"Eh, don't you guys smell this?" asked Rayi while moving her nose. We stopped and started doing the same thing as Rayi.
"Yes, the smell of mud!"
I stared at the clock on my wrist. Not even midnight yet. The sun just sunk about two hours ago. I glanced at the door of the tent that we had closed since then, mosquitoes would rush in if we did not close. Brother Rayi called out to me, as if preventing my actions. "It's okay, brother. I just want to check," I said and continued my intention.
The three of them stayed in place. I began to peek out of the small window that was in front of me right now. The outside looks quiet. Moreover, we are all silent a thousand languages. I'm sure they're starting to get scared, just like I am now.
"Bil ...," call Kak Bintang. I turned my head, widening my smile, so that they would not be too anxious. "Fine is it." But when I looked back out of the tent, someone's face was suddenly in front of our tent. I backed off and fell backwards. Brother Rayi ran closer, as well as Brother Star and Brother Roger. "Why, Bil?" ask Rayi.
I was still glued to the small window above, continuing to look at him with a frightened face. Brother Roger and Brother Star hesitantly looked out the tent. They held each other and slowly approached.
"There's nothing, Bill," said Kak Bintang.
"Yes. There's nothing. What did you see?" asked Roger, adding.
I gulped, trying to neutralize my unreasonable breath. "Tadi ... I saw Mr. Faza in front," I explained slowly.
"Well! The real! Why didn't you say?!" cetus Roger's brother then unzipped the tent.
"Sister, no!" prevent me from spontaneous.
Brother Roger's hand, which had not fully opened the door, stopped. He looked over with a frown. "Why?"
"That's not Brother Faza!"
"What time?" tanyakanya. He peeked back from his front window, and his eyes flashed sharply. I'm sure he saw what I saw. In a hurry, Roger closed the zipper again. He looks nervous and scared. To the extent that Kak Bintang was confused, and came to look out the tent. "God! The faza!" his screams.
Bintang was about to reopen the tent, but Roger prevented it. "Crazy, lu! Want to find your dead, Tang?!"
"That's Faza, right?"
"No! Don't you see that weird face?! That's not Faza, ****!" sis Roger and start to move away from the door. Brother Star who was still in doubt, peeked back from the window. But suddenly he fell backwards just like I did. Brother Bintang continues to curse annoyed. And the four of us were already shaking.
"Let me check" said Brother Rayi, but I held his hand while shaking. "It's okay, Bill. We need to know who and what he really wants." My hand was gently released by Brother Rayi, and he began to approach with hesitation.
Waiting for Kak Rayi's reaction made me tense, but he just brought his head closer to the window. Both of his eyes also narrowed as if he was looking at something a bit far from his sight. "Sister, look what?" manya curious.
"That's Faza isn't it, is it?" point it out with a question directed at the three of us. Of course we are curious and come closer to Brother Rayi. Now the figure we were afraid of was near the lake. He stood there staring at the dark lake.
"Duh, confuse me. He's Faza, isn't he? If that was in front of the tent, the original face was very sleek. Yeah, right, Bil?" ask Roger to me. I just nodded because what he said was true.
"How serious? We're samperin don't do anything?" ask the Star.
Before we gave an answer, suddenly Kak Faza threw himself into the lake. We panicked and opened the door immediately. Run towards the lake. Silent. The dark lake made it difficult for us to see the bottom. "Lushlight!" pinta Kak Rayi, and Kak Bintang immediately ran back to the lake. Take a few flashlights to light up the place. One by one we got a flashlight, and started searching to the bottom of the lake.
"Not seen!" brother Roger said, and indeed his words were true.
"Duh, do we have to go inside?"
"Lunatic you! Fell like this. Oh, No!"
"How come?"
All were silent, I was as confused as they were. It felt strange, because I didn't see where Brother Faza was. But suddenly I remembered the words of Om Gio. "You can control your own inner eye, Bill."
And that's when I understood, there was something wrong with this situation. I started to concentrate, and tried to calm down. I closed my eyes to get what I wanted. The visions. Indeed, all this time I can occasionally see the subtle creatures that roam around me, it's just that I more often refuse to be able to see them because I feel very disturbed. And all this time 'they' who approach or appear is only a lost spirit that is just passing by, not intended to disturb or intend evil. And what we're dealing with right now is an evil spirit. Something dark and bad is taking over this place. Which makes some people disappear mysteriously, until finally this place is so feared.
My body began to warm up, like there was heat coming out of my own body. Until I finally opened my eyes. Now the surroundings look different. In front of me now there are many spirits wandering around. They are confused, desperate, and lost. My body was limp, but Kak Riyi who was at the side immediately held me. "Bil, are you okay?" tanyanya.
My head feels full of sounds. Kak Rayi's voice, and the voices of 'them' who are asking for help. My vision began to blur, but I tried to stay conscious, not to faint. I kept trying to find out where Brother Faza was.
"Yes, Rayi! The star! Roger!" This voice continues to sound clearer. Kak Faza's voice, he kept calling his friends. I tried to close my eyes to get my vision back clear. I'm trying to figure out where Kak Faza's voice came from. Until finally, I saw it. Brother Faza was among the spirits in front of us. The three of them could not see what I saw. But they looked panicked to see me who didn't speak. Indeed, my mouth feels muddy, as if I am not powerful even just to call the name of one of them.
"When?!" brother Rayi's screams that now shake my body a little hard. I felt like I was waking up, and looking back at him. "Why you?" he asked with strange eyes. I pointed at another corner, and called out the name of Kak Faza.
"You sure?" ask Rayi. I nodded, we walked towards Kak Faza, he seemed to be showing me the way and I followed him with the three of them. Fearfully, I tried to break through the crowd of curious spirits that were all around us. Maybe for Brother Rayi, Brother Roger and Kak Bintang my attitude looks strange, but if they can see the figure around us, I am sure they will behave the same as me.
"Bil, where are you going? Still far?" ask Roger who looks tired.
"There, brother," pointed me towards Kak Faza stopping. I immediately ran and approached the place where Kak Faza's spirit was silent. He looked down with a sad look. Not a word came out of his mouth, his face looked pale and his body was drenched. And when we got to that place, we were quite surprised, because we saw a dark hole. There are some footholds and handles that seem to be made to go up and down. Kak Faza's spirit was just silent as it stared down, as if this was like a sign that something was there.
"Bil, why are we here?" ask the Star. I'm still glued to the dark hole below us.
"Ughh! Smell of mud again!" scream Roger's brother while covering his nose.
"Sir Faza is all around us, he keeps looking over there," I explained pointing to the place. Everyone was silent with their own thoughts. Sure, they think the same as me, but I'm sure they hesitate to do that.
"Yes, let me same star down." The phrase Kak Rayi made me and Kak Roger stare at the two people alternately. "Seriously you?!" asked Brother Roger somewhat surprised. Brother Rayi nodded while turning to look at Kak Bintang asking for his approval. And, finally, Kak Bintang nodded resignedly. They're getting ready and coming down. Of course use adequate equipment, flashlights and ropes.
Before descending, Brother Rayi turned to me, "be careful, Bil. Roger, take care of Nabila. Be careful if you find out why," he said a little threatening.
"Yes, take your shit. Aman Nabila is with me."
Kak Bintang went down first, while Kak Rayi followed behind him. I'm just squatting down near that hole. Honestly, I was worried, and afraid that something bad might happen to them. The cold began to puncture the bones, naturally when the night came the air would be more bone-chilling, because during the day also the fog had appeared.
"It's cold, huh, Bil?" asked Roger while hugging his own arm. He was wearing a thick sweeter. I also felt what he said, only I was too focused on the two people who were down there.
"But strange? Why, yes, in this place it can be this cold. This is not a mountainous area. Usually I can get cold if I go up the mountain, just really cold like gini. But this is lowland. Aye, right? Time because of the lake? Or forests?"
I kept quiet and confirmed again the words of Brother Roger. It makes me quite curious, what is going on in this place. The fog? It's chilly? I focused more and more, really focused on what was around me. I closed my eyes, because this way I would usually find things that might be missed.
Now the situation that was initially quiet, more and more crowded. It even feels so noisy. It was as if there were a lot of people here. I dare to open my eyes. Until finally I was really surprised to see the condition of this place in a different perspective.
On the lake I saw many spirits. They are just like the spirits that were near the tent. But in the lake much more. Even if I pay attention again, the thin fog I've seen since I came is 'them'. Well, the spirits are on the lake. And I'm sure this cold is coming from them, too. An unusual and strange cold.
I went to see how far and how many of these creatures were. And this just makes me dumbfounded because they completely filled the whole place. Not only in the lake, but also in the surrounding forest. The lake is like a magnet. The aura there looked extremely strong and made many spirits drag onto it.
"Geez," I muttered as I stared at the entire place.
"Oh my goodness what? Bil?" asked Roger while he brought himself closer to me. He looks at all the places you look, but keeps showing a confused face. "God! You see what?!" axed it.
"Sister, what you said earlier is true."
"On the strangeness of this place. Why is it so cold and foggy here, but not on a mountain."
"Okay, so because of what?"
"Here full of the same fine creatures, brother. Even the fog that was in the lake, actually it was because of the sheer number of them there. This cold is not entirely due to nature. But 'they'."
"Huh, Crazy! Seriously lu?"
"Yes. In the lake like there is a strong pull, which makes the delicate creatures approach. But that must be evil."
"Keep how, Bil?"
"Something seems to tie 'em' and make all these creatures can't go."
"What dong?"
I kept quiet, kept looking for anything weird or anything that might lead me to the source of this problem. And my eyes stopped on someone. He was standing in the middle of the lake, his other appearance than the others made me sure, if he was different.
"Sister, if I don't come back in 10 minutes, wake me up. Whatever the way, anyway Brother Roger should wake me up!" my word.
"dither. Bentar.you mean what the hell? Not back? Where are you going? Keep awake? Huh uh?! I don't know Nabila!"
I didn't answer, because there was no time. Now I sit down cross-legged, and start meditating. I don't know if it's gonna work or not, because I've never done this before. I've only heard from Mr. Dio, Papa's driver. If you want to face a subtle creature, it cannot be done in the usual way. They are subtle, and I have to face them the same way. I have to let go of my spirit, and fight it. There are many books I have read about making money. And now it's time for me to practice it.
All the words of Brother Roger I ignored, because I had to do it. I began to close my eyes, and needed high concentration, until slowly the voice of Brother Roger sounded faint. It kept me awake because I was worried that something might happen to her.
But when I opened my eyes and stood up, Brother Roger squatted down while inviting others to talk, when I turned my head apparently it was my body. And the sign is that I've succeeded this way. Releasing the spirit and entering the supernatural world, makes me dizzy now. My head is heavy especially with a lot of noise from these creatures. They screamed and cried, even roared for help. My relationship was won and I was cornered. As long as I got more and more caught off guard, I was tired, and sick of their treatment. I closed my head, and screamed out loud. Suddenly they disappeared with a light that instantly dimmed within seconds.
It feels more quiet. And now it's just me and the man on the lake. We were quite far away, but I could see that he had great strength. Honestly, I don't know what to do now.
"Their lives are almost the same as ours, which is why many people say that we live side by side with them. So their types are also different. There is good, there is evil. And usually the strong are the old ones, hundreds or even thousands of years." I remember what Mr. Dio said when I asked him supernatural things, he was an indigo and had long been used to this. And I really like to talk to her about things like this.
"What's the most powerful, sir?"
"Many, Neng. One of them is Bathara kala. So we call it. In Hinduism, Kala is the son of Lord Shiva, the god of time (the word kala comes from Sanskrit, which means time). The god Kala is often symbolized as a creepy-faced rakshasa, hardly resembling a God. In Hindu philosophy, Kala is a symbol that no one can go against the law of karma. When it is time for someone to leave the mortal world, then at that time Kala will come to pick him up. If anyone insists on living long on his own will, he will be destroyed by Kala. Therefore, Kala's face is very scary, it is forcing everyone."
"Don't she ..." My inner.
As if understanding as I was thinking, the man approached. With the drifting path. Do not touch the water even 1 centimeter.
"Do you want to be here?!" he asked with a heavy voice and shook my body.
"Sorry, we're just going to pick up our friend. No more than that."
"Everyone in this place is mine! Can't be taken anymore!"
I gulped, and was confused as to what else to say. This is the first time I've ever met a creature of Bathara. Creatures that become a myth of the occurrence of lunar eclipses.
"But I thought, you took their souls by force?! And it doesn't feel like it can, does it?"
She's quiet. I wonder why I can say that too. Because what I thought, the disappearance of Kak Faza and the others was indeed strange. Especially seeing the many spirits in this place. Earlier. Ah, yes, that was a lot and now where are they?
I swept my eyes around, and just realized that they were completely gone.
"Why? You're astonished? It's not you who kicked them out?!"
I looked back at him sharply, apparently he could read my mind so I had to be more careful.
"And, it feels like they shouldn't be here, right? So why are you holding their spirits in this place?!" tanyaku.
"It's none of your business!"
"Of course it's my business. Because one of the souls you took money from is my friend! I'm not gonna let that happen."
"Because they're all gone, then you're in exchange!"
"Don't hope!" I turned around, and tried to get back into my body. But suddenly my shoulder was pulled by him. Hot and sick. It's like a burning sensation if his hand touches me. I automatically scream and thrash. Surprisingly he bounced far away.
"The bill! Marginalize! Wake up!" brother Roger's voice was clearly heard near my ears.
And without me knowing it, I was back inside my body. With Brother Roger beside me and seeing me panic.
"Thank God!" he said he just sat on the ground.
"Why?" the question came out of a voice we knew. Brother Rayi. He appeared carrying Kak Faza and Kak Bintang behind them.
"The square!" scream Brother Roger, happy. He looked very happy to see his friend found.
Brother Faza was just silent, smiling with a pale face. But I'm sure, he's the real Brother Faza.
"Where are you?" ask Brother Roger.
"So under a lot of decayed human bodies. But luckily we quickly found Faza. Otherwise, maybe he has the same fate as the others," explained Kak Bintang.
"It looks like we should call the police. To have the corpse properly buried."
Things are back to good. And the air around us seemed to be warmer than before. I smiled as I looked at the condition of this place that was different from before. Although I do not know where the evil creature went, but I hope he no longer restrains the soul of the human soul in an evil way anymore.
We decided to go back to the tent. Because Brother Faza has been found, and of course we need a break. I also feel very tired.
The three men walked first, Brother Faza only laughed as Brother Roger and Kak Bintang flagged him. Rayi and I walked behind them. But suddenly Brother Faza stopped and turned to me.
"Thank you, yeah. They're all free now, thanks to you."
"Huh? Uh, yes," I said surprised by the sentence that arrived.
The three friends just looked at me and Brother Faza took turns. "Duh, I'm a laper. Is there food?" ask Kak Faza and make Kak Roger and Kak Bintang embrace him again. Dribbling into the tent.
"Bil, what do you do when I'm not around?" ask Rayi curious.
I smiled, then shook my head. We followed the three of them who had arrived at the tent. I'm hungry too, I hope there's food for me too. Ah, so tired today.
