Chapter 66. Invitation to the palace
Liliana was surprised by the special invitation of the future crown princess she received from the Queen. Though she never intended to be a crown princess, she just wanted a pure relationship with normal order without having to plunge into politics and full of intrigue.
I don't have any qualifications to be a candidate for the crown princess, with my identity as Liliana. How could the Queen send this to me? Did Maximilian do it?
Liliana recalled her late mother once saying that connecting with courtiers would not be good. Immediately after receiving an invitation from the Queen's palace, Liliana went to the palace's government office to meet with her father and talk about this.
A few minutes later after the ride on a horse-drawn carriage. Liliana arrived at the office where her father worked. He saw some people there were busy with their respective tasks.
"Sorry lady, who are you looking for?" ask a man in neat clothes and clean white skin. The man spoke in a friendly voice.
"I'm sorry, my presence has disturbed you. I want to see his highness Duke Geraldine" Liliana said as she lowered her head politely in front of the noble.
"No miss! You're not bothering at all. So miss wants to meet your highness the Duke? Let's follow me, your Highness the Duke is in another building" the man said kindly.
He drove Liliana to the building where Duke Geraldine was. Liliana was very grateful to the man, for showing him the way.
"Greetings dad, good day!" liliana said hello to the father who was sitting in the chair.
"Siang Lily.. Why are you here? Is there anything urgent?" duke Geraldine asked as she moved from her seat. He approached Liliana who was carrying a letter in her hand.
"Yes dad, there's an urgent matter. And I need you to decide" Liliana said with a deep look.
"Well, Lily, sit down first!" he told Liliana.
"Thank you father and forgive me for coming here unannounced" Liliana said, then she sat down on the chair.
"If it's urgent, you don't have to apologize." Duke Geraldine smiled warmly.
Never did Liliana/Adaire feel this close to her father in the past. After all the storms, Liliana could be close to Duke Geraldine. Especially after the problems of Adara and Arsen.
Liliana directly showed the letter from the palace to Duke Geraldine. The middle-aged man saw her, he was dumbfounded. "Do you know Her Majesty?" duke Geraldine asked with widened eyes looking at Liliana who was sitting opposite him

I know Laura's daughter and the crown prince, but I don't know the queen.
"Then why this invitation.." Duke Geraldine stared intently at the Queen's stamp invitation
We mustn't... Lily can't be involved with the royal family. His life will be heavy there even though he is only a candidate for the crown princess, let alone he comes from the lower classes. He would be surprised. What is the purpose of His Majesty doing this?
"Dad? Is dad okay?" asked Liliana astonished to see the father who daydreamed.
"Ah yes?" Duke Geraldine looked back at Liliana.
"Dad, what should I do? Isn't this a word?" ask Liliana.
"Truely this is the edict that came down directly from Her Majesty, you will not be able to reject it. Rejection of the royal family is tantamount to insubordination" Duke Geraldine said.
"So I can't turn him down?" Liliana pretended not to know.
Yeah, I know that too. But I have to show that I am from the lower classes, so that my father does not suspect my identity.

Just as Max was thinking about the woman he loved, Eugene's arrival brought news concerning Liliana. Eugene said that the King and Queen had already determined the future crown princess, even sending an invitation letter to her candidates.
"Miss Liliana is on the list" said Eugene.
Max was stunned to hear Eugene's words. Either he should be happy or worried about this news. Max is even suspicious of what it means that the Queen put Liliana's name in it. Does he know that Liliana is close to him?
"Why can? Pierre.what can I do"
"I'm sorry, your majesty, you can't leave before you finish all these documents, I'll check every detail."
"AH!! Shit!" the crown prince of the Istvan kingdom let out an annoyed sigh.
"Your Majesty, you are forbidden to curse!" Pierre reminded Max firmly, that he should not swear.
"All right.all right.I'll finish this and go" said Max, holding back his annoyance.
Max can't leave before his job is done, so he writes a letter to Liliana. Eugene was the one who delivered the letter.
"Deliver this letter to her" Max said to Eugene, handing Eugene a letter.

"Sorry, your majesty, you can send blackey to send the letter. But why would you send a letter through siren Eugene, wouldn't it be visible?"
"Haha..are you stupid Pierre? If they want to see it, let them see it. It's even better" Max said with a grin. "Go Eugene!"
"Okay noble," Eugene bowed half his body. Then he stepped away from the palace.

On the way out of the palace, Eugene sees Princess Laura walking in the flower garden with Annie, his servant. Laura was watering the flowers there.
"Your Majesty, let me water it" Annie said. "If Her Majesty sees this, what will her Majesty say? Please your majesty.do not do this.."ask Annie to Laura to stop her activities.
"My mom won't know that you didn't talk to her. You don't have to help me water this flower, you just help me plant another plant" Laura said with a bright smile.
Princess Laura is the most beautiful girl I have ever met in my life. But I can't have you. And we can't possibly be together.
Laura sensed that someone was staring at her, she stopped her activity of watering the flowers. He glanced to the left right in the hallway of the palace, he saw the figure of a sturdy burly man with his charming-looking blonde hair. He was Eugene, the head of the black knight who was now the bodyguard of the crown prince.
Their eyes met and stared at each other, before long Eugene immediately turned his face away. He hurried away, avoiding Laura's gaze.
"Sir Eugene!" Laura called Eugene with her title. That made Eugene unable to dodge or evade.
Eugene halted his steps, he turned around and approached Laura obediently.
"Good afternoon princess" she said to Laura.
"You were supposed to greet me without me telling you to, when you saw me. But you just walked right past me?"
"I'm sorry for my noble irreverence, next time I will-"
"Enough! You can't just apologize for your mistake" Laura said, crossing her arms around her chest.
Eugene was flabbergasted to hear it, "Then what should I do your majesty?"
"To make amends, you have to help me clean up the weeds in my garden!" Laura's word to Eugene
"Now?"
"Of course, tomorrow?" Laura stared intently at the man who had captivated her heart long ago.
"I'm sorry that my majesty seems to be unable to right now, I must go do the noble command of the crown prince!" Reject Eugene politely.
"Where are you going?" laura asked as she looked at the letter Eugene tucked under her shirt.
"I'll deliver a letter to Miss Liliana" replied Eugene.
Laura could not deny it, she let Eugene go because she had heard that Liliana was one of the candidates for the crown princess.
Instead he went to the Queen, to inquire about the election of the crown princess. The queen refused to answer Laura, because she knew Laura was close to Liliana.

The letter arrived quickly at Liliana, she read her letter in the room after studying all day with Jackson.
"You just remember me now after days of not seeing me?" Liliana riled up while looking at the letter.
His eyes began to widen reading the contents of the letter, he involuntarily smiled.

"Well miss, if the lady needs help, don't hesitate to call us" Daisy said, bowing her body.
Daisy and the 3 maids who helped Liliana decorate, went out of the room. As soon as the women left, Max went in without Liliana's consent.
"Your highness, it's not good if you always sneak into a girl's room. You're gonna tarnish his honor,"
"If the stain can make me have you, I'll come every day breaking windows and even breaking into your heart" Max walked over to Liliana holding his hip.

The red hair was unraveling a long fluttering around Max's face. Max took a strand of hair and then kissed her. "Your Majesty, what are you doing? The servants have already put this up with great difficulty!" the girl was angry.
"Lily, I don't like you dressing out like this. I just want to, I'll see you pretty.." Max hugged Liliana gently.
"Your highness.."
"I love you, really, but I don't want to limit your freedom either" Max said as he stroked Liliana's hair.
Liliana returned Max's embrace, she welcomed the man. But he did not understand what Max said in a sad voice.
