MARANTI (FOOD OF THE DEAD)

MARANTI (FOOD OF THE DEAD)
EPISODE 34

Mas Diki was still in Clara's room when from behind the curtain of the room next to her came the head of someone startling me.

"Astagfirullah!!!" I shouted in surprise.

"What's up, Brother?" I screamed at my husband while running towards me.

Mas Diki was no less surprised by me when he saw the frightening sight.

"Nduuuuk ...," called the old grandmother from the bottom. Apparently the old grandmother crawled out of her bed to get out.

"Ne-grandpa?" peeked at me after seeing the figure behind the curtain clearly.

I rushed down to help the old woman. Mas Diki swiftly helped me. We both pulled the old body back into the bed.

"Nduuuuk ..," said the old woman, lying on her bed. His breath was stinged perhaps because he exerted energy to get out of bed and crawl or suck out of the room.

"Grandma, calm down, yeah!" I said to the old woman.

The old grandmother also caught her breath. I fix the position of his hair that had fussed.

"Nduuuuk ...," said her mother-in-law Clara after her breath was not so hard in the morning.

"Yes, Grandma. What would Grandma say to us?" my many.

"Nduuk. Your-your son h-lost, huh?" ask the woman.

"Iya, Nek. Apa nenek tahu kemana perginya anak kami?" tanyaku dengan penuh harap.

"C-my grandson j-also h-lost, Nduk," he answered stammeringly.

"Riki's gone too?" I just don't believe it.

"Y-yeah, Nduk. C-clara k-out u-to m-look for d-and b-not yet k-back s-till s-now," the old grandmother answered stammeringly.

"Yes God! Where is Clara looking for Riki, Grandma?" aska I want to know.

"M-maybe C-clara m-seeked Riki in our old l-house r-house," replied the old granny again.

"Where is that, Grandma?" I asked again with growing curiosity.

"R-house l-long k-ami in d-near the market. T-fire r-house k-kami a-da in the middle of the s-awah-" replied the old granny making our foreheads frown.

"What does Grandma mean by Mr. Handoko's house?" cut husband.

Old grandma looked into my husband's eyes in surprise.

"You're k-enal and H-andoko?" ask the old grandmother.

"I once stayed at his house. Is Clara there right now?" said Mas Diki.

"Why, Grandma? Will our son and grandmother's grandchildren be used as a sacrifice?" I asked with a sob.

"Y-yeah, Nduk. M-alam i-this a-is m-night J-friday. M-night y-ang usually d-used o-by p-ria i-it u-to m-sacrifice n-nyawa k-to the s-steal," the grandmother emotionally chanted.

"Yes God! Mas, let's follow our son to Mr. Handoko's house, Mas!" take me to my husband.

"Yes, Brother. Come on, we should move immediately before it's too late" my husband replied with an anxious face.

"Sir, we went there first, huh? Sorry, we have to leave grandma alone here" I told the white-haired woman in front of me.

"Yes, Nduk. T-not a-what-a-what. T-please s-save my c-grandson j-also," ja2ab the granny.

"Sure, Grandma. We'll save them both" I replied.

We were both ready to leave the grandmother lying on the bed. I actually could not bear to leave the grandmother alone, but right now we both have to save the children first.

"Nduuk ...," called the old granny suddenly.

"What, Grandma?" I turned around and approached him.

"Bring this up, Nduk!" replied the old grandmother while giving something to my hand.

"What is this, Grandma?" I asked the old woman while cradling an object in the shape of a ball, rather small like a bekel ball.

"Bring the ball, Nduk. You will need the ball later" replied the old woman.

"What ball is this, Grandma?" I come back with curiosity.

"You'll know for yourself later, Nduk. At first the ball had two. One was already used by Clara" replied the grandmother.

"Claras?" I murmured while thinking about the mysterious woman.

"Hurry to go, Nduk. Don't delay any more. I apologize profusely to you and your husband because my presence here has disrupted the peace of your family" the grandmother said.

"Together, Grandma. We also apologize if all this time we have behaved poorly towards the grandmother of the family. This is all fate, Grandma. We do not blame the presence of grandmothers here as the cause of this calamity. We ask Grandma's prayers so that we can save our son and granddaughter" I replied as I hurriedly left the grandmother. For some reason when I touched the woman's hand, I felt that the grandmother's energy was getting weaker.

Mas Diki immediately pulled out his motorbike from inside the house. The two of us immediately went to Mr. Handoko's house. We could not lock our door. At that time we were completely unconcerned about the security of the property in our house because our most precious treasure, my son, was in danger. Even if all of our treasures collected over these years could be exchanged for Nur's safety, we were ready to accept them. But, for a drug offender, all they want is a human life. As for treasures, of course they will easily get after they managed to give the collateral requested by their lord. Naudzubillah ...

Along the way my mind was very agitated at the thought of Nur's fate. Mas Diki is the same as me, from the way he drives a motorcycle, I know that he is no less anxious. The motorbike we drove was speeding by splitting the pitch of the night. The cold weather that struck the bones no longer ignored us. It only took us a few seconds to get to the T-junction near Nur's school. When Mas Diki slightly braked at the fork, I turned to the Satpam post in front of Nur's school, maybe I could see Arman there for us to ask for help, but there was no one in Satpam's post. The bike we were driving turned to the left to continue the journey.

I remembered my dream again. And I also remembered Clara's story that the perpetrator of the assignment was her husband and foster father. I was confused, why in my dream, Mr. Handoko who threw me and my son into the abyss? Why not Clara's foster father? I've seen glimpses of Clara's adoptive father's face and his face is not the same as Mr. Handoko who was present in my dreams.
