Chapters 144. Complicated

"Let me open, you just go up to your room and rest" Duke Geraldine told Liliana, who was climbing the stairs leading to her room.

"All right dad." Liliana smiled.

Who knocks at the door this night?

Duke Geraldine opened the door, and she saw Max standing in front of her. The middle-aged man immediately bowed respectfully in front of King Istvan.

"Lilly!" regardless of the duke Geraldine greeting him, Max instead called Liliana while barging into the house.

"Your majesty"

Max sees Liliana climbing the stairs, Max catches up with her. "Your majesty! Why are you here?" asked Liliana with wide eyes.

"I want to talk to you."

I can't just let all this stuff drag on.

"We talked, so what else do we want to talk about?" asked Liliana who was still standing on the stairs.

"The problem won't be solved if we don't speak properly. We talked in the heat of the moment, so we need to talk again."

He won't stop until he gets what he wants. I'd rather talk to him than he's here till morning.

"Haaahhh." Liliana sighed, finally allowing Max to talk to her.

Liliana and Max were in the living room together, Duke Geraldine purposely left the two of them there to talk. "Your majesty, what do you want to talk to me about again?"

"Don't talk formally like that Lily" Max said with a bitter smile looking at the woman sitting in front of him.

"I would be considered impolite if I spoke informally" he explained politely.

"But we're both, it's okay if you talk informally to me." Max doesn't mind and he looks uncomfortable because Liliana is talking formally to him.

"I'm afraid your majesty isn't comfortable, if I speak informally."

Max looked at Liliana with a glare in his eyes. "True, I'm uncomfortable and you're not comfortable either. Formal talk like this makes us feel like strangers, even though we love each other. Don't you?"

"You're very confident, your majesty. Loving you is just my past." Liliana did not dare to speak while looking at Max.

Max's heart is pierced by a sharp object, when Liliana tells him that she does not love him anymore. Even though he knew the woman was lying, he still loved her.

"All right, let's not talk about this first. My arrival here is to start a contract relationship with you." Max looked seriously at Liliana.

"Contract relationship?" ask Liliana to Max.

Liliana's eyes were rounded. "What kind of words is this noble? Are you making a joke with me?!" asked Liliana in a high voice.

"How dare you raise your voice to me! I am the king of your birthplace! Are you going against my authority?!" Max uses a stern way to get Liliana back to him.

"Please forgive me, your majesty, for I have been disrespectful. I refuse your noble request!" Liliana grumbled, she lowered her head and apologized to Max.

"I'll forgive you if you sign our contract marriage!" Max smiled with a grin.

"Why should I do that?" Liliana did not understand what the man meant by marrying a contract.

You won't be able to force me Maximilian.

"You're the only one who deserves to be the first lady of Istvan's kingdom, you're familiar with the country's work, social duties and everything else. And you too...."

You are also the woman I love very much. This word is only spoken in Max's heart.

"Hahahaha.funny. I'm sorry, your majesty, but I find this very funny. How can a woman who has been dishonorably divorced, re-marry her husband and become empress? Does that make sense?" Liliana let out a bitter laugh, the inside of her heart was still injured because of Max who divorced her by force and his own decision.

Liliana managed to make Max silenced, she also moved from her seat. "Your highness, it's already night. Your woman must have been waiting for you at the palace." Silently, Liliana expelled Max.

"Only you dare to drive the King away" said Max, bowing his head in disappointment.

"And only the noble one can break my heart" Liliana said with a bitter smile.

It's going to be harder for us to get back together.

"I'll take you back, once the woman's problems are over. That way, you won't reject me anymore, will you?" the King Istvan asked as he looked at Liliana with teary eyes.

"Every word of yours can always hurt me, Liliana's great." Max looks annoyed with the words of Liliana who always insinuates him.

Liliana escorted Max to her doorstep, when Max was about to ride his horse. He turned back to Liliana. "What's wrong?"

"How do you know the king of Gallahan?" max asked curiously because Aiden said he knew Liliana.

"That's none of your business." replied Liliana cuek.

"I'm not leaving until you tell me. You know, I'm a stubborn man just like you." Max stared at Liliana sharply.

"We are friends" Liliana replied in the end.

"What's? You're friends with him?!" Max doesn't believe Liliana's words.

Befriends? Is that true? Why would I doubt?

"Hurry back, your majesty!" Said Liliana who was starting to get upset by the presence of the man.

As Max rode his horse, he returned to Gallahan's palace where he was staying. In front of the palace where she was staying, Julia was there and looked like she was waiting for him. He's with his ladyboy.

"Your Majesty, have you come? I've been waiting for you from earlier." Julia said with a smile welcoming the arrival of Max.

Max doesn't answer Julia, but she seems annoyed that she was forced to dance with Julia in front of everyone. The man just walked past Julia.

Julia held Max's hand and Max quickly shook her hand. "Your Majesty, I think we've become closer!"

"You really are a shameless woman, if not for your father who has contributed to this country. I wouldn't want to get close to you, I'm disgusted at a woman like you..." Max stared hard at Julia.

"Your majesty, why are you talking to me like this?" Julia looks like she's about to cry.

Max is increasingly resentful and dislikeful of Julia's attitude, who always uses tears to get her cornered. Julia was just like her father, they were still obsessed with being members of the royal family. And because Freya's support was still strong, they dared to arbitrarily to Max who incidentally was a King.

"Don't cry like that, it's just me. No one's gonna see you like you were at the party!" max said firmly.

"Your majesty...I really don't understand, why are you treating me like this??" Julia blushes.

Max goes into his castle, he asks the guards not to let Julia in. Julia walked back to the palace where she was staying, she was with her servant.

"God! He still sells me dearly, what are the advantages of the woman until the noble king is so infatuated with her? I don't understand." Julia muttered in annoyance.

"The former Crown Princess cannot be compared to the noble one!"

"really right? I am more than anything, beautiful, smart, and hereditary, but why does the king always ignore me!" Julia's grumbling is upset.

At Gallahan's palace, Aiden was with his mother in the dugout. The two were still chatting warmly after the party.

"Aiden, tell mom? How could the woman have left the party before mom saw her? She's shy or what?!" asked the Queen Mother who was very curious about the figure of the woman who was always talked about by Aiden.

"Mother, can you just go back to the silver palace? It's night, mom, I should be sleeping now." Aiden is upset that his mother is there and keeps asking about Liliana.

*The silver palace is the place where Gallahan's queen mother lives*

"No! I don't want to leave until you give me an explanation! That woman, did she leave because she knew about your illness? Or is there another?" the Queen Mother asked while looking suspiciously at her son.

"Not so, mother." replied Aiden while holding his head.

"Then why didn't he come?" ask the Queen Mother to her son.

"Mother, she's coming to the party.it's just that mom didn't see her. When she came, she was going somewhere."

"really? I thought he wasn't coming! Then why did he just leave? Is there something you're doing to her?"

"Mother, please don't think anything." Aiden looks sad and moping.

This was really complicated, Liliana was a former crown princess and she had previously been married to King Istvan. What's even more complicated is that I haven't told her how I feel.

"Looking at your face, it looks like you're fretting. What's the matter my son? Tell your mother this, will you?" ask the queen mother to her child, she wants to know what makes her child restless.

The queen mother left the King's palace, she was ushered in by Dorman and came at his feet. The queen mother asked Dorman about Liliana, but Dorman did not answer her because of a promise to Aiden.

"If you can't answer my question, can you please present an invitation for her?" ask the queen mother.

"Invitation?" Dorman.
