In the interior of West Kalimantan, there lived a beautiful girl. He lives with his mother. His father died a long time ago. Unfortunately, the beautiful girl was very haughty, lazy, and spoiled. Every day she just dresses at home. All his needs must be met. He doesn't care about his mother who works every day. The mother was very sad to see her daughter's behavior. His daughter often ruled and said harshly.

One day, the mother and her son went to the village to shop. Their vastly different appearance attracted the attention of many people. A young man greeted the girl kindly, "Hi, beautiful girl, what is your name? Is that what you walk with you your mother?"

The girl was very angry and said, "Of course she's not my mother. He's just a slave!"

His mother was very sad to hear his son's words. With a broken heart, he prayed to the Lord, "My Lord, I think I have had enough patience. It is no longer able to hold back the heartache of his arrogance. Give him a lesson, my God."

The All-Hearing God granted the mother's request. Slowly the girl's body turned to stone from her legs to her stomach.

"Mother, forgive me," said the girl pleading. "Forgive me, Mom...."

But, it's too late. Eventually the girl's entire body turned to stone. Although it had become a stone, one could see both of its eyes spewing out water like one was crying. The stone that originally came from the girl whose mother cursed is known as the Stone of Grais.

Banyuwangi

Raden Banterang from the kingdom in East Java known dashing and handsome. He likes to hunt. While hunting, he saw a deer. He immediately chased the deer into the forest. Raden Banterang was separated from the group. In the middle of the forest, he meets a girl named Princess Surati from Klungkung Kingdom. Princess Surati is on the run because her father has been killed at the hands of the enemy. Raden Banterang brought Surati to the palace and decided to marry the girl.

When Raden Banterang was in the forest, he was visited by a foreign man. The man said that Raden Banterang was in danger. Princess Surati has asked someone to kill Raden Banterang. As proof, the woman kept the headband belonging to the man.

When asked by her husband, Putri Surati also explained the origin of the headband. Raden Banterang accused his wife of lying. He drowned his wife in the river. Princess Surati then said, "My husband, if after my death the waters of this river become clear and fragrant, it means I am innocent. However, if the opposite happens, it means I'm guilty."

Raden Banterang still does not trust his wife. So, he immediately stabbed Princess Surati's waist with a keris. Princess Surati drifted away by the current. Shortly after, it was a miracle. Suddenly the river water became clear and fragrant. Raden Banterang deeply regrets and mourns the death of his wife. Since then, the river has become fragrant. People call it banyu scented until it became the name of the city of Banyuwangi.

Moral message: Being careless in acting will only bring regret.

Squirrels and Cork Fish

The Cork Fish is friendly with the Squirrel. They help each other when they are in trouble. They also exchange stories every day. One day, the Cork Fish fell ill. Her body is very weak. Squirrels wait faithfully for their friends. It's been a few days that the Cork Fish won't eat. The squirrel kept persuading him. "I just want to eat yu fish liver," said the Cork Fish.

The squirrel was very sad. It was hard to keep up with the request of his best friend. The yu fish is a very ferocious animal and only lives in the high seas. But eventually he decided to look for her. "All right, I'll find it for you" said the squirrel.

So he jumped from tree to tree. Then he came to a coconut tree that jutted into the sea. Squirrels hollow out a coconut. After the water runs out, it goes into the coconut fruit. From inside the coconut, the squirrel bit the stalk of the coconut. Once detached from the stalk, the coconut splashed into the open sea.

The sea waves are huge. In the not too distant future, coconuts have been in the middle of the ocean. Suddenly a big fish came. Immediately he swallowed the coconut seeds round. The coconut and the squirrel went into the belly of the fish. Slow down, the squirrel then digs the heart of the yu fish. The fish fluttered to the beach side.

The squirrel brought that yu fish heart to his best friend. After eating the liver of the yu fish, the Cork Fish became cured. He jumped up happily. He also promised to help the squirrel if he was sick. They are friends happily and peacefully.
