The Pledge of the Ingkar

The Pledge of the Ingkar
IYI 75'S

One day before.

"Honey, can you have someone keep an eye on William? My gut feeling is bad" Wulan told her husband after William left.

Wulan feels that William's departure without telling Zoya will bring changes to her child's marriage. The middle-aged woman just wants both of them to get along and trust each other, not only does Zoya do both things, but also William who is sometimes still worried about his own feelings.

As a mother, Wulan quite understands her son who harbors more of his own feelings after having an accident and losing the figure of Renata from the man's life. So even though William did not say the problem directly, Wulan could tell his son's feelings just by paying attention to his behavior.

Rian nodded and immediately granted his wife's request. The middle-aged man contacted a loyal subordinate of his then gently patted Wulan's hand.

"My subordinate is following William. He'll give us a report later."

Wulan nodded, clasping Rian's hand between her hands tightly.

The couple did not speak while waiting for answers from Rian's men. Their house seems lonely because of that, especially because Zoya is in the gallery to check the work of her employees during her stay with William.

"Yes, how?"

Rian left Wulan while receiving a call from someone who had been waiting for him. Wulan looked at her husband and could only hear the middle-aged man's deheman and his sighs. Not long after, Rian returned to the sofa to sit down with her.

"What's he saying?" asked Wulan while reaching back for Rian's hand.

Rian shook his head, looking gloomy with the news he had to tell Heni. "Wulan works in the office to solve problems as she says, but ... Renata then came," he said slowly.

"The diamonds come to the office?"

Wulan repeated Rian's words in disbelief. How could the woman have the courage to visit William after two years in hiding, without accompanying her son who was depressed and paralyzed by it, and after leaving to receive money from him? After he recovered, he just came.

"Is it true that Renata came to William's office?" ask Wulan again.

Before knowing Renata's true nature, Wulan was quite fond of Renata who was considered to have a kind and warm nature in everyone. William seemed happy with her. A part of Wulan still holds on to that past, but it soon disappears once Rian grabs his phone back.

Rian showed the photos his subordinates had sent as evidence. The two immediately recognized the front of William's apartment building and it was clear that the figure who had disappeared had returned, the woman was Renata who seemed hesitant to see their son. "He really is Renata."

Wulan was shocked to see the photo so well. The woman's body temperature quickly increased and was limp on the sofa, lacking the strength to face the reality she had just seen. Her fear of Zoya being dumped by William, and Renata's return to her son's side soon haunts Wulan's mind.

"Wulan, dear .. This is just a photo and some reports from my subordinates, we don't know the whole reality yet," comforted Rian as he gently grabbed Wulan's hand.

Wulan. Just hearing that Renata is alive and coming back into William's life obviously makes Wulan anxious, because there is a good chance that William still has deep feelings for his former fiancee. And imagining they would meet, Wulan was really scared, and had a bad effect on his condition.

Rian awakens from his daydream that answers Zoya's question about what really happened to Wulan. Zoya, who did not get an answer from Rian, repeated her question.

"Why can Mama be like this?" ask Zoya again.

The two were staring at Wulan who was lying down with gasping breath, unaware of the presence of Rian and Zoya who were worrying about her condition. Before the woman went to the gallery, Wulan still looked healthy despite being a bit lethargic. Eats when they had breakfast were still spent, so the condition of his mother-in-law should not be like this suddenly.

Zoya receives a soft pat on her arm before Rian steps away. The woman then stepped closer to Wulan's bed and gently touched her forehead, not wanting to wake her mother-in-law up all of a sudden.

Unfortunately, Wulan woke up as soon as Zoya's hand was lifted off her forehead.

"Zoya?" ask Wulan lirih.

Zoya clasped Wulan's hands still flat on her bed, rubbing them slowly to give a calming effect. "Yes, Mommy. I'm right here."

Wulan blinked softly and looked at Zoya for quite a while. The woman let it go because Wulam might not be fully aware of his sleep, but her mother-in-law's words suddenly made him feel touched.

"Mommy may have said this to you too often, but .. everything is right, I'm very happy that you're by William's side as long as he's not okay until now. Even you wouldn't mind staying with us now, instead of being alone with William or near your gallery."

Zoya shakes. "Mama don't have to thank me. I just did what I had to do as a wife and daughter-in-law, as well as my own wishes as a member of your new family."

Wulan returned Zoya's grasp tightly, not expecting that the daughter-in-law in front of her was so mature in the problems she was facing. Old age seems to affect Wulan in processing the events of William and Renata and make her more emotional than usual.

"Actually, what makes Mama like this? Please tell me so I can understand."

Zoya said that because she saw Wulan was very sad and in a state of fever, her tears remained in the woman's eyes that had been wrinkled, causing a teary effect that held her sadness.

Wulan. "Nothing, I just feel a little dizzy."

Hearing Wulan's words, Zoya concludes that her mother-in-law is lying, but she says nothing about it and begins to treat the fever that the middle-aged woman is suffering from.

Zoya accompanies and takes care of Wulan very well, before walking out so that Wulan can rest. There, Rian was already waiting for him.

"Go back to your house, Zoya."

"What's up, Pa? What about Mama?" asked Zoya who was shocked by Rian's sudden request.

"I can't tell you anything, but this is about William."

"William?"

Rian decides that Zoya and William must solve the problem themselves. Although Wulan did not have the heart with the pain that Zoya might feel, but this does need to be done by the couple so as not to get worse in the future.

"Tell me! What's wrong with William, Pa?" ask Zoya.
