In one village, there lived a doll maker with his son Aung. The father hopes that Aung can continue his work as a doll maker. According to him, making dolls is an honorable job and preserving culture. But not so for Aung. He thought doll makers were a boring job.
To that end, he told his father he wanted to find another job, "Dad, I want to find my luck in another city." Hearing Aung's words, her father was very sad. However, the father is unable to prevent Aung's wishes.
"Well, if that's your decision, then" said Aung's father, "I'll give you four dolls."
"What are the dolls for?" ask Aung.
"The dolls can be friends on your journey" replied his father.
Aung watched every doll that would be brought. "The dolls have their own functions, "obviously the father, "the first doll is a puppet of the king. The nature of the king is wise. The second doll is a giant. He is a symbol of strength. The third doll is a witch. He is a symbol of knowledge. The last doll was a hermit. He represents goodness. Remember Aung! Every power and knowledge must always be accompanied by wisdom and kindness."
After preparing the supplies, Aung also left. He brought four dolls with him. At night he arrived in the forest, he was standing under a tree.
"I can rest in this place. But, is this place safe?" he murmured in the heart.
Suddenly he had the idea of asking one of the dolls he was carrying. He asked the king doll, which was cute. "Please tell me. Is this place safe to rest?"
Suddenly the doll came alive and moved. Aung astonished at. That's when the king's puppet said, "Aung, you should be able to look around you by opening both eyes. If you fail, someone else will fool you." After saying those words the doll then returned to its place.
Aung regained his senses from his astonishment, then he began to observe his surroundings. He looked at the meadow, there was a trace of a tiger. That night Aung confine the intention of sleeping under a tree, he climbed into a tree and slept on its twig. True to his decision, at midnight saw a tiger under a tree looking for prey.
Aung continued his journey down the mountains. Slowly and surely, night came. Aung rested and set up a tent on the side of the road leading up to the mountain. The morning when he woke up, he saw the caravan group passing below. The caravan was carrying a dozen bulls with expensive items on it.
"They must belong to a rich merchant" he murmured. He imagined if those treasures belonged to him. Aung awakens from his daydream. He asked the giant doll, "Tell me, how can it be a rich man."
Suddenly the giant moved and spoke, "Look, as long as you have the strength. You will get everything you want.”
The giant slammed its feet into the earth. "Wait!" shout Aung. "It's too late" replied the giant. The earth shook violently, slabs of stone fell upon the caravan's entourage. The pedicure riders were terrified. They ran away leaving their luggage behind.
"You look at Aung" said the giant.
"Is this really easy?" ask Aung in disbelief.
He then approached the items the owner had left behind. Aung gathered one by one. Suddenly he heard the sound of crying. After he found the source of the voice, he was surprised to find a beautiful woman sandwiched between the pedicure and the items.
“Don't be afraid miss, I'll help you," said Aung, "who are you?"
"I'm Mala, these are my father's belongings. We'll see him" Mala replied.
Seeing Mala, Aung instantly falls in love.
“I'll take care of you forever," said Aung. Angrily, Mala said, "I don't want to see you, go! You are so greedy. I'm not gonna talk to you. You are a thief."
Hearing Mala's words, Aung thought for a moment. "Am I really a thief?" he murmured in the heart.
"Do not think about it. He's definitely gonna change his mind. Right now the most important thing is that your wish has been achieved. You become a rich man" said the giant. He then helps Aung get rid of the items that are blocking the way.
In the afternoon they left the mountain and arrived at a village. "What should we do?" ask the giant.
Soon Aung asked the witch doll. "Tell me what should I do?" ask Aung. The doll moved and spoke. Mala was very surprised and stared at it. "If you want to add wealth, you must know the secrets of nature" answered the mystic. Then with his cane, he took Aung flying.
"Look down" the witch asked.
"Amazing" said Aung.
"There are fertile lands and mountains that hold gold and silver" said the witch.
"I will help the people there with the knowledge I have," Aung replied.
"Maybe you can do it. Why don't you use that knowledge for yourself. Knowledge is power. Others will keep knowledge for themselves, too" explained the witch.
"I think it is so" said Aung.
Aung goes to the capital and becomes a merchant. His wealth is growing. He has a palace for himself and Mala. However, Aung is unhappy because a loved one does not want to talk to him.
One day Aung received a very large gift, a golden head covering, with a wide ruby, some patchouli, and jewels. Aung shows Mala, but she only takes a quick look and leaves. Aung was very upset, "Didn't you know that I love you so much!" Mala ignored Aung's words.
Aung goes to the doll room. There he talked to giants and witches. "Mala hates me so much. I made his father poor. I'll find them tomorrow. That way, maybe Mala can open her heart to me" said Aung.
"A very stupid idea!" sahut the giant doll, "you must defend your stance. If not, you will be weak. But it's too late now, Mala's gone from this palace."
"What's? Gone?" shout Aung. Soon Aung searches for Mala's whereabouts, but he is unable to find her. Sadly, Aung returns to the doll room.
"I've been looking for her, but I can't find her" Aung says, "I'll never be happy with everything, if the people I love leave me."
Hearing Aung's words, the giant fell silent and fixated. Aung then remembered, there was one doll that he had never called, the hermit. "Tell me why is everything falling apart like this?" lamented Aung.
The hermit puppet moved and spoke. "You think that wealth will make you happy, it's wrong. True happiness is not of matter, but of goodness. Now it doesn't depend on what you have, it's the way you use it" explained the hermit doll.
Suddenly the king's puppet moved and said, "Aung, you have forgotten your father's message that strength and knowledge must be accompanied by wisdom and kindness."
"From now on I won't forget it" said Aung.
Aung begins to use his wealth for good. He built a pagoda where people prayed. He provided food and protection for the people who came. One day among the people who had come, he saw a very familiar person. "Mala!" shout Aung.
Mala came with her father. The clothes they were wearing were tattered. Aung then knelt down on the old man. "I'm sorry, sir. I have taken your treasure. My wealth is all yours. Sincerely sincerely, I give it back to you, " said Aung, "I'll go back to the village to help my father make dolls."
"Dad, this is Aung. He has changed now" Mala told her father.
"Oh so, it's a waste if I let a very talented young man like you" said Mala's father.
"I mean dad?" ask Mala.
"We will invite him to stay in the palace with us" replied the father.
After that day, Aung goes with Mala and her father. He became Mala's father's assistant in trade. It did not take long, he became a co-worker, then became his son-in-law by marrying Mala. As for the puppets, Aung occasionally called out. Although aided by strength and knowledge, Aung does not forget to accompany it with wisdom and kindness.
