In geography lessons we know Sabang City as the westernmost city in Indonesia. Administratively, Sabang is included in the province of Aceh, but the location of Sabang is located on Weh Island. Sabang has many small islands scattered on the north and west sides with Weh Island as the largest island, and Rondo Island as the northernmost island.
Sabang city is widely known through its impressive natural panorama of beaches. No wonder Sabang was made host to various marine festivals such as Sail Sabang in 2017 and Sabang Marine Festival in April this year. Sabang now also has a Sabang Yacht Club that is connected to other Yacht Clubs in Southeast Asia.
Not only the panorama of the beach is good, Sabang also has many other tourist destinations that will make our holiday more memorable. There are several types of sessions that we will visit this week,,
Iboih Beach
This one beach can be said to be an icon of Sabang City. It is located only 30 minutes from the city center. The beach situation and calm waves make this beach very suitable to be used as a place to relax. The beautiful underwater world is also not to be missed. There are many different types of lodging near the beach if you want to spend more time here.
Sumur Tiga Beach
On the east side of Sabang City there is a beach that is a favorite of many people to enjoy the sunrise. The white sand beaches and clear beach water will make you feel at home for long here. The name of the three wells is taken from the history of three freshwater wells that are said to be in this coastal area. We can also spend our lunch later by eating at seafood stalls scattered in the beach area.
Anoi Itam Beach
Unlike the previous two beaches, this one beach has black sand. The origin of the sand of Anoi beach is black because it comes from a volcanic eruption on Weh Island. The sand here is believed to cure skin diseases. The black color of the sand contrasts sharply with the color of the clear water on the beach so as to provide a view that you may not find anywhere else.
Aneuk Lake Laot
The largest lake on Weh Island is a source of fresh water for the people of Sabang City and its surroundings. Various kinds of fun activities we can do here, including relaxing on the edge of the lake, kayaking, or just enjoying the view of Mount Marapi from a distance.
Men's Laot Waterfall
This waterfall is very interesting to visit. Its location in the forest area makes the waterfall area feel very beautiful and soothing. The waterfall pool has a depth of 1.5 to 2 meters. We can take a bath here. The existence of moon fish in the waterfall pond makes bathing more fun because it feels like being tickled by the fish. Moon fish is not dangerous and even reportedly can be used as therapeutic fish for various health problems. Wow, that's unique.
Nest Cave
This cave is often called Raja Ampatnya Sabang. Cave Nest is actually a cave that becomes a swallow nest. There are seven caves located at the foot of cliffs and protected forest hills. These seven caves stand firmly on the blue sea of Pulau Weh which directly borders the Indian Ocean. The view here will never be forgotten.
Tugu Zero Kilometer
Visiting Sabang is certainly not complete without taking pictures in front of the zero kilometer monument of Indonesia. Because of its location in the forest area, do not be surprised if along the way to the monument you will find many monkeys walking freely. The height of this zero kilometer monument reaches 43.6 meters with four magnificent supporting pillars. The facilities around the tourist area are very adequate. Starting from where to eat to the toilet and gift shop can be easily found here.
Ujung Kareung Beach
Not only can play around in the sandy beach area, here we will also be spoiled with a magnificent range of corals like crowns. Even now we can plunge from the top of this rock. For safety, do not worry, the depth of water under this coral is only about 4 to 5 meters without any rocks underneath. Dare to try?
The Japanese Bunker Fort
Hydrothermal Sirui
There is one unique tourist destination that you may not meet in other cities in Indonesia. His name is Sirui Hydrothermal. Sirui Hydrothermal is nothing but an underwater volcano area. Here we can do a dive and see air bubbles coming out of small craters. Various other unique fish than usual can also be found milling around. It's unique, isn't it? No wonder if Sirui so this tourist destination is in great demand by many domestic and foreign tourists.
Keuneukai Hot Water Bath
Sabang apparently has a volcano that is still active, its name is Mount Jaboi. From this mountain comes the source of hot springs which are then used as bathing attractions. Here, we can soak and stretch the muscles in the hot spring pool, while enjoying the beautiful view of the beach.
Sabang Hill
If you want to see the city and the bay of Sabang from a height, try coming to Sabang Hill. Sabang Hill itself is actually the name of a hotel located in the hilly area. But the surrounding community took the initiative to build a viewing post that can be used by the general public to see the beautiful scenery of Sabang City.
Kasih Beach
Kasih Beach could be the first destination we visit in Sabang. It is only 5 minutes from the city center. Here are many benches that we can sit on while relaxing to enjoy the breeze. This beach is increasingly crowded in the afternoon because it is one of the best spots to enjoy the view of the sunset.
Gapang Beach
Although the location is quite remote, but a long trip will pay off after we get to this beach. The beach is very calm with some traditional fishing boats leaning back. This beach is the beach with the longest coastline in Sabang and is very quiet. The beach is directly connected to the vast ocean giving an unforgettable view. The beach water is so clear that we can clearly see the fish swimming around the pier. Fun, right?
Tapak Gajah Beach
There is no clear history about the name of Elephant Beach. But the beauty of this beach is not to be doubted. It is also only 5 minutes away from Sabang city center. Popular activity on this beach is snorkeling acquainted with beautiful underwater biota. This beach has a lot of thickets that make it a little different from other beaches in Sabang.
Rubiah Island
It is incomplete if you go to Sabang without doing island hopping. One of the islands that we must visit is Rubiah Island. The tourist destination that you can find here is none other than Rubiah Marine Park which presents the charm of the most beautiful underwater natural wealth in Sabang. Although not inhabited but there are enough stalls and rental places for alatsnorkeling tools available around the beach. To get here we can cross from Iboih Beach with a travel time of approximately 30 minutes.
Mount Jaboi
If you want something more challenging, we can try to climb Mount Jaboi which is an active volcano on Weh Island. The height of this mountain is not more than 200 masl with a fairly easy trekking path. The view is no less amazing. The white mountain rocks look in contrast to the surrounding forest area that is green.
Well, like that is the explanation, if in the treaty we want to be taken around sabang, hehehe
