Suddenly a black-clothed male entered the room and although not all of them matched Vic's height, they were almost as large in size. They proceeded to open the cell door and forcefully dragged us out. After we were arrested, they took us to the center of the room, so we stood in line.

"Follow me," Vic ordered quietly and we started walking. As we moved, the men nudged us with their sticks when they thought we were too slow but my focus was elsewhere. I told myself to memorize every detail of the route because it could be a way out.

We climbed the stairs and walked down some of the hallways. I concluded that our cells had to be underground because they were all concrete and there was no light at all. However, passing the stairs became more modern. It was still dark and dirty, but there was at least some light coming through the rare window we passed through.

Finally, we entered a large room and I knew we were in an old warehouse. It was bright, too bright. The fluorescent lights that shone on the white sterile surface caused my eyes to narrow while waiting for them to adjust.

On one side of the room, there are beds lined with infusions beside each one. I was smart enough to know we were going to be tested. There is no other explanation.

We were lined up in the middle of the room, facing a man named Vic. There were guards everywhere and people scattered, wearing white lab coats. As we walked in, the answer I was looking for, became clear.

Now that I know why, I don't feel relieved at all. My attention was immediately drawn to the syringe filled with blue liquid and the fear growing in my intestines for what was to come.

A woman walked next to Vic and he bowed low, respectfully. It shocked me, seeing someone as big as him acting submissive to a petite Asian woman. With a slight wave of his hand, the room became quiet and Vic took a step back. He's been dismissed.

His black hair was neatly combed back into a bun and there were no visible wrinkles in his pristine lab coat. From the proper way of dressing to the graceful movements she made, everything about her serenity screamed.

"Hello, I'm Doctor Choi, the head of EXO Experiment," he greeted warmly with a smile. "You may be wondering why you were chosen for this. Just because it's your destiny. Fate and science have brought us here today and believe it or not, this is a moment that will go down in history. You boys are very special, very special indeed. Of the 7 billion people in this world, only nine of you carry the EXO gene, something I found with pure luck. You see a decade ago, I was just a doctor but one day a young boy came to my hospital and it changed everything . "

His eyes met mine and I realized he was talking about me. Although I was surprised, I showed no reaction, trying to keep my expression neutral. I looked at him carefully but I didn't recognize him at all. Am I too young to remember or has he changed entirely?
