Solution From Tommy (revised)

“Bokah! you're not going to spread such a fairy tale!  That would humiliate Nurul too!” said Mr. Sudarsono.  “Yes, maybe at first.  But, will it be important again after she becomes my wife?” said Tommy.  As Mr. Sudarsono paled, Tommy added, “Yes, I intend to marry her and become more convinced now.  No one around me would dare say anything against my wife,” Tommy said.

“This may look like a big melodrama, complete with the villain.  Aunt Lupita can give an impression to her friends by saying what she knows behind the disguise so far.  And your name, Mr. Sudarsono, will be vilified every name is called,” said Tommy.

“Enough!”  Mr. Sudarsono was shaken where he stood, his face tinged with horror.  Nurul never saw the man look so helpless.  Losing his daughter as well as any possibility of revenge against the man who had taken his daughter away, Mr. Sudarsono looks withered and apathetic.  If not for everything he had inflicted on Nurul, Nurul would almost feel sorry for Mr. Sudarsono.

“Alright,” murmured Mr. Sudarsono.  “None of those said today will leak out of this room,” he said.  “Not enough!” furious Tommy.  “I don't want my wife forced to continue this lie,” Tommy said.  Tommy gave a fleeting smile to Nurul, which Nurul replied with all the love in his heart.

“Nurul doesn't like lies, and I don't want to disappoint him.  But you have made it known that she is the daughter of Aunt Lupita,” Tommy said.  Tommy folded his hands in front of his chest.  “So this is what we should do.  We're gonna roll out a story that turns this lie around.  Nurul, who cares for Icha, agrees to go undercover with the intention of finding Icha with the man who took her,”.

“It was an honorable effort, but this plan failed because I knew who Nurul was from the beginning.”.

When Mr. Sudarsono looks surprised, a sly smile adorns Tommy's face.  “You don't know about that, do you?  However, our story will say that I decided to help Nurul, as well as Rudi.  In the process, Nurul and I fell in love.  But, when Nurul finds out that the man who escaped Icha is a pesantren himself, the man detang to you.  You, as a man who is generous decided to accept the man of choice Icha as her husband,” said Tommy.

“No one will believe this fairy tale,” denied Mr. Sudarsono firmly.  “You are right,” Tommy replied.  “But it doesn't matter.  People will speculate about the real story and it will be the topic of conversation for weeks,”.

“But, with so many people involved, people outside of Siani will have a hard time finding fault because everyone participates in this disguise.  In addition, this disguise is done for the right reasons and ends happily, with two lovers united,” said Tommy.

Tommy spoke in a sarcastic tone.  “And since everyone is well behaved, a number of small mistakes can be ignored.  My wife and Aunt Lupita will be seen as respectable defenders of young lovers, and your daughter will be honored for her bold dedication independently to define her life and her partner,”.

“We should not forget to say that Icha's husband is a da’i.  The only thing I regret is that you will look like an easy-to-forgive saint,”.

Mr. Sudarsono gathered a bit of the rest from his cunning.  “If you think I should support your story so that Nurul can keep his reputation intact.” Mr. Sudarsono's remarks were cut off.

“Be careful, Brother!” Aunt Lupita warned her brother.  “Don't let your name be humiliated so is my name and I don't want to be a laughing stock at every dinner!” aunty Lupita said to Mr. Sudarsono.

Tommy raised his eyebrows.  “So, Mr Sudarsono?  Are we all willing to tell a story that is fun and does not hurt anyone at all?  This story is much better than you should have received.  But since other stories will have an impact on Nurul's destruction and I don't want to see him hurt further by you, it seems this story is the only option,”.

“Alright,” furious Mr. Sudarsono.  “But the five of you can continue this joke without me.  I'm going out of town.  Maybe there's still a chance I can stop my daughter from ruining her life,” said Mr. Sudarsono.  After saying that, Mr. Sudarsono rushed out of the room and called his driver.

Nurul vibrates.  He had a clear impression that Tommy would find a number of ways to make Mr. Sudarsono pay for everything he had done.  Nurul does not want to occupy that position now.

Tommy surprises Nurul as the man turns to his father.  “Can you support my story?  I know how much you strongly disagree to lie,” said Tommy.

“I fully want to tell you the true events,” replied Nurul's father.  As Tommy looks alert, he adds, “But the story is pretty easy to tell.  I don't know anything about any of this, just hearing the wind.  What can I say about what happened and did not happen while my daughter was in Jakarta?” said Nurul's father.

Nurul's father looked at Tommy with a judgmental gaze.  “But, first of all, I want to hear more from you and my daughter.  You have mentioned several times that you want to marry my daughter, but until a few minutes ago I did not even know that you knew her,” Nurul's father said.

Upon seeing Tommy's shock, Nurul's father quickly said, “Do not misunderstand me.  I am so grateful for your intervention today.  I cannot handle Mr. Sudarsono so well alone,”, Nurul's father said.

Nurul's father pulled Nurul closer.  “However, I myself feel confused and a little anxious over your interest in my daughter,” Nurul's father said.

“This is not a strange thing,” explained Tommy.  “I first met your daughter during the Quran event in Jember a few years ago.  Then, when he was in Jakarta, we met often,” said Tommy.  Tommy's voice softened.  “And I fell in love with my daughter,” he said.

The word appeared again.  Love's.  That's one thing to be said in front of Mr. Sudarsono, but Tommy doesn't have to do it in front of Nurul's father.  “Tommy, you don't need..” cut Nurul.

Tommy cuts off Nurul's speech before he says “hide”.  “The only problem is I've said it, but he hasn't received me, sir,” Tommy said.

Nurul can't believe this.  A young conglomerate, Tommy, he's standing there, it looks awkward and uncertain like the attitude of the men who came to apply for a second marriage proposal and feel unsure of the answer he received.

Tommy looks at Aunt Lupita with Rudi, who is eager to provide support.  Then Tommy nervously looked at Nurul's father.  “I know this is a serious request.  But, may I ask for a moment to talk to Nurul?  After that I will feel more steady to answer all questions Mr.” said Tommy..

When her father hesitates, Nurul kisses her hand.  “Nurul please, Sir,” Nurul said.  “Alright,” muttered his father, “But just a few minutes,” continued Nurul's father.  He let go of Nurul and began to walk away, then paused to look at Tommy with an attentive gaze.

“Nurul, I am sincere for every word I say to your father.  I've been gripped by real terror for the last two days, thinking that you don't want to marry me.  The thought that I would lose you made my stomach shake and my blood stir.  Ilove you.  Well, I've said it.  Now please, release me from this suffering and tell me you are willing to marry me,”.
