"Now, we fight," I said to the others as we curled up on Kai's body. The heat radiated from under my skin and my strength rumbled in response, waiting to be used. My hands began to shine from the flames they were holding and adrenaline poured all over my body as I prepared to fight.
From my peripheral vision, I could see the guards running towards us so I immediately stood up. Without looking back, I advanced into the crowd of attackers, hoping others would follow my lead.
My heart was racing with excitement as the wild beast within me roared, wanting to be released. So I let it go. Fire erupted from my hands, in a stream of heat, shooting towards the sea of black-clothed men.
The red and orange flames glowed dark, chasing their prey with ease and leaving a trail of smoke and ash. It was a fire of disaster and chaos that was beautiful, frightening yet overwhelming.
I know, for the guards, it's just a job. They are people who may have mouths to feed and pay bills, who follow orders from superiors who do not care about their lives. They are not real enemies. Instead they are just men on the front lines - collateral damage - protecting real monsters who sit and watch from safety.
I just want to hurt them, I can't. In this situation, it was almost impossible to tame the fire I had created. After being released from my grip, they were wild and uncontrollable. I can't focus my attacks on individuals, there are too many of them, so I have to commit a wide offense.
Unlike the others, my strength, is meant for destruction. I realized early on how easy it is to be the cause of the chaos and the consequences that come with it. Guilt.
Accidents. I always blame the victims of accidents, on the grounds that I don't know what I'm doing and I have no control over it. No one blamed me, but it didn't matter. People have been hurt by my hand before, my strength. Even though they were the ones who hurt me from the beginning, it did not ease my conscience. I didn't do it on purpose but I still endanger others.
I learned the hard way, that there is no mercy about fire. There is a reason parents often warn their children not to play with it. Because it not only stings, but also burns .
The fire is dangerous and at the moment I can't track all the damage I've made. And it scares me to no end.
As I fought, screams of sadness caused by my inferno, surrounded me. I tried my best to ignore it while justifying my actions and pleading for my innocence. I was despicable and the shame began to swallow me all over. However, there were more pressing matters at hand so I calmed the greedy demon inside and let the flames burn away all my regrets.
I made the decision to let go of the fire. If I have to let go of hell on earth, in order to survive, then so be it. I'm determined. I'll come out on the other side, alive.
We'll run away and I'll do whatever it takes to do it. Even if it means selling myself to the devil. But after the heinous things they have done to us and made us do, I am sure Satan himself already has my soul in his palm.
To my left, Xiumin fought beside me, freezing and punching the masses, and to my right Chen held his own hand, firing lightning bolts in all directions. However, even with all our efforts, they kept coming.
We are seriously outnumbered and if this continues, we will likely get tired quickly or our strength will run out. We fought against the army, all against the nine of us. Actually, we went down to seven, with Kai injured and Lay trying to heal him, they were useless.
It is safe to say; the odds are not in our favor.
All the months of planning had been wasted because the plan had not worked. Although, at least the first part has been successful, immobilizing the collar and regaining our power is an important step.
Much of it depends on Kai for his ability to be too comfortable not to make full use of. Now, when looking back, it's not the best idea to put all our eggs in one basket.
For months, every time we were allowed to practice using our strength in training, we had assigned Kai to an exploration task. Even though his collar was already GPS installed, we already knew if he jumped fast enough, it would be too difficult even for the technology to find him.
He was basically untraceable as there was no signal when he jumped in and out of existence. So he scoured the courtyard, looking for every nook and cranny of the building. Finally, he found what we were looking for: the main control room.
That's where all the real operations behind the scenes go down. Where they control our training stimuli, CCTV and most importantly, our collars. After that, we just need to know how to deactivate it.
