Chapter 29 - The Queen Mother's Trap

Tension ensued at the royal gate, all the soldiers had protected the emperor as well as Qing' Er. All the people were furious after hearing the rumors about the queen possessing magic and using it on their emperor. Yuan Shi squinted sharply, he was already impatient to serve out punishment for anyone insulting his queen.

"It is fitting that this outcast queen suddenly became the spotlight of the country under the pretext of a messenger of God, when in fact she did it with magic to bewitch us all!" said one of the Queen Mother's paid provocateurs.

"True, the emperor must immediately punish him severely!" said one of the people.

Yuan Shi's gaze was extremely intimidating, as he stepped forward to protect Qing Er the man let out a long sigh. "Do you have any evidence? On what basis do you accuse my queen of witchcraft?"

"These people are crazy!" nemo told Qing Er, who remained calm.

"Please the emperor examine her at the queen's residence, surely the emperor will find some evidence that she has performed magic!" said The Provocator.

Yuan Shi snorted violently. "Qing' Er, what do you think? I believe you didn't do it." Yuan Shi turned around and turned towards Qing Er then grabbed her empress' hand, her gaze so sad as if feeling sorry for Qing Er.

Liu Qing smiled at the emperor then turned his head to the protesters sharply. "Emperor do it according to the rules of the kingdom" said Qing Er.

The two then entered the palace followed by several other warriors, Qing Er and Yuan Shi still continued to link their hands to each other, all the courtiers went to the Queen's cold palace. As it turned out, the Queen Mother and Wu Zetian had been waiting for the emperor there first, they eagerly wanted to witness the emperor's reaction. Yuan Shi turned his head towards the Empress Dowager and Wu Zetian coldly then passed by them without a greeting.

Inside the cold palace, there was no strange thing that led to the usefulness of magic so Yuan Shi was relieved. Then the Empress Dowager walked over towards Yuan Shi and began to instigate the man. "Why didn't the emperor look for him in the emperor's residence? Rumor has it that the queen has cast a spell of enchantment to beg the emperor to obey her."

"The Queen mother still believes in such rumors, Qing Er has always helped me lately so it's appropriate for me to grant all her wishes and indulge her." Yuan Shi smiled sweetly towards Liu Qing who still did not say much.

"People outside must have been waiting for the result, but the emperor seemed to be blocking others from dismantling the guise of Queen Qing. No matter how much the emperor loved him, he still had to follow the rules of the kingdom. Only by examining the entire palace can we find out whether the rumors are true or not" replied the Queen Mother.

Qing Er had guessed that by looking at the passionate Queen Mother to find evidence that should not exist, there must have been a trap that had been prepared for her. After the soldiers searched the entire palace on the orders of the queen mother, they found a piece of enchanting spell inside the emperor's room, everyone looked surprised but Qing's 'Er still looked relaxed and indifferent.

"Emperor Yuan Shi should punish the queen fairly, the emperor knew that anyone should not use magic inside the palace! Because of this spell the emperor became incompetent in making decisions. Consort Wu who had been accompanying the emperor to be the emperor's favorite had never even gotten any gifts from the emperor!" the Queen Mother said in detail.

Everyone who watched, the law officials, the royal advisers then the concubines behind started gossiping about the queen and agreeing there was the Queen Mother's remark. Everyone was sure the change in the emperor's attitude towards the queen was caused by the spell that had been hidden inside the emperor's room.

"It is fitting that the queen is dear to the emperor these days" they all said.

"Can't you guys just shut up? This does not necessarily belong to the queen, but you all have dared to corner her!" furious Yuan Shi.

"Unfortunately we have a witness" said Wu Zetian who turned to his servant.

"Greetings to the emperor, I am sure that the queen must have gotten the spell from Prince Beiming who is famous as a sorcerer, that's why the queen and Prince Beiming's relationship looks close enough to even make a secret appointment at the entertainment house during the imperial event at that time" said Wu Zetian's personal servant.

"Soldier, why is this guy still here? What nonsense is he saying!" Yuan Shi was filled with burning fury staring intently at the servant who was in front of him.

The atmosphere grew even more tense as everyone started to talk about the rumors regarding Qing' Er and Yun Shan's affair. Even the rumors in the entertainment house were sniffed by the palace people. It felt as if Yuan Shi was so tired, having just set his foot on the palace he was already faced with this kind of big thing. But Qing Er still wanted to know where the trap of those bastards would lead her.

"Miss, buy yourself! Look, everyone will devour you if you keep quiet" Nemo said worriedly.

"I'm still enjoying the show and won't act, unless they hook innocent people on the matter." Qing Er folded her hands in front of her chest, then looked at the Queen Mother coldly she took a step forward in front of the emperor staring at everyone who was now looking at her hatefully.

"Everything is based on his word and he said, everyone believes negative rumors about me but doesn't believe good rumors about me. So this problem I won't comment much and avoid, because it's useless to defend yourself if your goal really wants to bring me down." Qing Er then turned around and turned her head towards Yuan Shi. "This matter, I leave everything to the emperor!"

Qing Er saluted then waltzed away leaving everyone behind and Yuan Shi who was still speechless did not comment much. Everyone boisterously forced the emperor to investigate this further, Yuan Shi could only grant and did not know how else, yet he believed that Qing Er would not do so.

The Queen Mother and Wu Zetian smiled in satisfaction then immediately asked people to forcibly pick Yun Shan up to Qianqing Palace in order to be able to immediately interrogate the man.

Inside the cold palace, Qing Er slightly felt that this matter would be heavier than before moreover the Queen Mother directly intervened to trap her. So, he enlists Nemo's help to give him the tools he can use to get out of the current situation.
