In the village of Melanti near the Mahakam River, there lived a man and his wife in a humble hut. They cut down trees every day. Although they are not blessed with children, they live happily and love each other. While cutting down a tree, the man found a snake boy. Out of pity, the man took her home. The snake was kept like a child. Every day, the snake gave him food. Over time, the little snake incarnated the good dragon. Every day he helps his foster parents.

Some time later, the man dreamed of meeting a girl. The girl said, "Father and Mother, I am the incarnation of the dragon that you keep. Please let me leave here. But I beg you to make a ladder to the river. If I go down, follow where I walk. Then, burn the black sesame and sprinkle the yellow rice on my body,"

The man immediately fulfilled the request of the girl in his dream. Bamboo stairs tied with lembiding roots. The dragon slithered into the river. He swam seven times upstream and seven times downstream. The man and his wife followed with a canoe. The dragon dived. A moment later, a storm suddenly arrived. However, it soon returned bright.

The man and his wife were surprised to see the Mahakam River filled with foam of various colors. On top of the foam, there was a wooden barrel containing a beautiful baby girl. They brought the baby home. The baby was named Princess Coral Melenu. Later Princess Karang Melenu became the wife of King Kutai Kartanegara Ing Martadipura gave birth to a son named Batara Agung Paduka Nira.

In honor of Putri Karar Melenu, the local community held a stalling ceremony as part of the Erau Festival in East Kalimantan.

Lipan Lake

A king from a foreign land wanted to ask for her hand. The princess did not immediately accept her proposal. He tested the King by taking him to dinner. The princess was surprised. How to eat the King was directly using the mouth. The princess was disgusted and angry.

After eating, the King still submitted his proposal. However, the Princess replied angrily, "Master, I feel contempt if I have to mate with a person who eats like a dog."

When the kingdom began to be threatened with defeat, the Princess chewed betel and said, "If it is true I am the incarnation of a powerful king, my betel splinters will be huge centipedes to destroy the foreign king's army!"

Then sprinkled betel spit from his mouth. In a moment, betel splints turned into thousands of giant centipedes. Thousands of centipedes managed to annihilate the King's snag army. The King's ship was wrecked in the sea. After the King's army was destroyed, the Princess disappeared. The sea where the King's ship was shipwrecked receded. The sea was slowly becoming dry and a vast field.
