Chapter 40 - The Trap

The night passed by so slowly, Yuan Shi could barely sleep as Wu Zetian always tried to steal the opportunity on him. He repeatedly reasoned to stay away from Tian'Er in order to avoid physical contact with the girl he considered to be his own little sister, Yuan Shi asked the maid to fetch some wine for him and Wu Zetian. In his other grasp, apparently Yuan Shi had provided sleeping medicine powder just in case. While pouring wine for Wu Zetian, Yuan Shi made a quick move sprinkling the refined sleeping medicine that was already in his grasp.

After finishing, Yuan Shi handed the cup of wine to Wu Zetian who was still posing on the bed while trying to continue teasing Yuan Shi. An annoyed crack came out of Tian Er's mouth, he waited for Yuan Shi to come to him to provide the pleasure he had never gotten from the man instead of a cup of wine that he simply did not want.

"Sister Yuan deliberately dodged me!" tian Error 'Er.

"Of course not, I don't want to be too hasty let alone this first night we spent a real night" Yuan Shi said.

"This is all because Brother Yuan has always reasoned and has always never slept with me, it has been seven months that I married you but you still have not touched me at all. I also want to be like Brother Qing' Er to be a full-fledged wife to you!" lament Tian'Er with a spoiled tone.

"You know what's been incriminating about me, since childhood we've always been together. Your father is my uncle, I already consider you as my little brother just like Ningshuang. If it wasn't for your father's will I wouldn't have possibly made you my concubine, instead like that I'd rather marry you to another royal prince!" Yuan Shi.

However, earlier than that you even brought Brother Liu Qing to become empress when clearly he did not want to." Tian Er then downed the cup of wine that Yuan Shi had handed over earlier.

"If you side with me to the end maybe I will treat you better," Yuan Shi said as he watched Wu Zetian grow unconscious.

He turned his face away when Wu Zetian was fully asleep, Yuan Shi exited the main palace then calmed himself down by walking around the lake. It felt lonely, but besides that he started thinking about Qing Er's feelings that might feel the same way while in the cold palace. Yuan Shi snorted softly while linking his hands back. Xiao Yan had appeared to accompany the Emperor to spend time by himself that night.

"Xiao, do you think there might be someone coming from the future?" asked Yuan Shi with origin.

Xiao was stunned and then answered as best he could. "According to my research, it's highly unlikely."

"How can you say it's impossible?" ask the emperor again.

"Because there is no evidence to corroborate the reason someone came from the future, Your Majesty." Xiao yan.

"What if there is? And they have a mission from the future to change something in the past?" Yuan Shi turned around waiting for Xiao's reply.

"I've never heard of anything like that, which I know is absurd. Normally, our souls incarnate into the future. It will also be done randomly and can not remember the life we are living" explained Xiao.

"Thank you for your answer, I hope that if reborn later I will remember all the lives I have lived today without forgetting one." Yuan Shi then turned around and continued his journey down the lake area.

She is Qing' Er, the emptiness on her after Ji's death is increasingly felt in the middle of a silent night. He could not even hold it by himself so decided to go to the lake accompanied by his personal servant. Coincidentally, Yuan Shi was there so he did not hesitate to meet Qing Er who was still staring at the beautiful star in the sky. "Good night, queen."

"Good night, emperor." Qing Er paid her respects to Yuan Shi formally. His eyes looked sad and looked a little swollen.

"It's late, the empress shouldn't be too long outside the palace." Yuan Shi stood closer beside Qing Er.

"Emperor himself why in the middle of the night walk around the lake?" qing 'Er asked.

"No need to hesitate, as long as Queen Qing likes it I'll give you." Yuan Shi smiled faintly then looked back stiffly from not knowing what to talk about.

Liu Qing smiled subtly at Yuan Shi, not wanting to chim in with the Emperor's words but also unwilling to leave. But, his heart was so sick and nauseous that he was unable to hold it in front of Yuan Shi. Qing Er closed her mouth and endured the uncontrollable nausea, Yuan Shi who knew something was wrong with Qing Er immediately felt anxious.

"Sir, are you sick?" yuan Shi asked in panic. "Servant Chun, please bring the empress in! I'll call a healer for him" Yuan Shi continued.

"Emperor need not worry, servant is fine and healthy." Qing Er looked at Yuan Shi grimacingly while enduring the nausea still lingering in her stomach.

"Still evasive, you're obviously not okay!" furious Yuan Shi mixed anxiously.

Not long after the palace guards came to meet Yuan Shi and Qing Er to the lake area. "Excuse me, Your Majesty."

"Yes, what's wrong?" asked Yuan Shi flatly.

"Someone His Majesty is looking for has already arrived at the palace," said the palace guard.

Yuan Shi turned his head towards Xiao, he understood who the guards were referring to. Yes, the person that was sought was Yun Shan. The Emperor was convinced that it was the news of Qing 'Er's rebellion that definitely brought him to Yuanqing. Yuan Shi then immediately walked following the guards to meet Yun Shan not forgetting to be accompanied by Xiao while Qing Er returned to her pavilion.
