the cowardly old man.
