Tommy Takes Nurul Home (revised)

Today they will spend the night in another area they will enter.  Nurul's premonition says that Tommy will take him to Jember where his partner used to be.  There was Sarah there, the woman Tommy was supposed to pick up that night, but Tommy was misdirected and picked up Nurul.

Tommy started another conversation.  They talk like new lovers do.  Each one was curious about all the secrets of his partner.  Nurul is not surprised to hear that Tommy was so lonely as a child, or that Tommy missed his mother so much even though he had treated Tommy cruelly.

Tommy's spirit is also seen when talking about political reform.  It made Nurul think that Tommy was a little different from him.  At the very least, Tommy was trying to understand the concerns of the common man.  Many of his equal partners, like Mr. Sudarsono, were completely oblivious to such things.

It was painful to hear about Tommy's closeness to Rudi.  It's obvious that Tommy would do anything for his best friend.  Rudi had helped her through the dark moments of her children.  It was sad for Nurul to think about how Tommy would hate her after Tommy learned that Rudi was supposed to be Icha's lover, something Mr. Sudarsono had hunted.

Nurul can't take that risk, he has to keep it a secret from Tommy.  Tommy attempts to direct the conversation to discuss Nurul's parents.  But Nurul rattled off the discussion by saying only a few short words about her mother's death.

Moments later throughout the day Nurul understood Tommy's intent when he said “they would stop to stay”.  Even though they stopped for a while, Nurul's chances of escaping were very small.  Tommy was more vigilant this time.

Nurul looked at Tommy, Tommy suddenly drowsy and fell asleep by leaning his head on the back of the chair.  How sweet Tommy sleeps.  Tommy's hair is very tangled, his hard face looks soft.  Tommy declares that he has no ability to love, but Nurul no longer believes him.

It may be difficult to make the man feel love, but the difficulty will make the feeling of love much more valuable when Tommy can feel it later.  Such a difficult treasure and had just been found.

If only Nurul could have stayed with Tommy to see that happen, love.  Nurul sighed, the bitter unease had ruined his peace.  They need to make sure they stop immediately.  He could no longer endure this uncertain waiting time.

Day by day passed.  Nurul awakens and looks at Tommy in their speeding car.  Tommy was fully awake and was sitting peeling an orange.  Nurul threw his gaze out the window.  This is not the area they should have been through.

“Tom?  How do we stop in Jember?” ask Nurul.  Tommy smiled and lifted and then crossed his legs casually.  Warning signs sounded in Nurul's mind.  He felt he had seen places that seemed familiar to him.  The great fear that suddenly dented him made his legs limp.

“Suramadu Bridge?” nurul.  “Kita.. we... “ said Nurul terggugup.  “I'll say we're getting married.  You ask where we are going, yes I answer we will go east,” said Tommy.

Awareness soon hit Nurul.  “You brought me home?” nurul.  Tommy looked at Nurul.  “Yes, I intend to do it right, I will propose to your father and we get married in front of him,” explained Tommy.

Nurul can only imagine what his father was thinking when they arrived and Tommy says that Tommy wants to marry Nurul.  How could Nurul explain to her father?  Although he can make up a number of stories about his sudden appearance with Tommy, he doubts that Tommy will keep his mouth shut about Nurul's disguise.  Oh no, it's very possible that's the reason Tommy took Nurul home.

In the end Nurul had to tell her father that her mother had killed herself by over-dosing on her homemade potion.  “No! It won't work!” nurul protest.  “If you take me home, I will say that I do not want to marry you.  Then you won't be able to continue all your plans!” nurul.

“My father knows everything,” lies Nurul.  “It won't solve anything,” he continued.  “He doesn't know, you're lying right?  I have a confidant who's been figuring out your and your father's relationship for as long as you're apart,” Tommy said.

Nurul's throat tightened, he no longer pretended to be relaxed.  “Tom, you promised.. “ said Nurul.   “I promise I won't talk to Sudarsono,’ replied Tommy.  Tommy set his foot on the floor as he leaned over to lock Nurul in with his sharp gaze.  “I didn't promise not to try to protect you any other way.  You have been drowned by a crazy man who tried to destroy you,” said Tommy.

“I don't want to just stand by watching it all happen.  Since you don't want to tell me the reason why Sudarsono forced you to go undercover and you didn't allow me to talk to him, you gave me no choice but to take you home.  That means all I have to do is talk to your father,” Tommy said.

“You will kill father,” hiss Nurul.  “You don't know what you're going to do!” continued.  “Then that is the case, make me understand!” said Tommy.

Nurul looked at Tommy's stubborn face, at the eyes that showed no mercy to Nurul.  The land of Madura they had jajaki, Nurul was shocked and imagined how if they reached Pamekasan.

Maybe if Nurul told Tommy about the reason for his disguise, it would satisfy Tommy.  Perhaps if Tommy knew the reason, he did not pressure Nurul to say the reason why Nurul agreed to Mr. Sudarsono's request.  However, of course after that Tommy will hate him because Nurul took part in playing his best friend, Rudi.  But, Nurul could not help but tell a story.

“Good,” whispered Nurul.  Tommy's eyes narrowed, as if trying to assess whether Nurul was really serious.  “This has something to do with Icha,” Nurul said.  “Icha?”  Tommy looks surprised.  Obviously, he never thought of that.

Nurul tells how Icha attempted to elope and how Mr. Sudarsono and Aunt Lupita had asked Nurul to be a spy and tried to find the man who had taken Icha away.  Nurul explains the reasons why he agreed to the plan, emphasizing his explanation of their plan.

Nurul finds out immediately when Tommy links his disguise to his best friend Rudi.  Straightening his seat, Tommy took the oath.  “Rudi is one of the men you suspect?  Not just Brian, but Rudi!  That is the reason why you are being so warm to Rudi.  That is the reason for the banquet in Bogor also in the gallery Rudi!” said Tommy.

The cold tone in Tommy's voice made Nurul close his arms tightly in front of his chest.  “Ya, Mr. Sudarsono even suspected you too, because you are his business rival,” Nurul said.

Tommy smashed his fist into the side of the car.   “I should have realized that all of this had to do with Rudi.  But, I let my jealousy towards Brian blind my eyes to see that fact,” Tommy said.

Tommy looked at Nurul.  “You've been spying on my best friend.  You know that Sudarsono will very likely destroy Rudi later if he knows that Rudi is a man who became the lover of Icha!” said Tommy.

“Destroying Rudi?  No, Tom!  Mr. Sudarsono said that he would offer anyone the man who escaped Icha money, or something that made him agree to leave Icha,”.

Tommy looked at Nurul with disgust.
